Chapter.11- Adam Eve And Snake

Heart Of Maison

Eleven: Adam Eve And Snake!

Eyes off of you- PRETTYMUCH

______________

The valet opened the car door on either side and I stepped out into the cool night whilst thanking the bloke. I turned to Kayden, he came around the car and stood beside me with a grin on his face. "Goodness! Don't tell me we're eating at The Wellesley Knightsbridge?" I asked in absolute awe when my gaze flickered to the building in front of me.

The restaurant was uber-luxurious and I'd heard both my parents and the newspapers mention it quite a lot. It had quite an excellent reputation.

Instantly the grin on his face vanished and was replaced with nervousness. "Errr... yes, indeed! I've got reservations at the Oval Restaurant," he said. "You don't like it here?" He asked. "We can go someplace else if you want. Something fancy yet simple, I know a couple of places." He bit his lip looking unsure.

My mouth hung open. "Are you bloody joking?" I asked in disbelief. "I love it, Kayden. It's just that I've never been here and I've heard my parents talk about how this place is exquisite and luxurious," I informed him with an assuring smile and sidled up to him. "I'm sorry if I gave you the impression that I didn't like it."

He blinked twice and relief coursed his body when he comprehended what I'd just said. "Oh, fab! I thought you didn't like the hotel."

"No, I love it. I've always wanted to go here. So thank you for bringing me here," I said genuinely feeling delighted.

Surprise flickered across his features, his grey eyes widening.

"You've never been here?" Disbelief coloured his voice. "You need to eat here, the food here is extraordinary. Well, I'm glad I chose this place then." Feeling chuffed, he straightened his jacket but spoke once again, "oh, my apologies for not telling you this sooner," he slapped his forehead which I found amusing and adorable, "you look beautiful tonight, Rebecca." He graced me with a heart-stopping grin.

My cheeks pinkened and I gave him a shy smile. "No worries. Thank you, I try!" I batted my eyelashes at him which only made him chuckle. "You don't look bad yourself." I complimented back.

"So no you look beautiful, handsome even remark?" He teased with a cheeky grin.

I hid my face with my hands blushing and cringing as I recalled our conversation during the party. "Stop it!" I groaned.

He let out a laugh and shook his head. "Fine, I'll stop teasing. You're cute when you blush." He winked.

I blushed even more. "Stooopp!" I laughed.

"Shall we, m'lady?" Smiling, he held out his hand for me.

