Chapter 205 - Harming others without benefitting oneself
Top-notch Master Masquerading As Cannon Fodder Female Companion
âYou can come back in the next few days once the cast gets organised into their groups.â Director Liu elaborated.
Come back? Donât even think about it!
Director Liu hated how he had limited connections within the History field.
If not, he wouldâve made Shen Jing Yiâs life so hard that she couldnât even find her place within the field of History anymore!
Meanwhile, he wouldnât use Yuan Qi Shan as a scriptwriter anymore.
It was just that he didnât decide to ruin her entire career or anything serious.
Thatâs because he also held some form of responsibility here.
Yuan Qi Shanâs script was also seen and discussed by him.
It was approved by him.
But the script by Yuan Qi Shan had misconceptions to begin with, which was why Director Liu wanted to see whether there were other more suitable scriptwriters.
But before that, he still had to consider her as an alternative.
What if he couldnât find anyone else fit for the job?
That was why he only sent Shen Jing Yi away.
Director Liu never said what would happen to Yuan Qi Shan, which was why she felt nervous and unwell.
âScriptwriter Yuan, you can go back and rest first.â Director Liu said. âIf the script requires extra handling and amending, then we might need to further discuss then.â
âDirector Liuâ¦â Yuan Qi Shan nervously held her hands together as she started to drip in a cold sweat. Her two hands were clenched together so tightly that her fingernails scraped the back of her palms. âIâ¦I really didnât think that there would be any problem with the script. I had already consulted Shen Jing Yi.â
Donât bring up teacher Shen at this moment.
âI know,â said Director Liu. âI was also involved in this script. If there was something wrong with it, I hold responsibility too. Donât overthink it. Head back first.â
âIf the script needed amending, would it still be meâ¦â Yuan Qi Shan asked hesitantly.
It was originally already said that this script was hers to handle.
She had also received multiple invitations from other scriptwriting teams just because she was in charge of this one.
But now that she was part of the team, it seemed like they were going to switch out the scriptwriter.
She should give it a listen as to why this was the case.
If not, her days in the future would not end up well.
âWe can talk about this later on.â Director Liu did not answer her directly. âDonât worry, even if we have to rewrite the script, I wonât be telling this to the public or any of the media. It wonât affect your future career.â
Even though this wasnât the answer Yuan Qi Shan was hoping for, it was still better than what she had expected.
She knew that even if she wanted to grab her chance, sheâd have to do it later on.
With director Liuâs temper today, thereâs no way she could push her luck â she could only leave first and wait for another chance.
Yuan Qi Shan left the resting room. From not seeing Tan Mo and Tan Jin Qi to not being able to stand them anymore.
Those two really had to butt their noses into things that werenât any of their businesses â that was just harming others without benefitting themselves!
Director Liu was part of the team that initially put the script together.
Even he didnât say anything about it.
Once the show aired, it at least wouldnât be her burden to carry if the criticism was bad.
It might not even receive a bad response.
These two just had to say something at this moment.
The rewriting of the script led to anger as shown by Director Liu and Shen Jing Yiâs resignation.
Yes, she could see just exactly what was happening.
What did he even mean that sheâd be able to come back in a few days?
Truthfully speaking, he just wanted to get rid of her.
Director Liuâs reaction was clearly stated â he had no further use of Shen Jing Yi anymore.
if not, she would have been able to stay â there were areas where she really couldâve helped.
But now, Director Liuâs moved her away.
Even though nothing firm had been set in stone for her, she still thought that the chances of her staying and helping were slim.
But these consequences did not bring about any benefits for Tan Jin Qi or Tan Mo at all.
Tan Mo wasnât part of the scriptwriting team. She was just a student from Beijing University. There were no links between the two.
As assistant director, did Tan Jin Qi really think that he could rely on this one thing to raise his reputation in front of director Liu?
In reality, he had added troubles for Director Liu.
Even if Director Liu took the suggestions and wanted to rewrite the script, itâs not like he would thank Tan Jin Qi.
He might even think that Tan Jin Qi was being nosy about the entire thing.
One less thing is better than one more.
Even if these words couldnât be uttered out fully, it wouldnât have anything to do with Tan Jin Qi no matter the reception of the show.
What was he doing with Tan Mo?
Yuan Qi Shanâs heart was full of resentment right now.
Even though she didnât have a chance right now, she would have one at some point.
Tan Jin Qi and Tan Mo better not leave anything bad for her.
If so, thereâs no way sheâd let them get on with their lives that easily.
She was most definitely going to grab any opportunities she got to target those two!
These two did not show her any kindness.
Donât think that sheâd let them get away with that!
Right then, the only people left in the resting room was Director Liu, Tan Jin Qi and Tan Mo.
âLetâs wait a while for professor Tangâs feedback,â said Director Liu as he found his assistant.
Even if they didnât have to rewrite the entire script, there were definitely amendments that needed to be made.
âYou go contact the scriptwriting team first and see if you can find a suitable scriptwriter.â Director Liu said. âFind a few extra ones, and if they can discuss together and write the script together, it might be quicker.â
*
Director Liu received a phone call from Professor Tang a little after three in the afternoon.
âDirector Liu.â Professor Tang said.
âYouâre too polite, just call me Liu.â Director Liu said hurriedly.
Professor Tang didnât hold back and changed his use of words immediately. âLiu.â
âGo on.â Director Liu followed on.
âIâve already got my tickets â Iâll be heading over to yours today,â said Professor Tang.
âToday?â Director Liu was pleasantly surprised. âWhat timeâs your flight? Iâll go over to pick you up.â
âIâm already at section B of the airport.â Professor Tang eyed his ticket. âThe planeâs at ten to four. Iâll be landing at around six.â
âAlright. Iâll come pick you up.â Director Liu scrambled for his words. âProfessor Tang, is there a huge problem with the script if youâre coming over today?â
âThereâs a huge problem.â Professor Tang replied gravely. âTan Mo was right, what she said is exactly what I want to say, which is why I wonât go into detail.â
âSoâ¦do you think there is a chance that we could amend it?â asked Director Liu. âAs you know, itâs usually better to amend it than rewrite it since itâd take less time.â
âThereâs not much to keep in this script. Even if we were to make amends, weâd have to change quite a bit of it. It would be pretty much rewriting it anyway.â Professor Tang found a spot near the boarding gate and sat down.
Even though Professor Tangâs reputation was well known, he still only purchased Economy class tickets.
But of course, he would be arranged first-class tickets and the best of the best kinds of treatment if he were invited to different well-known events and talks.
âOf course, in regards to the script, youâre more professional than me in the field. You can make the final judgement,â said Professor Tang.
âIf we were to amend huge parts of it, it really would be similar to rewriting the entire script.â Director Liu said helplessly.
âActually, if you wanted to shoot an original historical drama, then you could follow along the lines of the Wei and Jin dynasties while consulting the archives of the dialogues from that era. Itâd be good enough if you added a little bit of spice with the props and art surrounding it.â Professor Tang said bluntly.
After all, he had been an advisor to Hou Yue Hai.
