Chapter 525 - Video as Proof

Still, he wanted to check with Tan Mo just to be sure.

“I really don’t remember.” Tan Mo was afraid that Wei Zhiqian would not believe her. Feeling frantic, she tugged at Wei Zhiqian’s open shirt without thinking. “I’m not an irresponsible woman!”

Wei Zhiqian thought in his head, ‘So, that’s what she was worried about.’

Covering the smirk on the corner of his lips, he sighed in pretense before saying, “As soon as I walked in, you ran over and hugged me. Then, before I had time to react, you started crying.”

Tan Mo’s lips twitched. Instinctively, she reached up and touched her eyelid.

No wonder her eyelids felt swollen like she couldn’t open them.

She had felt like crying last night.

The sight of Wei Zhiqian along with the alcohol must have made her lose all self-control.

Holding him while crying seemed like something she would do.

“I had no choice but to take you back into the living room, only to find that you had been drinking.” Wei Zhiqian sighed helplessly. “You wouldn’t let go of me and made me promise you that I would never find a girlfriend, never like anybody else, or marry other women. Even an arranged marriage without affections was not acceptable either.”

Tan Mo was speechless.

The feeling of unease washed all over her.

Those words were certainly what she had thought in her head.

But she couldn’t believe that she had actually said them aloud.

How could she have said those words?

Anyone who heard them would have thought she was incredibly selfish.

He was at the age to be wed. He couldn’t simply not marry just because of her.

“So, I said yes.” Wei Zhiqian’s voice resonated from the top of Tan Mo’s head.

Tan Mo paused and looked up in surprise.

“What are you saying?” Tan Mo looked shocked.

“I said, I gave you my word,” Wei Zhiqian whispered, “My dear Momo was crying so sadly, how could I not?”

“But then if I don’t get married, I would be all alone for the rest of my life. That would be so miserable.” Wei Zhiqian glanced at her. “Then, you said that you would stay unmarried for the rest of your life, so you could be with me.”

Tan Mo’s mouth hung slightly ajar. She was shocked beyond words.

What in the world happened last night?

She could not recall a single thing.

Just by listening to Wei Zhiqian’s words, she could hardly picture what a chaotic scene last night must have been.

“You don’t believe me?” Wei Zhiqian seemed even more aggrieved that Momo didn’t believe him.

Tan Mo quickly denied and explained, “It’s not that…”

Of course, she believed him.

What Wei Zhiqian had said was what she had been thinking all along.

If Wei Zhiqian had the ability to read minds, he would have known how she felt about him a long time ago.

She was just embarrassed. Why did she have to make such a mess of everything?

She must have made him feel cumbersome with the words she had said.

Seeing the way she cried bitterly in his arms and forced him to promise her last night…

It must have been repulsive.

Without her realizing, Wei Zhiqian had taken out his phone. He opened a video and showed it to Tan Mo.

“I was afraid you wouldn’t believe me, so I recorded it. I was going to show it to you today,” Wei Zhiqian explained. “But don’t worry, I won’t show it to anyone else.”

Tan Mo was still tightly locked in his arms. Like a little hostage, she had nowhere to run.

All she could do was watch the video on Wei Zhiqian’s phone obediently.

“I didn’t record the earlier bit because I hadn’t thought about it. Then, it suddenly occurred to me that you might not believe the things you said. So, I decided to record you. But this was all I got.” Tan Mo understood what Wei Zhiqian was implying. The earlier half must have been even more excruciating.

Just by watching herself in the recording, Tan Mo felt that she had completely crossed the line.

She was hysterically forcing Wei Zhiqian to agree to her unreasonable demands.

Tan Mo was cursing herself in her head, but she was stunned when she saw the footage in the video shortly afterward.

She felt her entire world collapse. In the next moment, she saw Wei Zhiqian kissing her eyes in the video.

From the video, it looked like he was kissing away the tears from her eyes.

She stared blankly back at Wei Zhiqian, looking completely shocked.

But she didn’t push him away.

Although Tan Mo couldn’t remember what happened last night…

If Wei Zhiqian were to do the same thing right now, she would be in shock too.

However, she hadn’t pushed him away. It was not because she was too startled by him.

It was because she was madly in love with him. If he had wanted to kiss her, there was no reason for her to object to that.

Rather, she would be bursting with joy.

Thinking about it now, even if she hadn’t been so startled by him last night, she still wouldn’t have pushed him away.

Then, she saw Wei Zhiqian’s lips kiss her on her cheek.

He sprinkled kisses following the trail of her tears to the corner of her lips, and then he suddenly stopped.

Wei Zhiqian’s phone was positioned right beside them last night.

So, the video had captured the side of their faces.

Tan Mo could clearly see the expressions on both their faces, as well as their movements and the distance between them.

It was visually impossible to mistake what they were doing from the angle he was filming.

Watching the scene before her eyes, Tan Mo stopped breathing.

‘Go on!’

‘Why did he suddenly stop?’

‘Kiss her!’

Tan Mo unconsciously bit her lower lip.

She was a little upset that she had been drunk last night. She couldn’t even recall the sensation of his tender kisses.

If he really did kiss her on the lips, she would feel even more regretful for the fact she could not remember the way his lips felt on hers.

Regardless, she was feeling regretful enough as it was.

Tan Mo stared at the screen nervously, uncertain if she was actually hoping for Wei Zhiqian to kiss her on her lips or to stop.

‘Come on, kiss her for god’s sakes!’ That would at least prove that they had kissed, which would make her very happy.

It was too bad she remembered none of it. She had wanted to remember their first kiss.

After a while, Wei Zhiqian pulled away. In the end, he hadn’t kissed her.

Instead, he picked her up and walked in the direction of the bedroom.

She couldn’t see what happened after because Wei Zhiqian had put the phone back in his pocket, and the screen went completely dark.

“You saw everything,” Wei Zhiqian said in his coarse voice.

“What?” Tan Mo was still in a daze, barely listening to the words coming out from Wei Zhiqian’s mouth.

“What happened after…” With one swift turn, Wei Zhiqian pressed Tan Mo’s body against his.

Then, it clicked in her head.

She nodded nervously. Her petite face was blushing red.

She felt her entire body burning from her ears to her toes.

It was as if she was radiating heat from the core of her body to her skin.

Tan Mo gulped nervously, the hot air from their breaths overlapping one another.

Tan Mo was unconsciously clenching her stomach. It felt as if she barely had control over her body.

As she breathed, her chest heaved noticeably.

“Last night, I asked you,” Wei Zhiqian said. “I can do without liking other women or marrying another woman.”

“But how do you intend to make up for my sacrifice?” Wei Zhiqian whispered. “Since you were completely wasted last night, you probably don’t remember any of it, do you?”

Tan Mo had really forgotten everything. “I… I don’t remember anything at all, but didn’t you record all of it? I did promise that I would never get married and that I would stay by your side for the rest of my life. Since you have the video as proof, I’ll keep my word.”