I laughed at his silliness. "Yes, we shall Mr Adams." I took his hand and he handed his keys to the valet and we both entered the restaurant with smiles on our faces.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Wellesley Knightsbridge screamed opulence. The smiling doorman opened the bronze doors and welcomed us warmly, as soon I stepped foot into the marbled floors, I was blinded by the grandiose crystal chandeliers hanging above.
Everything was sparkly and bright. It was like a reflection of what I was currently feeling.
Looking around I was impressed with the immensity of the hotel interiors and I couldn't put into words how gorgeous the hotel was. Kayden led me into the Oval restaurant, where he spoke to the concierge.
"Good evening sir. Do you have a reservation?" The old man behind the concierge's desk inquired stiffly.
"Indeed. It's under Kayden Adams."
He typed on the keyboard for five seconds and lifted his head up. "Ah, yes. Kayden Adams, table for two. Right this way sir." He gave us a smile and led us to our table.
The Oval Restaurant was aesthetically pleasing, with seating just for twenty-five people; it had a very intimate feel making it an ideal place for a romantic dinner. We thanked the maître d'hôtel who led us to our table. Kayden pulled out a chair for me and I sat down thanking him and then he moved around and sat down in the other chair.
The extremely low lighting and unusual oval shape enhanced the ambience, making the restaurant feel homey.
"It's so beautiful here." There was so much awe in my voice. I placed the napkin on my lap. It was so romantic and no one had ever done this before for me.
"I'm glad you like it. Only the best for you." He winked at me and I ducked my head. My cheeks warmed up, so I busied myself by looking at the menu.
Our waiter was ready to serve us the moment we sat down. "Good evening, I am Lorenzo and I'll be taking your orders and serving you tonight," he announced with a smile as he stood beside us.
We greeted him and looked at the menu. The menu offered a good choice of authentic Italian dishes. He provided us with an extensive wine list and - on his advice, we chose the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which was lovely dry red.
I was looking around with childlike wonder, the décor was similar to that of the entire hotel, fusing art décor and contemporary styles with a slick and understated modern finish. A grand, state-of-the-art chandelier hung above us whilst the white marble flooring had a striking grey pattern and delicate gold edging.
From the coffee-coloured leather banquette style seating frames to the edge of the room with a huge bouquet of white orchids, soft pink flowers and green foliage placed on the central table enhanced the aesthetic appeal of the place.
As we sipped on our wine, a basket of homemade, warm bread was placed on the table, they gave off a delicious aroma. This made my stomach rumble, I looked up to see Kayden laughing.
"Looks like someone's hungry. Let's tuck in," he said chuckling.
"That would be great. Thank you," I said relieved. I tore a piece of the bread and dipped it in the Sicilian olive oil, which was so fresh that it tasted as if the olives had been pressed right here at the restaurant.
"Mhmm, these are delicious," I let out savouring the taste.
He agreed, "Indeed! They change the menu here every season to offer diners the best food using the freshest ingredients." He explained as he popped a piece of bread into his mouth.
I was so amazed at the piece of information I got from Kayden. "Really? That's phenomenal! You seem to know a lot about the place." I sipped some water. "Do you come here often?"
"I do. I come here often because I love the food and I know the chef," he told me.
Just then Lorenzo arrived to take our orders. "Have you two decided yet?" Lorenzo asked with a smile on his face.
"You can order first," Kayden said.
I shrugged and looked up to Lorenzo. "I'll have the Quinoa salad with beetroot hummus, baby vegetables, and halloumi. And I'll also have the wild sea bass with a salt crust, please." I placed my order.
"Excellent choice!" Lorenzo grinned and turned to Kayden. "Your order Mr Adams?"
"I'll have the burrata, heirloom cherry tomato salad, and pesto. And I'll have the Dover sole please." Both of us handed our menus to Lorenzo and he went to get our order.
"Adequate, I shall be back with your orders in no time." Lorenzo left.
"So, how's university and singing going along?" Kayden asked me, breaking the ice.
I kept both my hands on my lap and played with the fabric of the tablecloth, and met his inquisitive gaze. "University is dreary but, it's going on well. Singing, as usual, is refreshing now that we've advanced into the Finals and as you know we still are working very hard for world domination," I told him.
He let out a low laugh. "Yes, I know, and by looks of how hard you're working world domination isn't that hard to achieve. You've already won so many titles." He gave me an encouraging smile but added, "so when's the competition?" He took a sip of his wine.
"Thank you, I appreciate you saying that." I gushed. "The competition is in a fortnight's time and since everyone's on vacation we'll begin practice next week."
He nodded his head. "That's nice. You and your team deserve a bit of break."
I flashed him a smile. "So how's university and modelling going on for you? I'm sure yours is way more hectic than mine."
