35. His Moon!
Heartfelt Whispers
Anika
The next few days went by in the same way, with me feeling better and coming back from my lonely zone. I started feeling better.
Jai started doing all the cute stuff again, like:
Giving me flowers at the most random momentsDropping notes around the housePreparing all the mealsGifting me books
I acted like it was okay, but deep down, I started falling for him again. Correction â I never stopped falling for him.
I've known Jai for 8+ years, and the last few weeks might have been hurting, and I might have been mad at him, but I am incapable of hating him.
And working from home made me realize that I loved my job more than I thought. I miss going to work and meeting new people, helping with the locations, and literally everything.
Today we had an event to go to, more of a party than a function. It was already 4 pm now, and we had to leave by 6 pm.
And here we were, still in the living room, watching Netflix.
I'm starting to forgive him, not fully, but I'm trying because he's doing it as well. He put in efforts, said sorry so many times, but especially stayed with me all the time. Followed me around like a lost puppy.
He has a lot of work to do, and because he's the CEO now, he has even more. But, he stayed with me since the past few days, taking care of me like nobody has done before.
I got ready in a beautiful wine-colored Satin dress with heels, obviously, and did my makeup. I was contemplating taking a bag with me or not.
But I was really excited to finally go out. It's been long since I left the house. Thanks to Mr. Husband.
But I'm feeling good now; in short, I was feeling better for the past 2 days, but Jai didn't want to 'take any risk' when it came to my health.
Jai changed into a suit that matched the color of my dress. I know it was because he saw me wearing it.
When I gave him a look, he chuckled, "Coincidence, princess."
"Sureee," I rolled my eyes. I was giggling on the inside.
"No bag day?" he asked when we were in the living room.
"Yeah, but I have to carry my phone in my hand all the time." I exaggerated.
"Why do you think I have pockets for?" he wiggled his eyebrows.
"To keep women's items?" I smiled.
"Not any women's, my women's," he placed a kiss on my head.
I'm melting. I need help.
"Then wait, I have another item!" I sprinted into our room and brought my lip-gloss with me.
"Can you keep this with you?" I asked him.
"Sure, princess." He took my gloss and put it in one of his pockets.
Jai locked the door, and we headed to the lift. I thought back to the time when I had to attend one of the functions all by myself.
Mom and Dad said they're coming as well, and I think it won't be like last time. I'm hoping so.
We reached the place in around 20 minutes. One of Jai's partners arranged this one so we had to come to this one.
And I was bored at home anyway. Jai isn't boring by any means, but I wanted to go out, talk to people, and breathe in fresh air; air from our penthouse balcony doesn't count.
As soon as we entered inside, the first person I saw was Gauri Aunty. I met her last time, yes, the only time Jai was missing. She said stuff like "oh, I'm sure he's busy" "His job should always come first" "You should be grateful to have someone like Jai."
"Hiii Anika!" she gave a smile which looked fake to me.
"Hello, Aunty. How are you?" I waved.
"I'm good. How are you?"
"Good." I gave her one of my fake smiles.
"Look who finally made it." She said, looking at Jai.
"Yep," Jai responded.
"The last time, you couldn't make it, boy." she told Jai.
"I was stuck with work."
"I love the color." She told Jai. We were literally wearing the same color. Chudail.
"Meri biwi ki selection hai, acha toh hoga hi." Jai responded.
"She's lucky to have you, Jai beta." What a bitch. I was lucky to have him because? I agree I am lucky, but what was her reason?
"No aunty. I'm the lucky one. I hit a jackpot." Jai said, tightening his grip on my waist, his eyes locked on mine.
"True." She replied and left as soon as someone called her.
Then we talked to a couple more people. Jai needs to interact with people often and even with new people because of his reputation and connections, but I was tired.
I leaned on him little by little, him holding me tighter. It was comfortable.
"Excuse me." He said to the group we were standing in and then led me to one of the tables.
"Sit." He said and opened the chair for me.
"Thanks." I took a seat. Jai brought another chair closer and sat beside me. My hand intertwined with his.
"Did you I tell you how beautiful you look today?" I shook my head.
"You look like the moon, the one I can never stop staring at." He said with so much sincerity.
He compared me to the moon. He said I was the MOON of HIS life. He didn't but I was being my delusional self again.
"Thank you." I replied. My cheeks might have turned red.
Then we had dinner and left. Mom and Dad had bailed on us. They had another event to attend, so they made an appearance there.
It was around 12 am by the time we bid goodbyes. I liked a few of the girls. I'd like to meet them again. The only problem was the aunties.
I played my new playlist today. It was not my usual Arjit Singh or Taylor Swift one which made Jai look at me.
"What?" I gave him a small laugh.
"New playlist huh?"
"Yeah, I've been obsessed with these lately."
"I love them." He said after a few songs.
It started raining suddenly. It was already dark and now the rain. The road was clear. There was nobody except us.
Jai drove for two minutes and then stopped the car.
He got down and came towards my side of the car, not listening to my protests. When I opened my door, he opened his hand, asking for mine.
"Will you dance with me princess?"
"Now? In the rain?"
"You always wanted to right? Let's do it."
"Sure" I put my hand in his and he led me to the front of the car.
"Is this safe?" I asked
"Yes. This is a private property. Don't worry about it." he replied, bringing me closer.
At the same time 'Tum Se Hi' from Jab We Met started playing.
It was so romantic. It was just me and him. Dancing in the rain. In the middle of an empty road. Just like I always wanted.
The only light was of the headlights of Jai's car.
We danced for a few minutes, him twirling me and doing steps that don't match with the song, but who cared? He did it for me.
"That's the smile I was waiting for" he said when we were closer.
I raised to my tiptoes and gave a kiss on his cheek.
"You don't even like to dance!" I said.
"Wrong. I don't like to dance when you're not around" he replied with a wink. This man!
"Let's go. I'm so wet right now."
"Just how I like it." he said and I glared at him playfully.
"I meant I'm soaking" I cried.
"I know baby, let's go home" he laughed and opened the door for me.
"Let's go home." I repeated.
I didn't know when it happened, but our house turned into home. Or maybe it was because of him.
