Living Silently
"Noel"
"Amar you have to put socks on, hurry up it's your last day of school," I told him and he turned around to go put socks on his feet. It had been two weeks of him living here and I loved it. He had been accepted into this private school as a scholarship kid and I would be starting classes during the summer so I wouldn't have to work. That was the deal if I went to school year round I'd get paid my salary as long as I kept up my GPA. Amar was a little behind the other kids since he spent most of his time distance learning while in the hospital. I'd have to get him caught up during the summer so he'd be prepared for the first grade.
He ran back to me and looked like he had a question," When is Austin spending the night again," he asked. Last weekend he built a fort and watched all the Pixar movies with us. Amar really enjoyed that and liked when Austin would play football with him at the park during the week. Austin who had started work at the firm would come over almost every day to spend time with us and even helped Chloe get her stuff out of storage.
"He's coming over tomorrow, go get your book bag little man so we can go," I told him as my phone began to vibrate in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw that it was my brother JoJo. I answered it and he requested a video call. The first thing I noticed was Chanel in a hospital bed in tears.
"Yo Noel the doctor said she's crowning and can't get the epidural is that true," JoJo shouted.
"What is going on," I shouted back.
"She's having the baby her water broke in her sleep, is it true," he replied.
"Yeah that would be too dangerous she's going to have to do it naturally."
"Joseph Isaac Smith I swear to God I'm going to kill you when this is done," she said and then the image on the screen went black. I immediately called Chloe.
"It's my day off," she answered.
"Chanel is having the baby," I said and I heard her shuffle around. Amar ran back in the living room now prepared to leave so I motioned for him to follow me.
"Are you sure," she asked and I heard the voice of another in the background.
"Yes, I'm going to send you the money for a plane ticket so you can be there. I can't leave just yet so you're going to have to go alone," I told her.
"Alright, I'll call you in a few tell Amar that I said hello," she ordered before hanging up on me. I was excited for my brother to be having his first child. He always wanted six and now he had the first one. Amar walked to my car and got into the back seat taking his booster seat since he was short for his age. I drove all the way to the school where teachers were standing on the sidewalk waiting to usher in students. I turned back and made sure his uniform was together and he smiled at me.
"Last day, you be good and I'll buy you that race track you wanted," I said and he smiled big and wide.
"See you later," he said getting out of the car. I waited for him to get inside before I pulled off going to the university bookstore. I had to buy books which a few years ago would have caused me so much dread but the hospital was paying for them so I gladly picked up everything on the list unlike when I was paying for school. There would be times when I'd sneak into the bookstore and rip the plastic off a book and take pictures of the pages I needed to read. As I was reaching for a book when someone pushed up against me. I turned immediately enraged at the feeling of a penis grazing my back then calmed down.
"You look and smell nice today," Austin said with a smile on his face. He wore a black suit with a white shirt and black tie. He looked good in the suit I had bought him as a birthday present not more than two days ago.
"How did you know I was here," I asked him.
"You told me yesterday you'd come here right after you dropped our son off," Austin said before he kisses me. Since I had told him I was in love with him he had become more affectionate towards me and I was accepting it. He'd also went from being supportive of me fostering Amar to taking interest in Amar as much as I did.
"I asked for an early lunch so I could come to see you," he told me.
"Would you mind picking up Amar from school today. Chanel is having the baby and I'm going to be on the phone with them all day," I asked him.
"Of course I will. Make sure to tell them I said congratulations. I'll drop him off at your place," he said his hands now on my sides.
"Then maybe you could tell me why you've been a little off lately," I told him. It wasn't anything big that I noticed but he would check his phone more than normal or he'd stare off into space.
"What do you mean," he asked.
"You've been a little bit different lately,"I said as I began walking to the counter with my books. He stopped me and grabbed the books from my hand and carried them to the counter for me.
"Yeah something happened I'll tell you about it later and bring some Chinese food," he said. I pulled out the company card and bought the books before we walked out of the bookstore.
"I'll be over around eight," he said before kissing me. I could feel myself blushing as I watched him walk away. It felt like eight would take forever to get there so I ended up calling my brother on the ride home and heard a small voice wailing.
"Noel she has a set of lungs on her. Toni is going to be a singer," was JoJo's first words to me.
"It's a girl," I explained with a smile and drove to Amar's school deciding to pick him up three hours early. I texted Austin telling him that I was getting the Amar early instead.