He opened his mouth to speak, but just then the food arrived, the aroma of the food wafted to my nostrils and it was divine! Thanking Lorenzo we wasted no time and tucked in, I took a bite out of my salad and I nearly moaned, it was an utter indulgence.
"Judging by the expression you've got, I take it you love the food," Kayden said with a smug smile on his face.
I nodded my head, slightly flushed. "It's divine. I can't believe I've never eaten here before." I chewed my food and swallowed and looked up to Kayden. "So, back to my earlier question, you haven't answered." I reminded him.
He put his fork and knife down and leaned forward a bit. In that moment he looked so dreamy, and handsome, I noticed some girls glance his way, but I didn't let that bother me.
"University isn't...boring, it's just very stressful at the moment. Yes, it's quite demanding, both university and modelling, but it's nothing I can't manage. I've got some photoshoots lined up for me, there's one in Canada," he informed as he picked up his fork. "And, now that I've got uni break, I can focus on modelling and don't have to worry about university work piling up." He put a piece of meat in his mouth and continued eating.
Picking up my fork, I spoke, "Mhmm, but you seem to be handling it exceptionally well and I've never seen you exhausted or stressed. I admire that. And it's nice to hear that you've got your hands full with shoots lined up."
He snorted. "If only my manager can hear you right now! But thank you for that compliment." He flashed me a blinding smile.
I nodded my head and took a bite of my main course. We conversed about our likes and dislikes, what we want to do in the future. What we like to do in our leisure, hobbies. He even made me laugh, told me about his brother and how he wanted to quit being a doctor and become a model as well. It was very comfortable, I was not nervous one bit and the conversation flowed smoothly, along with soft music in the background.
"So, now for dessert, have you agreed on anything yet?" Lorenzo asked us, handing us the dessert menu.
I looked at the dessert menu, my eyes scanned the desirable choices, and everything looked mouthwatering. After a few minutes of having an inner conflict of what to choose, I finally settled on one. "I'll have the triple chocolate bavarois with mandarin sorbet, please." I handed the menu back.
"I'll have the tiramisu." Kayden handed the menu and sipped on his wine.
"Oooh, classic. I like it!" I teased him. He just shrugged and winked as he sipped his wine.
Finally, the dessert arrived and it took everything in me to not take out my phone and take a picture of it. It was plated so beautifully, I felt bad ruining it with my spoon. But then it looked delicious and was beckoning for me to just tuck in.
"Christ, this is so good! Do you want some?" I asked Kayden.
He nodded and took a bite out of my dessert. "That's quite nice. Want some authentic and classic tiramisu?" He asked.
I didn't have to be told twice, I just took a huge spoonful of the tiramisu and let me tell you, it was one of the best tiramisus I've ever tasted in my life. He saw me eyeing the Tiramisu and shared the rest with me, he pushed the plate towards me and I was hesitant at first but when he insisted, I lifted the plate up and placed it in front of me. We finished our dessert and Kayden asked for the bill.
Lorenzo brought our bill and Kayden took out his credit card to pay and I stopped him. "We'll split the bill, Kayden."
He shook his head adamantly. "No, no, absolutely not! I'll pay. I can never let a lady pay on a date."
I frowned. "Kayden, no, I'm not letting you pay the entire bill. We'll just split the bill." I argued.
He disagreed. "I won't allow it, Rebecca. I'll pay the bill. How about this, since it's our first date I'll pay and when we go out again then maybe we can split the bill." He reasoned.
I stared at him for a few seconds and begrudgingly agreed. Stubborn as always.
"Fine. But next time I'll pay," I told him leaving no room for argument.
He conceded and paid the bill, Lorenzo thanked and wished us a good night.
"Goodnight Lorenzo, thank you for serving us." I thanked him and we left.
Just as we are about to leave, Kayden's phone began vibrating. He fished it out from his trousers and frowned at the caller.
"I'm so sorry, I have to take this. Will you be alright by yourself?" He inquired worriedly as he touched my arm. I felt warm his skin made contact with mine.
I narrowed my eyes slightly at him. "I'll be fine Kayden, I'm not a child that's going to lose her way. Go, I'll have to use the loo anyway. I'll be waiting near the fountain. Yeah?"
He nodded. "Fab!" And walked a little farther away.
I had to ask someone the directions to the loo and it took me a while to find it, once I finished my business I headed towards the entrance and made my way towards the fountain, it was secluded off to the side. But still a few people were surrounded around the fountain and admired it.
The fountain was beautiful, water spouted from the mouth of a marble figure of a mermaid, the water gushed and fell into the pool below, lights were adorned around it which made it look beautiful, and the background was a lush green tall hedge. I took out my phone and snapped a picture of it and took a selfie of me standing in front of it. I looked around smiling and exhaled the weather was warm and pleasant, just like the date.
I enjoyed the peace, I could hear the sound of cars and people bustling about in the distance. All was fairly well until I was interrupted by a familiar male voice.
