Chapter 34
Billionaires with Benefits
34 34. Big Fat Liar
The night sky was dark. It had been raining since an hour ago. However, there was no sign of it stopping soon.
Meanwhile, the large living room of Williamâs parentsâ house was so quiet. Only Leaâs sob and cursing were heard in a low voice.
âDonât be so angry! Itâs also your fault that you couldnât take care of your man,â Samuel said in a flat tone. He took the phone back from Leaâs hand and put it in his pocket. âYou donât know how to satisfy him, do you? To the point that he had to seek pleasure outside. Donât you know how to satisfy your man in bed?â
Lea was silent, staring at Samuel fiercely. How could she possibly please William if he always refused to bring her home for many ridiculous reasons? Let alone living together, just having dinner at his parentâs house, he was reluctant to do it.
âShut up!â Leah snapped. âYou donât know anything about my problems.â
âIâm just saying it as it is. You are not good at taking care of William,â said Samuel. He took out a cigarette, about to smoke to ease his anxiety and anger. However, he gave up because he remembered Lea was pregnant. âSorry, I forgot you are preggers!â Samuel added flatly when Lea almost scolded him.
Silence struck again. Samuel and Lea were lost in their thoughts. They both feel like they failed to get what they wanted.
âWhat does Paula have that I donât have?â Lea asked in a barely audible whisper. âIs she much prettier than me?â
Samuel looked at Lea and felt a little pity. Of course, Lea was beautiful as well. The mistake? Surely, there was no mistake. It was just fate who played the role-who got married first. And that was when things changed.
.....
William was married to Paula. He no longer belonged to Lea although his feelings for Lea would not completely disappear.
However, it was not Samuel who can say positive things when he was angry. âYou are too weak. You stupidly believe that love is not worth fighting for. Do you think in this world there is a loyal man without overturns back? Donât let him get bored with you! Donât let other women take him away from you! Thatâs the rule.â
Leah widened her eyes at Samuelâs words. She had been too careless and overly confident that William would never turn his back on her. During dating, the two of them only kissed, and never did more than that because Lea grew up in a conservative family. If only she was brave enough to give what a man wanted, perhaps the situation would be better.
Perhaps.
âItâs useless for you to regret everything,â Samuel commented as if he knew what was going on in Leahâs head.
âThen, what can I do now? Everything has changed. Iâm not the only woman for William,â Lea muttered in despair.
âOh, are you innocent or pretending to be innocent?â Samuel quipped slyly. âIs it true that youâve always been honest? No cheating?â
Leah swallowed. She was always scared when William started talking about Paula. When Paula fainted at the charity event, she tried to keep William from knowing Paulaâs real condition. When Samuel kissed Paula in the hospital, she even made up a story to make William believe that Samuel and Paula do have a special relationship. However, if all of them couldnât turn Williamâs attention away from Paula, what else should she do?
âHuh, itâs useless if you can do nothing like this. Iâll figure it out myself. Instead of discussing with a weak woman like you.â Samuel, who was getting bored, now stood up from his seat. âJust a waste of time.â
Samuel walked away, leaving Lea, who could only stare blankly in the area, alone. However, he remembered one thing that he should tell Lea.
âOh, I remembered that Paula always gets what she wants. She is confident and always takes the challenge. She isnât like you who can only run away when you lose.â Samuelâs sarcasm made Leaâs heartburn even more. He even had the heart to say the worst thing that Lea didnât want to hear. âAah, I heard that Paula was the one who helped you to get the blessing from Williamâs parents, no?â
Leaâs mouth shut. Her body trembled due to shame and anger.
âIndeed, from the start, you were already a loser. If you love him, win him over!â That was what Samuel said before he completely disappear from Leaâs sight.
On his way out of the house, Samuel passed his aunt and uncle who had just arrived from a dinner party.
âOh, Sam! Is that you?â Lisa greeted him. She looked tired but still tried to smile for her nephew.
âI wanted to see William. However, it turns out that he is not here,â Samuel answered, lying.
âAh, since getting married, William has not lived with us. Thereâs only Lea at home, did you see her?â Alex asked. He reached his nephew and gave him a warm hug.
âWell, it looks like Lea isnât feeling well. We talked for a while,â Samuel replied as if he did nothing wrong.
âOh, poor her. I hope William will get a divorce from Paula soon so Lea can live with him,â Lisa said with concern.
âI sometimes feel sorry for Lea. She is staying here like a prisoner. What can we do? We have promised to help William with his plan,â Alex added again.
Samuel nodded, listening to the ramblings of his uncle and aunt who had no idea of what his son was doing with Paula at the hotel at the moment. At this rate, they couldnât get divorced.
âI hope William can take responsibility for everything he did,â Samuel said pleasantly. âWell, it wasnât easy. I understand Williamâs position because Iâm in the same position as him right now.â
Lisa and Alexâs eyes popped out. They didnât expect Samuel to give such shocking news.
âOh, really?â asked Alex after he came to his senses. âAre you going to be a dad soon?â
Samuel nodded with a wink. âUnfortunately, my future wife is still someone elseâs wife. I hope the divorce process will be finished soon and we will get married asap.â
Lisa and Alex were now speechless. What did they do wrong to have such a shameless child and nephew? They impregnated women who were not their wives.
Exhaled lightly, Lisa got her composure and was able to force a smile on her nephew again. âIf you and your girlfriendâs problem is over, donât forget to bring her here. We also want to get to know her later,â Lisa said sincerely. She faced her husband, asking him to do the same for Samuel-giving him total support.
Samuel smiled and shook his head slowly. âUncle, aunt, I donât feel comfortable saying this. However, you two know her well,â Samuel said quietly as if he felt bad about what he was about to say.
âOh, who is she?â Alex asked impatiently.
âThe daughter of our business partner?â Lisa asked hopefully.
Samuel gave a gentle wink. His gaze turned to Lea who had just come out of the living room, about to greet Williamâs parents.
âCorrect. My lover is the daughter of your business partner,â Samuel replied with a light smile, full of secret intentions.
âWho?â Alex asked, probingly. âDonât make us curious to death, Sam!â
Samuel glanced at his watch. His brows furrowed. âItâs quite late. Next time weâll talk about her again. I donât want to go home late tonight,â Samuel excused himself.
âOh, young man! Donât make me sleepless tonight! I know you donât have a curfew,â Alex insisted.
He didnât want Samuel to mess around with his business partnerâs daughter. Paula and Williamâs divorce almost brought trouble to them because Paulaâs father was about to withdraw his investment. Fortunately, a few days ago Robert said that he would keep the investment, so they didnât have to worry about going bankrupt. However, Robert was reluctant to tell them the reason why he changed his mind in such a short time.
âSamuel, do your parents know about this?â Lisa thought that Samuel was afraid because they would leak the shocking news and tell his parents.
Samuel shook his head. âIf I tell you, will you keep this a secret from my father and mother?â He mentioned his condition.
âSam, whatâs the point of hiding something like this from them?â Alex objected furiously. He opposed this idea.
âUncle, itâs not that I donât want to tell mom and dad, but Iâll tell them later,â Samuel said calmly, patting his uncleâs shoulder.
âAlright then, just say it. I wonât tell your parents,â Lisa promised. âIs that so, Alex?â
Alex nodded. He would not be able to withstand the curiosity until dawn.
Samuel remained silent, considering what he should say. But suddenly, unexpectedly, Lea said, âIs that Paula?â
All eyes turned to Lea in disbelief.
Lisa, who couldnât buy it, immediately refuted, âHow could it be-â
âIâm sorry, aunt! But Paula and I had this planned.â Samuel told his lies. âWe are lovers.â