"Yeah, she's a pretty bald baby," JoJo said sounding emotional.
"Congratulations JoJo I'm really happy for you," I told him. He thanked me before we hung up. I pulled up to Amar's school and got out the car and made my way to the front office asking to sign out Amar. It smelled like pumpkin spice in the room even though it was May. Ten minutes of standing around and Amar came into the office with a big smile on his face and food stains on his clothes.
"Hey buddy how did you do today," I asked holding my hand out. He pulled his book bag off his back and pulled out his agenda and handed it to me. I flipped through the pages until I found today's date and saw a big green smile stamp on the page and looked down smiling at him.
"Good job, since you got all greens you get a McFlurry if the machine is working," I told him. He jumped up and down causing the secretaries to giggle in amusement. After he calmed down we went to the car and I took him to get his treat before taking him home. Walking inside Amar shot past me to the television.
"Shower, change, then tv," I told him grabbing the remote before he could. He loved tv to the point where he'd stay looking at the screen not doing anything else for hours. He got up and went to his room to do what I told him to do. I took a seat on the couch and kicked my shoes off tired from not really doing much. My eyes began to feel heavy then everything started to fade into the background.
I woke up to small hands shaking me awake.
"Noel...Noel! Someone's at the door and you said I'm supposed to get you," Amar said. I shot up and walked to the door "you did good," I told him before opening the door to Austin who had changed out of his suit and was now wearing joggers and a grey shirt that showed off his muscles. A big brown bag was in his hand and smelled of delicious American-Chinese mix cuisine.
"Hey baby," he said pulling me into a kiss with his free hand.
"Eww," Amar said from behind us. Austin chuckled as he pulled away.
"Kissing won't be so eww when you get a little girlfriend," he said as I stepped to the side allowing him in.
"I got you some noodles," he said walking to the kitchen and placing the food on the counter.
"Are you staying the night," Amar asked him with a look of excitement.
"If you want me to."
"Yes, Noel can he stay tonight," Amar asked me and I nodded. He started celebrating until his show came back from commercial. I turned to Austin who was drinking juice straight from the carton. I glared at him and he put it down with a guilty smile.
"So what do you need to tell me," I asked him. His smile went away and he walked over and grabbed my hand leading me to my bedroom. Once inside he kicked his shoes off and climbed on my bed. I got beside him and felt a hand on my side.
"So my brothers got in touch with me and couple of weeks ago. Apparently, my dad is sick and asked for me. We never saw eye to eye with one another. He can be mean, verbally abusive and manipulative. We never had a good relationship and my brothers took after him so we never got along. My dad didn't take it well when I bought my first boyfriend home to meet my family in high school. He stopped talking to me other than ordering me around the farm. He didn't even let me come to my mom's funeral. They wanted me to come and see him but I can't go backward. My brothers do whatever he tells them to do and my sisters married off to get away from him. I don't want to go back there but I feel this guilt. I should be helping take care of my dad. He wasn't kind but he put food on the table and made sure we were healthy physically so I feel this pull," he said looking me in the eyes.
"Austin you don't owe him anything. His job was to do those things he," I was cut off by him kissing me.
"I'm sorry I just like hearing you defending me," he said before going back in to kiss me. His hands began rubbing me up and down. I could feel my heart beat quicker as I began really participating in the kiss. My body began to shift as Austin positioned me on top of him. I could feel his manhood hardening under my shifting weight and slowly his hands made their way into my underwear. His skin was warm against mine and his fingers squeezed hard eliciting a moan.
Was this really happening? Was I really considering doing "it" with him I had to ask myself?
"I love you... I want you," Austin said in a husky whisper that aroused me.
"I love you too," I told him just as there was a knock on the door.
"Oh shit Amar is still awake," Austin said pulling his hands from my pants. I laid my head next to his as the knock happened again.
"Daddy, I need help," my head shot up at the sound of Amar's voice calling me dad. I jumped off of Austin and positioned myself in my pants so it wouldn't be obvious.
"He just called me dad," I said to Austin who smiled at me as I walked over to the door.
"You were about to be calling me daddy," Austin whispered.
"I can hear you," I said while blushing then opened the door and looked down at Amar who's face was covered in blood from the nose down.
"Oh shit," Austin said getting up jumping off the bed.
"I don't feel so good," Amar said to me holding the side of his face...