"Well, well, well, who do we have here?"
I froze but let out a low growl and whirled around.
************************
Caleb's POV (surprise)
"I don't think that's a good idea, dear, you've had enough alcohol that'll last for this entire month." Mum admonished dad.
We were seated in the private dining of the Jazz Lounge so that we could have some privacy and family time without being interrupted by anyone. My parents were patrons of the Wellesley Knightsbridge and wanted to have dinner here. Jazz music played in the background ft. my parents arguing.
"Just one glass! One simply cannot come to the Wellesley and not try their signature whiskeys, mon amour!" Dad tried to have his way.
After we were finished with dinner, my younger sister and I watched them bicker. We then decided to move to the Crystal Bar at dad's insistence that he had to have one of their signature whiskeys. With his health condition, dad wasn't supposed to drink, and mum was very cautious and strict about his diet and let him have one cheat day which was tomorrow but she allowed him to have his way today.
"I bet you fifty pounds mum's going to agree and let him have his way." My sister whispered conspiratorially.
I snorted. "I'll bet a hundred pounds she'll regret her decision and be upset when we leave." We both snickered together because that's how it normally ended.
With my hands inside the pockets of my suit trousers, I strolled through the Wellesley, everything here was pristine. As we passed the Oval Restaurant I turned my head and scanned the place, but I stilled, my eyes widening when I saw one particular person leaning across the table digging their spoon in the dish and stuffing it into their mouth a generous spoonful of what I assumed to be pudding of sorts and smiling brightly at a bloke.
My lips thinned and I narrowed my eyes and leaned to my left a wee bit to get a good glimpse of who that bloke was when a couple blocked my view as they exited the restaurant.
"Oi stop peeping like Peeping Tom it's embarrassing!" My sister chided.
I blinked, turned around and began walking before people could notice me. But couldn't stop thinking about what I saw and the questions that arose in my mind.
I convinced myself maybe that's not her and I mistook it for someone else.
********************
"Conduire prudemment et bouclez votre ceinture de sécurité garçon!" Dad patted my cheek.
He was completely sloshed. Instead of only trying their signature whiskeys, he had also tried their cognacs and Armagnac collections. He was spoilt for choice.
"T'en fais pas, papa!" I sighed.
"Ben, monte dans la Voiture!" Mum looked mad.
He had heart and other ailments and the stubborn old man had a drink. My mother let it slide because it was after a long time that we had a family dinner out like this. But my dad just took it up a notch and it didn't bode well for him.
"Ne sois pas contrarié amour!" Dad put a hand around her shoulder. She just sighed and helped him in the car. Then she turned around and walked towards me.
"Drive home safe baby. Don't forget to call and visit your parent's boy!" She kissed my cheek. This was the first proper family dinner we've had in three years at a restaurant after I'd left home and haven't visited my parents for quite some time.
I nodded my head and smiled. "I will mum. Goodnight!"
She smiled and got in the car. I waved them goodbye as the car drove away. Sighing I straightened myself and began walking, I looked to the left but my eyes caught her familiar figure again, a slow grin made its way onto my face as I strode towards her. She was taking a selfie next to the fountain.
I made a quick stop at the valet and asked him to bring my car around. I turned around and walked to where she was stood, only a part of her face was visible and I could recognize her anywhere.
"Well, well, well, who do we have here?" I mused.
At first, she froze but then she whirled around with exasperation etched on her features.
"Fuck me!" She swore.
"Harper you know that I don't ordinarily go around shagging women I've barely met." I blinked but frowned. "Why? Is your date not giving you what you want tonight? I-"
"What the hell?"
"-didn't know you're sexually active. But I think," my eyes swept her form lazily, "for you, I can make an exception if you're that desperate."
Her nose scrunched up in disgust. "Eww, gross I just ate!"
"Suit yourself." I shrugged.
"Why're you here? Don't tell me you're here to order me around and if you think I'll comply then you're mistaken because I will not hold back this time." She took a threatening step towards me.
"Oh no, love. You've performed my tasks adequately. I'm here because I'm very curious." I smiled. Because smiling at the person who hated my guts made me feel like a sassy little fucker.
She narrowed her eyes. "Curious? About what exactly?"
I bent down to her level. "That's for me to know and for you to dot dot dot..." I trailed off.
She took a step backwards. "Go back to wherever you came from Damon Salvatore." She sneered.
I twisted my lips to the side. "You know...I saw you shovelling down spoonfuls of the pudding and even took the poor lad's entire share. When will you stop bullying people like that?"
Her eyes lit up like two bonfires and I felt a jolt course through my body.
"What did you say Nobby no-mates?" She gritted out.
I took offence when she called me Nobby no-mates. "I beg your pardon!" I looked at her appalled. "For your information, I have many friends!" I defended myself and she laughed. "I'm not joking ask Lucas!"
