Chapter 169
Wife by Day Boss by Night ( (Natalie and Brian )
Chapter 169
Since things had come to this point, whether she and Kellan would ever tie the knot, Natalie felt it was only fair he knew about her past relationship with Brian. Even though he felt like a brother to her, Kellan had become a part of her family, and he deserved to know the truth.
Natalieâs pause stretched too long, and something clicked in Kellanâs mind.
He hadnât wanted to bring up Brian, but it was clear that Brian had become an issue between
him and Natalie.
âItâs about him, isnât it?â Kellan spoke up the moment Natalie opened her mouth to speak.
Their eyes met as Natalie lifted her gaze.
âDid you know Brian dumped thirty million into my account several days ago?â Kellan probed further.
Natalie suddenly remembered that night when Brian asked her how much Kellan had given her over the years, vowing to pay it back tenfold or a hundred fold. She hadnât expected Brian to follow through!
Noticing the shift in Natalieâs eyes, Kellan grabbed her wrist and examined it. He had noticed something about her wrist earlier.
âSo, what Gavin told me was true,â he said quietly, staring at the faint marks that hadnât completely faded from her skin. They were from the belt Brian had used that night.
âDid you agree, or did Brian force it on you?â His grip tightened around Natalieâs hand.
Natalie hadnât expected Gavin to spill the beans to Kellan. That was outside her plans. She hesitated before replying, âNo matter what happened at that time, itâs alreadyâ¦â
âSo, he forced you.â Kellan cut her off, not letting her continue.
Kellan was barely suppressing a raging fury, managing to stand calmly before Natalie.
His Natalie, whom he cherished and treated like a precious treasure, whom he couldnât bear to touch too roughly, whom he respected and cared for, was trampled underfoot by that man, her dignity crushed, her body harmed.
âIâll kill him,â he said softly, his eyes filled with a bloodthirsty ferocity.
If he killed Brian, he could ensure Natalie would never be hurt again.
âDonât!â Natalieâs heart leaped, and her gaze locked onto his.
âKellan, you mean so much to me! I donât want you to get hurt because of me! Brianâ¦â
âDonât?â Kellan couldnât help frowning. Brian had hurt her so badly, yet she was still protecting
Brian.

âOf course not!â Natalie replied, her brows tightly furrowed.
She knew well the extent of Kellanâs capabilities and influence. But Brian was also no pushover. If Kellan went after him, it was bound to backfire!
She didnât want Kellan to make such a sacrifice for her and couldnât bear to see him hurt again because of her, like that time Brian tampered with his medication, nearly turning him into a vegetable.
âNatalie, no one can stop me from doing what Iâve decided,â Kellan said, each word heavy
with intent.
Natalie had never seen Kellan so terrifying, as if he had lost all control.
âGive me time!â she pleaded desperately, throwing her arms around him and burying her face in his chest. âJust a little more time! You know Audrey owes the Howard family, not me!â
âGive you time, and Brian magically turns into a saint?â Kellan couldnât help but let out a wry laugh.
âJust one year! In one yearâ¦â
Before Natalie could finish, a loud shattering sound from behind interrupted her. The restaurantâs glass windows had exploded.
Silence reigned for a few seconds, then chaos ensued.
