Girls Night pt. 1
Step Sisters (girlxgirl)
{Welcome to our first two-parter!! Actually, it might be our only two-parter
oh and welcome to the first Monday upload.
Life updates, pride month has been uneventful so far. I see Chappell Roan (again) and Renee Rapp (again) this weekend. Fun fact I was so drunk when I went to the Renee Rapp concert that I don't remember anything. When I saw Chappell two weeks ago I was completely sober but still ended up coming home and vomiting from dehydration. Besties remember to stay hydrated, especially at concerts.
I'm technically going to a music festival and Sabrina Carpenter will also be there. Another fun fact the original story this one is based on was a Sabrina fanfic back in 2017. Can y'all guess how many times I've seen Sabrina in concert?
I'm back 3 hours before this uploads, Sabrina's new album comes out August 23rd!!!}
Let girl's night commence. The usual Elle and Alyssa are here. They are always my first invite to everything. My two other friends from school, Violet and Delilah, are here, too. We've all known each other since kindergarten. I was going to invite my other friend Maria but she is out of town this weekend visiting family. We are just catching up. I haven't seen Violet and Delilah all summer, but I've texted them here and there.
Jessie was a perfect co-host today. She helped me clean the house, put snacks out, and we went to get alcohol. She seems a little nervous right now, but that's okay; she only knows me. The girls have been good about including her in conversation, though. Next time, we will have to fly in some of her friends. Hopefully, we'll have more notice than two days.
"Harper, you never told us what happened between you and Casey," Elle says. All the attention in the room is put on me.
"Wait, you two broke up?" Delilah asks.
"Yes, about two weeks ago" I say.
"Well, what happened?" Elle asks.
"I wasn't exactly innocent in this break up" I say.
"It's fine. We always support women's wrongs. Just tell us" Violet says.
"Ok, fine. I started developing feelings for someone else. There were a few instances where I acted on it while drunk, and there may have been an accidental kiss. He found a note they wrote for me and found out. He wasn't too innocent, either. He was definitely kind of a shitty boyfriend in the last few weeks of the relationship. He was very needy, clingy, and jealous. He would get mad at me over the stupidest shit"
"He has always been very needy" Violet says, and everyone laughs.
"Well, who is this boy you started catching feelings for?" Elle asks.
"Um," I say, considering my following words very carefully. "It wasn't exactly a boy." They all look slightly confused. "It was a girl"
The room exploded in excitement. The four of them got up and tackled me in one big hug. Jessie got off the couch to let us have our moment. There was a mix of "Oh my god, Harper," "We're so proud of you," and stuff like that. I didn't even need to mention it was Jessie. They get off after a minute or two and return to their spots. Jessie came back over and sat next to me.
"Do you have a label?" Violet asks.
"Um, I don't know yet. I've thought about it. All I know is that I like a girl"
"That's so cute" she says.
"Does your mom know?" Does your dad know?" Elle asks me. "Wait, did you know?" She turns to Jessie.
"Yeah, I knew" She says.
"And my dad knows. Not my mom"
"Wait, how does Jessie know before me?" Elle asks.
"It's kind of hard to hide it from someone you live with" I say. Jessie nods in agreement.
"That's fair enough"
"Well, I think this is as good a time as ever to open that bottle of wine," Delilah says, and we all head to the kitchen.
I find the corkscrew and open the bottle while Jessie hands out glasses from the cabinet. I love my little co-host. I start pouring it into everyone's glass.
"Just a little bit," Jessie says when I get to her. I pour about half of what I gave everyone else into her glass. I looked into her eyes, maybe a second or two too long for being around other people. She takes a sip. "It tastes like shit," She says. I laugh.
"Do you want a Smirnoff?" I ask.
"Yes"
I go into the fridge, grab one from the bottom shelf, and hand it to her. I take her glass, pour the rest of the bottle into it, and take a sip. She was right. It does taste like shit. I walked in and grabbed the first bottle I saw. I gotta make sure I don't do that next time. It's whatever. I'll drink it anyway.
The group heads back to the couch, and I turn the TV on. "What do we want to watch?" I ask.
"Glee," Elle says.
"Riverdale," Violet says.
"Um ew" Delilah says.
"What about Gossip Girl?" Jessie asks.
"I like the way you think" I say and turn the show on.
We start drinking while waiting for it to get dark out so we can go in the pool. We make small talk in the meantime. Now that we are slightly tipsy it is finally time to go into the pool.
It takes us a while to get adjusted to the temperature. During the day it feels like a bath but the temperature drops at night. I've been begging Mom to get a heater for years. We stand around the pool in a circle. Elle is telling us all the latest gossip happening at the moment. She has been to all our classmates' parties since school ended. I've been skipping out on them lately. Apparently, Heather G. broke up with Carter at the last one and Heather G. got with his best friend later that night. Jessie couldn't look less interested, I don't blame her. She doesn't know these people.
20 minutes later when Elle was done filling us in, Alyssa and Violet went inside to refill their drinks I whisper to Jessie, "Come with me"
I take her hand under the water and guide her to the deep end. We start treading water, go to the other side, and grab onto the wall.
"Not into Elle's gossip ses?" I ask.
"Eh it was ok at least she made it entertaining"
"She knows how to tell a story," I say. "Ok ready?" I ask.
"For what?"
"We're gonna dunk in...
Three
Two"
"Wait Har-"
I cut her off and say "One" and drag her under with me. I open my eyes and she is already swimming to the surface so I swim up after her.
"I can't believe you made me do that now I have to shower," She says.
I slightly ignore her. "Remind me to take you in here when no one else is around"
I would love to kiss her right now but not with all my friends right there.
"I don't know if I trust you after that, I could have drowned," She says.
"You know you love me, babe" I tease.
"Yeah," She trails off and looks down, slightly embarrassed.
"Plus I would never let you drown. I love you too much"