She still didn't look convinced. "Sure whatever you say Nobby no-mates!"
I ground on my molars. "You know you should have some respect and be considerate of other people's feelings. I thought you'd outgrow this phase and stop being horrid yet you continue to loot people and not show respect."
Her face hardened. "What? When have you seen me not respect people and loot others?" She yelled.
"Me, does it ring a bell? And also the lad whose pudding you burgled!" I pointed out.
She closed her eyes and gritted her teeth. "If you don't leave now I will loot you and even beat you to a bloody pulp and turn you into shawarma."
I scoffed. "That's all you ever do because you've got nothing to lose. How did your date feel when you took his pudding? Does he know this side of yours? Did you bully him as well? You should be ashamed of yourself, Harper."
She looked livid and in a flash brought her hand forward, I caught it just in time, she looked shocked.
Yes that's right, I can defend myself now. She struggled to free herself but I twisted her arm behind her back effortlessly, making sure I didn't hurt or break her arm, she was quick-witted and brought her leg back to kick me but I jumped.
"Ha! I know all your moves, Harper, I learnt them all and I can defend myself now," I said feeling chuffed.
She struggled against me. "Let go of me, you bastard!" I heard her exhale.
She struggled but then chuckled darkly. "You're slick, but not slick enough!"
I didn't have enough time to process her words. In the blink of an eye, she freed herself and turned around swiftly whilst trying to flip me on the ground with a surprise attack when she slid her hand under my arm, an evil smirk etched her features.
But she was in for a surprise attack herself when  I was quick to decipher her intentions and swiftly placed my hand on her small waist, she turned around gasping and I quickly pulled her closer to me, she instantly retracted her hands in front of her body and away from my arm, surprise and shocked flickered across her face.
She was trapped, my one arm tightly clasped around her shoulder and the other held her head in place before she could headbutt and break my nose.
At first she was frozen with shock but then her small but very strong frame struggled against my body. It was fun to watch her struggle. My self-defense and jujutsu classes were proving helpful, right now.
"What was it you said about me not being slick?" I let out a laugh.
"Unhand me you imbecile!" She wiggled.
I laughed. "No way, love. Stop struggling, take a deep breath, it'll only get worse if you struggle. You're quite strong Harper I'll give you that."
Bloody hell she was awfully strong as she used all her strength to push me away. I wouldn't be surprised if she broke away from my grasp and turned into the Hulk!
"Don't call me that. You have no right to call me that." She grunted and continued to struggle. I laughed. "Stop laughing this isn't funny Caleb! Let go of me and I'll show you how worse it'll get!" She screamed and began to push me into the fountain.
If I go down, I'm taking her with me.
I stood my ground not being able to stop laughing. "Really? I'm waiting!"
She shook her head vigorously if she did that she'd break her neck.
"You wanker! Let go of me you're ruining my hair and dress! This is assault, I will scream and make a scene if you don't let me go!" She threatened.
"It's not assault but rather self-defense!" I corrected her.
We continued to do this, she kept protesting. "You know if you keep this up, to an individual it'll seem like we're passionately snogging and it's going to be quite the scandal if it's in the papers tomorrow: Caleb Parker caught snogging mysterious girl at the Knightsbridge." I mused. "I haven't had a scandal like this ever. What'd you reckon, Harper?"
"You chavster I'll show you scandal! Unhand me I say then you'll be in the papers tomorrow for assaulting a girl for hashtag Metoo!" She screamed.
Thankfully, the area near the fountain was empty and secluded but still public and no individual could see us except think that we were into some sort of hanky-panky business.
"You can try, love. Who'd believe you? I have evidence, there's a camera above this buttress. You wouldn't want mummy to know that you tried to hit me, and you can say goodbye to your car as well. And imagine the look on your date's face when he sees us like this...." I trailed off laughing.
"You knob-head!" She seethed.
But she stopped struggling after a few more seconds of wiggling and went still. A triumphant smile broke onto my face. We were now closer to the wall, she leaned against it and exhaled harshly.
I rested my cheek against the side of her head and immediately my senses were filled with her strong scent which made my nose twitch. She smelled strongly of lavender.
"Hey, Harper why do you reek of lavender?"
She made a choking noise at the back of her throat. "I doused myself in lavender to ward off evil spirits but attracted a demon instead."
"Ah, I thought you were like those girls who'd spray too much perfume to impress their date," I spoke softly, but added thoughtfully, "You know that method doesn't work if the person itself is a fiend right? Only demons can attract demons."
She growled and began to move, I realised my hold wasn't strong enough, so I tightened my hold on her, laughing. For once I enjoyed this, and knew why she liked this as well. I held her until I was sure she wouldn't hit me, her chest heaved up and down and I stilled when I realised how close we were, we made brief eye contact but she promptly averted her eyes. Harper too realised how close we were.
