Chapter 130
Strings of Fate
130- Boss and brush my In the morning, I wake up early. Probably because I fell asleep fast since I was relaxed from my bath. In my dreams, I mostly watched Kiara sleep so it was mostly peaceful, if sad. The poor thing was shivering all night. Right up until the moment that something startled her awake, annoyingly, her jumping and waking up was enough to startle ME awake. For once, Bellamy is still asleep. His sleep must have been a little restless though because heâs moved off the pillows and seems to be using my stomach as a pillow instead. His arms are wrapped around waist and heâs on a slight diagonal on the bed, his feet so close to the edge theyâre nearly hanging off. The blankets are all tangled underneath him, he isnât covered at all. Well, Iâm stuck. Also I didnât notice how heavy his head was when I was sleeping but now I feel a little crushed. Still, there is no way on this planet that I am moving before he is ready. Iâve seen the shadows under his eyes, he has been sleeping just as badly as I have, which is saying something because sleeping with Bellamy beside me is still the equivalent of a knock out drug.
Bellamy doesnât seem like heâs going to wake anytime soon, so I settle back into the pillows to wait. I wonder if I can reach my phone? I struggle towards the side table for a moment, but no such luck. My phone is just a little out of my reach. Oh well. I relax and lay back. I guess Iâll keep working on my meditating. I close my eyes and focus on Kiara. I actively relax every single one of my muscles until all I can really feel is the warmth of Bellamy lying across my stomach. I slow my breathing and bring images of Kiara to my mind. Once again, I feel close. Like I can almost reach her. But something is missing, some detail that I have wrong or something. Thatâs the problem. Since I donât know what Iâm missing, I donât know what it is I need to change, I donât even know where to start! Iâm not sure how long I spend meditating and focusing, but when Bellamy starts to stir, I open my eyes again. Iâm surprised to find that my hand has found its way into his hair and I have apparently been running fingers through it for who knows how long. Bellamyâs eyes crack open a little but they soon fall closed again and he snuggles back in. Is he purring? Thatâs it, Iâm officially convinced. Bellamy does actually purr sometimes. Itâs adorable.
âMmmh, do you think we could just stay like this all day?â Bellamy mumbles and I laugh. I can feel his head being jostled as I laugh.
âI probably could stay in bed all day, but I suspect that someone would come looking for you sooner or later. Probably sooner.â I point out. Bellamy sighs.
âOf course they would. Ugh, fine.â With a groan, Bellamy forces himself to sit up. I giggle as he complains.
130- Boss and brush âI thought I was the one who hated mornings.â I comment and Bellamy just shrugs and climbs out of bed. He pauses and stretches and I find myself staring.
âRyann?â He asks.
âHuh? What?â Did I miss something? Bellamy raises an eyebrow.
âI asked if you wanted to use the bathroom first?â he seems amused. I wave him off, âNo, you go ahead. I can wait.â He nods and goes about gathering his things together.
âSo, whatâs on the agenda for today?â I ask. Bellamy steps into the ensuite and I hear the shower start.
âI have another Alpha meeting today, at around lunchtime.â Bellamy calls out.
âAnother one? Didnât you have one not too long ago?â I question. I glance towards the ensuite, not sure that I will be able to hear him through the door and over the shower, except⦠the door is still open. Not the whole way, but just enough that we can still speak to each other properly. Still⦠is that weird? I donât know. It canât be weirder than him helping me wash my hair so I guess itâs fine, as long as he isnât worried by it I suppose I wonât stress over it either.
âThat last meeting was an additional meeting called because of their concerns over Tristainâs death and the complaints they received, this is our regularly scheduled meeting. Although it is rather insulting that they feel they have the right to interfere with any of the decisions I make. I donât interfere with their matters.â He complains.
âIt does seem rather disrespectful of them. Why do they think they can do that?âI wonder aloud.
âMostly because Iâm the youngest I suspect. They complain Iâm inexperienced and that I donât have a mate, but honestly I suspect that the Canine and Avian Alphas would complain either way. The jokes on them though. I put up with their attitude for now, but one day theyâll push it too far and find themselves being thrown out on their ass.â he says this gleefully and I snicker at the mental image.
130- Boss and brush âWhat about Alpha Kohen?â I continue.
âHmmm, he might be a bit big to throw out on his ass. I guess if I need to kick him out it might be more of a team effort. Iâll make the guys do it instead.â he declares and this time Iâm full on laughing, âNo! I mean, does he try to make demands and boss you around?â I question. Bellamy chuckles to himself.
âNot so much, heâs more laid back, and infinitely more useful to talk to. I plan to mention the murders and see if the other Alphas have any ideas, although to be honest I donât care much what the other two have to say.â He admit âThatâs a good idea. Is the meeting here like last time?â I ask. I might be able to listen in if it 1. is.
âAnnoyingly, no. Itâs at the Canine Alphaâs place. I did offer to host it again, but he refused, something about me getting too comfortable running the meetings. As if they listen to a word I say anyway.â He grumbles. Ah. I assume he wanted the meeting here so that he could keep an eye on me. He clearly isnât thrilled to be going out. The water in the shower goes silent.
âDonât worry about it too much. Iâm sure Aaron will come hang out for a bit.â I reassure him. Bellamy exits the ensuite, a towel hanging low on his hips and I have to repress a squeak. I find myself running into the ensuite to brush my teeth. I swing the door shut behind me and I think I hear Bellamy chuckling to himself. I clean my teeth then glance in the mirror and Iâm horrified at the absolute birdâs nest my hair has become. I definitely should have dried it properly before going to bed. I grab my brush and burst out of the bathroom.
âBellamy! My hair is an absolute mess! Why didnât you say anything?â I demand. Bellamy is just pulling a shirt on and he smirks at me.
âI didnât notice,â he responds. Liar. He totally noticed. Heâs just enjoying laughing at me.
âIn that case you must be BLIND!â I snap at him. He just grins, enjoying my dramatics. He guides me by the shoulders to sit on the edge of the bed then takes my brush from me and begins sorting through my hair for me. He sighs loudly.
130- Boss and brush âI wish I didnât have to go today. I would take you with me, butâ¦â he trails off and I shake my head then instantly regret it when it makes the brush tug in my hair.
âItâs fine. Aaron will come over and Iâll find a way to stay busy. Iâll spend some time with. Megan probably, maybe work on the whole meditation thing some more. It will be fine.â I promise.
