Chapter 287 - Ill Wait for You

After her long chat with Wei Keli, Yuan Keqing finally turned to Qin Murong, acting as if she had just noticed who was standing next to him. “If I’m not mistaken, you must be Ms. Murong from the Qin family, right?”

Qin Murong glared at Yuan Keqing and could tell immediately what kind of person this high school student was.

Hah! Only an idiot like Wei Keli would believe anything that came out of her mouth.

From that moment on, Qin Murong realized that she shouldn’t place too much hope on the man standing next to her. If their relationship ever really deepened, it might cause her more trouble than bring her benefits in the future.

With that thought, Qin Murong’s expression changed to a gentle, slightly arrogant smile.

She looked as if her arrogant smile had been something that she was born with as a member of the superior Qin family. It made Yuan Keqing feel as if she was nothing compared to Qin Murong.

“And you are?” Despite overhearing the whole conversation between Wen Keli and Yuan Keqing a moment ago, she still pretended not to know who the high school student was.

Yuan Keqing smiled as if she wasn’t bothered by it at all. “Ah! It’s normal for Ms. Qin to forget who I am. I think the first time we met was when I was six. I believe it was at Mrs. Wei’s birthday party? I even remember that you and Qin Muxiao got into a fight with my cousin.”

Qin Murong’s expression changed immediately. That was one of the darkest days of her life, one that she never wanted to recall.

Now that Yuan Keqing had mentioned it, Qin Murong realized that whenever Tan Mo was present, the day would become one that she would want to forget.

However, that time during Mrs. Wei’s birthday party had been the worst defeat she’d ever felt. Not only had she been embarrassed in front of a lot of prestigious families that day, she’d even gotten rejected by Wei Zhiqian publicly.

That was something she would never forget in her whole lifetime, even if she wanted to.

“Now that I think about it, you were about 15 years old when I was six, right? And I’m already 17 years old now. Time sure flies by, huh?” Yuan Keqing mocked her. What she was trying to point out was that since she was now 17 years old, Qin Murong must be more than 25 years old now.

Yuan Keqing was basically laughing at Qin Murong for being older than she was trying to appear, and the latter knew that.

The young lady from the Qin family quickly turned to glare at the high school student, and suddenly she understood why she had done that.

What an idiot! Qin Murong couldn’t help but laugh to herself as she turned to Wei Keli, “Keli, is this young lady your girlfriend?”

Wei Keli was caught off guard by the question since he had no idea why Qin Murong was curious about it.

He tried to explain, but Qin Murong wasn’t going to give him the chance to do so and continued, “I think your girlfriend here is misunderstanding our relationship. I think it’s better if you explain it to her or else she might get jealous. I don’t want to ruin your relationship.”

Qin Murong smirked to herself as she said that. Little girl, did you forget the fact that you’re still nine years younger than I am? I have way more experience in doing this kind of thing than you do.

“Well, I’ll take my leave now. Have fun.” Qin Murong smiled generously and left.

Wei Keli could only look at Qin Murong leave in surprise. Before he could even begin to stop her, Yuan Keqing quickly grabbed him by his arm. “Brother Keli, did I do something wrong? Why does Ms. Qin think we’re a couple? Did I make her angry or something?”

Inside the high schooler’s head, she scoffed at Qin Murong for looking down on her. Do you really think that you have won just by saying something that any bitch would usually say?

Since Yuan Keqing was grabbing him by the arm, Wei Keli couldn’t chase after Qin Murong.

It wasn’t that he was interested in dating Qin Murong, but it had taken him a lot of effort to get close to her, and he didn’t want to lose a friend like that.

However, seeing Yuan Keqing’s worried expression stopped him from leaving the high school girl as well.

After hearing how confused Yuan Keqing was, Wei Keli also realized that there hadn’t been anything wrong with what she had said. It only made him even more curious as to why Qin Murong had said that.

“Don’t worry. This must be just a small misunderstanding,” Wei Keli comforted her.

“I’m not worried about Ms. Qin,” Yuan Keqing shook her head. “I’m worried that Mo Mo might misunderstand since you and she are childhood friends. I don’t want her to think that I’m trying to steal you away from her… If that ever happened, then I don’t know how I would explain it to her since she never liked me from the beginning…”

“Don’t worry. I won’t tell Tan Mo anything about it.” Wei Keli comforted her some more. Little did he realize, the way he addressed Tan Mo had already changed.

Even though he would still address her as Mo Mo when they were together, when they weren’t, he would simply address her by her full name.

Yuan Keqing lowered her head and bit her lip. “B…brother Keli, don’t misunderstand me as well… I’m not the kind of girl who goes around playing with men…”

She then paused and raised her head to look at Wei Keli with her teary eyes. Her body shivered a little before averting her gaze from him.

“I’m also not the kind of girl who would rob another person of their boyfriend,” she said in a low voice. After making sure that Wei Keli wasn’t going to chase after Qin Murong, she finally let go of him.

However, she hadn’t denied the fact that she liked him.

Wei Keli was stunned for a second, and then he started to grin.

He wasn’t even remotely close to being angry at the fact that Yuan Keqing had feelings for him.

There was no reason for him to be angry as it was proof that he was attractive.

It wasn’t Yuan Keqing’s fault for not being able to control her feelings, as he was just too amazing.

“I understand,” Wei Keli said in a gentle voice.

It was then that Yuan Keqing’s classmate shouted her name.

It was time for them to leave.

“Then I’ll be going,” Yuan Keqing said.

Wei Keli nodded. “The high school leaving exams are approaching, right?”

Yuan Keqing nodded in response.

“Make sure you do well, okay?” Wei Keli smiled proudly. “I’ll be waiting for you here. Now that I think about it, we have never gone to the same school before, right?”

That was the best encouragement that Yuan Keqing could ever get. She nodded happily and grinned. “Okay! Wait for me!”

Yuan Keqing then turned and ran back toward her classmates.

When she returned to the bus, one of her friends asked, “Keqing, who was that?”

“You mean that guy? He’s Keli from the Wei family.”

“The Wei family? The same Wei family as Wei Zhiqian?”

“Yes. Brother Keli is Wei Zhiqian’s nephew,” Yuan Keqing explained.

The moment Yuan Keqing said that everyone’s respect toward her rose immediately.

Even those that used to mock her quickly changed their attitudes. “Are you very close with Wei Keli?”

“We’ve known each other since we were little,” Yuan Keqing said, unable to hide her grin. “I used to play at his house a lot.”

“Really?” Some of the students didn’t believe her.

“Do you think I have the guts to lie about something that concerns the Wei family?” Yuan Keqing asked.

Everyone nodded. They were convinced as they also had witnessed Yuan Keqing grabbing Wei Keli by his arm.
