Chapter 795
Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)
Meanwhile, James almost jolted in shock as well.
What a serious problem it wasâit would need a million at least.
And yet, youâre only contributing 20,000? Howâs that fair? Youâre not being sincere at all!
Even though weâre supposed to top up the remaining amount, what youâre doing is no different from not contributing at allâit seems like my family is paying the full amount!
Sure enough, the Cunninghams now had a completely new understanding of the Campbells from this incidentâthey were truly shameless on a whole new level that was beyond their imagination.
However, Chloe said in resignation, âItâs not that Iâm not willing to pay more, Sashaâwe really canât afford it.â
âWe just bought a house, and weâve spent all our money on it. We also bought a lot of things after returning home this time, so thatâs another huge sum. This 20,000 is all we have left in our savings. If we give it to you, w-we donât even know if weâll be able to survive this month!â
Sasha was overwhelmed by her sudden pleading. This isnât a reality show, so whatâs the point of acting so miserable? Your children are swiping credit cards and living luxuriously every single day, and it doesnât seem like youâre short on money at all.
âWhatever it is, t-this amount is still too little, Aunt Chloe!â Sasha replied in resignation.
Minerva chimed in and added hastily, âDo you think weâd be doing this if we really had the money, Sasha?â
âW-We really donât have anyâ¦â
âAunt Helen, you wouldnât want to see us begging on the streets, right?â
Upon hearing that, Helen quickly said, âDonât worry, sweetie. Iâm here. Come on, Sasha.â She sighed and continued, âCanât you save me some trouble for once? You have such a huge companyâitâs worth at least more than a billion. How hard is it to fork out a million? Besides, Matthewâs construction company and its subsidiary, Wellness Herbary, are worth a lot of money too. Isnât it just a million? Why are you being so fussy about it?â
Sasha immediately turned to her mother and said, âT-This isnât about the money, Mom. Itâs about the attitude!â
Helen responded angrily, âYouâre right. Itâs an attitude problemâyour attitude is absolutely rotten! Look at how youâre treating your aunt and cousins! Iâm telling you thisâyouâve gone too far this time!â
Sashaâs head started spinning, but she couldnât say anything in return. She could only wave her hand dismissively to calm her motherâs frustration. âSure sure, whatever you say. All right, Iâll cover the entire amount. Keep the 20,000 to yourself too. I hope youâre happy now!â
Chloe finally put on a broad grin. âThank you so much, Sasha. I knew I wasnât wrong to take care of you so well!â
Sasha didnât want to hear any of those words.
Just then, Matthew said, âIâd have to trouble you to take care of the rest, Mr. Manning. When the time comes, just let us know how much you need. â
Mr. Manning immediately replied in a respectful tone, âDonât you worry, Mr. Larson. Iâll handle it from here.â
Matthew nodded with a smile. âThank you, Mr. Manning!â
Mr. Manning seemed to be pleasantly surprised by Matthewâs earnesty, so he quickly said, âDonât mention it, Mr. Larson. Itâs an honor to be of your service!â
Then, the lawyer took his leave ahead. Chloe looked at Matthew in astonishment and asked, âWhy was that lawyer so exceptionally polite to you, Matthew? Are you guys close?â
Matthew replied, âYeah, heâs a mutual friend.â
With that, Chloe didnât linger on the topic. She simply said to him, âIn that case, you really need to get him to work harder, Matthew. Tate canât go to jail, okay? Heâs our familyâs hope, and he has always treated Sasha like a sister. Youâre his brother-in-law, so you have to protect him!â
Matthew didnât answer, for this wasnât an easy matter to resolve.
Meanwhile, Minerva chimed in from the side and said, âDonât worry, Mom. Since Sasha has already agreed to help, nothing can go wrong! As the president of a company, wouldnât it be shameful if she canât even handle something like this?â
Sasha took in a deep breath; she almost couldnât hold herself back from landing a slap on Minervaâs face.
This womanâs mouth was still full of passive aggressiveness even at this stageâhow unbearable she was!
