Chapter 139
Wife by Day Boss by Night ( (Natalie and Brian )
Chapter 139
âYou can never be too sure.â Sadie shrugged, her volce low and confessional. âMr. Smith has a love child from a fling he had years ago.â
That was treading into the murky waters of personal secrets. Natalie caught the hint and didnât prod any further.
âAnything else you wanna know, Natalie?â Sadle couldnât help but ask, her curiosity piqued.
âNo, thatâs all. Go get some rest, itâs way past midnight,â Natalie replied softly.
Sadie found it odd that Natalie didnât inquire about how Nate had been doing these past few years, but then again, considering the bad blood between Brian and Natalle, maybe it was best not to stir up sad memories.
After one last glance at Natalie, Sadie turned and left the room without another word.
Once alone, Natalieâs gaze lingered on the envelope stuffed with photos before a flicker of malice crossed her eyes. She grabbed her purse, which Sadie had brought up earller, and rummaged through it to find a compact mirror. Sliding the mirror aside, she retrieved a tiny SIM card hidden within.
She charged her phone, powered it up, and inserted the secret SIM card. The contacts list held only a handful of numbers. Natalie dialed one and waited patiently for an answer.
âYeah?â A groggy voice answered after several seconds.
âItâs me,â Natalie said, her voice even.
âGreat, at 2:30 in the morning! If it wasnât you, Iâd have torn anyone else a new one!â The man on the other end was irritated.
âYou sound a bit cranky, Caleb,â Natalie chuckled lightly.
âI havenât slept for like three days, so spit it out!â Caleb barked.
âWhatâs got you so busy? Youâre usually the king of slackers,â Natalie teasedâ¦
âWhy the hell do you care so damn much?!â Caleb, trying not to wake up the woman next to him. rolled out of bed and stepped onto the balcony.
After sliding the balcony door shut, he couldnât resist muttering. âWomen, such a pain in the
ass!â
Caleb was a typical playboy, born into a family that hadnât worried about money for generations. He had a reputation for never dating the same woman twice in a year.
Natalie had first crossed paths with Caleb while on a Regal Reavers mission at the base, catching him in the act of flirting with a gorgeous journalist.
But from his tone, it sounded like some formidable woman had finally gotten the best of him.

âActually, there is a bit of trouble, and I need your help.â Natalle admitted with a smile,
âOut with it,â Caleb said tersely. âMy lifeâs yours, whatever you need, consider it done,â
Natalie had once inadvertently saved Caleb, and that was her secret to winning over his loyalty, âHas your mother approved any projects with Gracia in them in the past couple of months?â Natalie asked quietly.
âLet me check.â Caleb strode to the adjacent study and fired up his computer. In a few minutes, he replied, âYeah, there are two, each sent back for edits once already.â
âCould you send them back again unless they recast Gracia,â Natalle instructed coolly. âThese directors are bold to work with a taxâevading scandalâhit actress.â
Caleb raised an eyebrow and nodded, âFair point.â
âThatâs it, then. Go get some sleep.â Natalie said, ready to hang up.
As she was about to disconnect, Caleb quickly added, âOh, about those design blueprints from last time, my dad is really impressed. He wants to meet you, the architectural genius, in person.â
Both Truth Group and Global Entertainmentâs new headquarters were masterpieces designed by Natalie herself, with the latter featuring in top international architectural magazines.