Mère de Dieu!
I cleared my throat. "I'm letting you go now," I said and slowly slid my hands down her arms, I heard her inhale sharply and I stepped back.
She whacked me on the arm immediately.
"Fucking hell! Why'd you do that?!"
"That was for manhandling me, you posh little wanker!"
I scoffed. "Manhandling you? I was merely defending myself!"
She scowled and smoothened her dress and ran her fingers through her hair. A lock of her hair was askew and I reached out to run my fingers through it and pat it down.
"What're you doing?" She cried out.
"Stay still!"
She stood still and I ran my fingers across the length of her soft hair, straightened the strands, twirled a strand around my finger and tucked it behind her ear.
"Done!" I said.
She bit her lip, my eyes darted to her lips and then back at her. "Thanks."
"So where's that bloke? Did he abandon you?"
"None of your business nosy parker!" She twisted her lips but laughed. "Nosy parker get it?"
I stared at her blankly and she stopped laughing.
"He's answering a very important call right now. He hasn't abandoned me." She explained. "What about you Nobby no-mates?"
My lips thinned. "For the last time, I have friends! I had dinner with my parents at the Jazz Lounge."
She nodded her head and looked around. But turned her head in my direction. "Since you're here make yourself useful and take my picture, because I need someone to click a candid picture. I'll stand beside the fountain." She handed me her phone and walked away to stand in front of the fountain.
She exhaled and posed in front of the fountain. I sighed and clicked a few pictures.
She looked achingly beautiful against that backdrop she didn't even have to try. That blue dress she wore complimented her complexion and it looked like she had emerged from the fountain as a nymph basking in the moonlight. I clenched my jaw and handed her phone back to her immediately.
"They're so good. Thanks!" She examined the photos.
She started walking towards the entrance where the valet brought back the cars. I fell in step with her, as we neared the entrance the valet was already stood with my car, I felt bad for making him wait when I was busy bickering with Harper. The bloke's eyes lit up when he recognised me as I approached the vehicle he stepped forward and handed me the keys.
"Ah, there you are sir! Here's your car, Mr Parker. Have a goodnight." He smiled and handed me the keys.
"My apologies for making you wait. Thank you." I smiled at him.
I heard a gasp come from beside me and twisted my body to the right, Harper's mouth hung open as she walked forward and then with her index finger pointed back and forth at my car and at me. I chuckled, my car did that to people.
"Y-You.... you. How? This is your car?" She tried to make a coherent sentence but failed.
I was enjoying this, I've never seen her this stunned and speechless.
She turned towards me a mixture of awe, shock, surprise flitted across her face. "You drive the Spyder? How?"
I was glad that I chose to drive this car today. It was a black Hennessy Venom GT Spyder. This was my baby and I called it a sexy siren.
I smirked. "Indeed I do. You know about this car?" I was surprised that she knew about cars. No, it's not because she's a girl, it's just that people don't know much about this car.
"I don't live under a rock, Caleb. Of course, I do. I love this car and my dad owns one." She slid her hands along the car's hood with fascination. "I also know that there are only twenty-nine cars available."
Impressed at the piece of information she'd told me, I let her in on a secret, "I own two."
She immediately turned around gaping like a fish. "You do?" She shouted, and people turned around to looked at us. I shrugged nonchalantly.
"I so badly want to drive this baby right now. The temptation to abandon my date is relatively high." She shook her head. "But I will not, I will rise above this base desire," she muttered to herself.
A slow lazy grin etched on my face as I held out the keys. She glanced at it with wide eyes. "Then why don't you? I'm sure your date will understand." I dangled the keys in front of her eyes.
I don't know why, but the words abandon my date, triggered some sort of an evil plan to brew in my mind.
"Are you sure? Because the last time I drove this, I nearly crashed it and my dad banned me from entering our garage. He doesn't let me drive this, let alone any car." She warned but added, "you think he won't mind?" Her eyes looked hopeful.
I nodded my head. "Yes, I'm sure. Go on," I said flashing her a smile of false hope.
Oh, how wonderful it'd be when her hopes would be dashed when my devious plan took fruition...
She was hesitant but deliberately reached for the keys. In that moment I'd felt like the slimy slithering snake, gliding across the grass, with it's forked tongue slipping out in the Garden of Eden tempting Eve with the shiny red forbidden fruit disguised in the form of car keys.
Yes, go on! Take it! I urged her with my eyes.
"Rebecca, there you are!"
Immediately the smile slipped off my face.
Startled her hands dropped, wide-eyed she turned around. I ground on my molars when I saw him with a bright smile on his face. I knew that bloke and I didn't quite like him.
But unlike Eve from the Bible, this Eve, however, was saved by Adam from falling into my trap and not falling from grace.
And that was quite disappointing!
