3 am;

I slowly and quietly open the door to the guest room. Jessie sits up and looks at me. I put my finger to my mouth to tell her to be quiet and motion for her to come with me with my other hand. Levi is fast asleep in the bed next to hers. She stands up and quietly sneaks out of the room.

She starts going into my room but I start heading down the stairs so she follows.

"Where are you going?" She asks once we reach the bottom.

"You'll see," I say and open the back door.

"Oh the pool," She says.

"Yeah," I say.

I open the door and we go outside. We get to the pool and I put my feet in. Jessie rolls her pants up and then does the same. She lays her head on my shoulder.

"I need to tell you something," I say.

She was playing with the water's surface using her foot, she stops when I say that. She looks up at me while still resting her head on me. "What's up?"

"Your father is fully convinced something is going on between us"

She lifts her head off my shoulder. "Well, he isn't wrong. How do you know that though? You don't talk to him."

"I overheard a convo between him and my mother today. He told her all of his "evidence" and my mom just shrugged it off, said it is typical friend stuff" I say.

"It'll be fine. We only have a couple more weeks here and then he'll forget all about it" She says and puts her head back down.

"My mom will keep him in check. She was not buying it at all today and kept trying to shut him down" I say.

"Oh so yeah we'll be fine. Just out of curiosity what was this evidence?"

"You sneaking into my room, being cuddled up on the couch, holding hands" I list out.

"Seems suspicious when you put it like that"

That's because it is suspicious, Jessie. I would never say that to her though.

"I have a question," I say.

"What's your question?" She asks.

"Do you wanna come to Elle's back-to-school pool party with me tomorrow night?" I ask.

"Is your ex-boyfriend gonna be there?" She asks.

"Probably, it used to be a small get-together with just a few of her friends when we were younger, now practically the entire school goes"

"Wait, don't you have your first day of school the day after tomorrow?" She asks.

"Yes, I'll be fine. It'll make the first day more interesting"

"At least I'll get to sleep in the next day," She says. "Wait are we not going to be able to hang out at 3 am anymore once you start school?"

"I would never miss 3 am with you," I say. She doesn't say anything back. "Jessie wanna see something funny?" I ask.

"Sure"

I place my hand on her back and she immediately tensed up. She knew exactly what I was doing. I push her in and she makes a huge splash in. I start cackling. She resurfaces and says, "Harper not funny. This was my last pair of clean pajamas."

"It was funny to me" I shrug my shoulders and keep laughing. "You can borrow a pair of mine"

She grabs my hand and tugs me in. I could have put up more of a fight but I deserved this. I come up from under the water and wrap my arms around her neck. She again tenses up thinking I'm about to pull her down.

"I love you so much," I say.

"I love you more," She says back.

I give her a small peck on the lips then pulls away. She smiles at me and I feel the grin on my face growing without even trying. I use my arms wrapped around her to pull her under with me.
