Chapter 780
Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)
Tate sneered as his other rich friends had told him that those nearby surveillance cameras had broken down. As for the witnesses, they were all his friends who went street racing with him, so they would certainly side with him, which was why he wasnât worried at all.
At this moment, the police officer said again, âMoreover, weâll do a blood test on the driver. If itâs drunk driving, the punishment will be harsher. You might even go to jail! Miss, I hope that youâll think it through before admitting it.â
Upon hearing that, Joanna was flabbergasted. Then, she quickly responded, âSir, I wasnât the driver. I didnât drive the car. It was him. He wanted me to take the fall for him. Sir, I really didnât driveâ¦â she yelled.
It was her best friendâs birthday today, so she had drunk a lot. If the police pursued the matter, she would be regarded as drunk driving. By then, she would be thrown behind bars.
Tateâs expression changed in an instant as he hurriedly asked, âJoanna, w-what are you talking about? Stop spouting nonsense. You donât have to be afraid of them!â
She waved her hands and shouted, âSir, I really wasnât the driver. My friends can testify for me that I didnât drive.â As she spoke, she swung her hands at the people on the other side. âHey, testify for me! I didnât drive!â
Those rich kids repeatedly nodded. âSir, we can testify that she didnât drive.â
At that instant, he was rooted to the spot. They were actually Joannaâs friends and he knew them through her. After such an incident happened, naturally, those people would side with her instead of him.
Upon seeing that, Helen rushed over and pointed at Joanna before snarling, âHow can you do this to Tate? Donât you remember what you said? You said that you were the driver, but now youâre changing your statement. Why are you so shameless?â
Joanna rebuked, âI wasnât the driver, so why should I take the blame? You want me to go to jail? Iâm telling youâno way!â
Feeling anxious, Helen responded, âYou want my nephew to be imprisoned, then? Donât forget that he borrowed the car tonight for you!â
Through clenched teeth, Joanna said, âHe did it willingly! Moreover, I told him to head home after dinner, but he insisted on coming here for street racing. How can you blame me for this?â
Helen snarled, âBullsh*t! If it werenât for you, he wouldnât have borrowed the car from us! Itâs because you forced him to borrow the car that such a thing happened!â
Joanna retorted, âThen, did he make love to me because I forced him to?â
Helen was lost for words at that instant. With her face red with anger, she couldnât utter a word.
On the other hand, the police officerâs expression had already darkened when he waved his hand and interrupted, âAlright, stop talking. Bring all of them back and investigate the case thoroughly.â
The other officers hurriedly took action and captured Tate and Joanna.
A flustered Tate struggled out of the officersâ grip and cried anxiously, âAunt Helen! Aunt Helen! Help me! Helpâ¦â
Helen said in a fretful manner, âWhat are you doing? Heâs still young. Just let me personally bring him to the police station!â
Upon seeing that the police officers were coming at him, Tate pushed one of them away and turned in an attempt to flee. Right after Tate began to run, Matthew landed a kick on his chest, causing him to fall to the ground. The officers then reached him and pinned him down.
Helen growled, âMatthew, what are you doing?â
In a solemn voice, Matthew replied, âMom, heâs now resisting arrest and attacking the police. If he really flees, heâd be tried in court in the future. Are you helping him or destroying him?â
She was lost for words. Just like what Matthew had said, if Tate managed to flee, the matter would become worse. By then, Tate couldnât possibly bear the punishment of multiple charges.
