Wei Zhijian could not refute that.
Zhou Jingan pointed at the couch next to them and said, âPlease, have a seat over there as the president finishes his meeting.â
Wei Zhijian and Wei Keli had no choice but to sit down on the couch and wait.
Zhou Jingan treated them respectfully. He ordered the staff to serve them coffee, tea, and fruits and nuts, which were beautifully plated.
There was no way the father and son had the appetite to eat all of it. All they could do was sit impatiently as they continued to wait.
They did not expect to have to wait for more than half an hour.
The door to Wei Zhiqianâs office finally opened. Manager Wang came out of it while wiping the sweat off of his forehead.
The manager had no idea why his president had suddenly summoned him.
More than half an hour ago, Manager Wang had received a call from Zhou Jingan telling him that there was something that the president needed to discuss with him.
The manager was completely terrified as he was merely the manager of a small department. According to the hierarchy, there were still a few positions above him before he could even talk to the president directly.
For the president to suddenly summon him and want to talk to him personally, he thought that he had done something wrong.
The first thing Manager Wang thought of was when he suggested everyone stop the elevator to see who the lady was with Wei Zhiqian.
He knew that his president had seen through his plan from the beginning.
Manager Wang started to tremble, wondering if Wei Zhiqian wanted to talk about that.
However, when he got to Wei Zhiqianâs office, all the president did was ask him to sit on the couch while the staff served him coffee and snacks.
Manager Wangâs heart kept racing the whole time.
After a while, he finally managed to gather the courage to ask Wei Zhiqian the reason he was summoned.
âNothing. Just calm down and wait here for half an hour or so,â Wei Zhiqian said without any expression on his face.
âSir, did I do anything wrong recently? if I did, you could just tell me...â Manager Wang was already on the verge of begging Wei Zhiqian to let him know why he was summoned.
Wei Zhiqian took a glance at the manager and asked, âWhat? Is there some mistake you made that I donât know of?â
âN-no! Of course not!â The manager instantly shook his head.
As long as Wei Zhiqian did not bring what happened in the elevator up, Manager Wang would never speak of it.
âRelax. You didnât do anything wrong. Just sit there quietly. I didnât ask you here to trouble you. Your department has been doing great recently, and I can see that youâve worked hard,â Wei Zhiqian said and pointed at the couch. âSit and enjoy your tea break while I work.â
Manager Wang had no choice but to comply.
He sat down on the couch, took a sip of the coffee, and started to carefully munch on the cookies.
The way he ate was by taking small bites after small bites. He was eating like a lady that his daughter was.
Manager Wang was afraid that if he ate too loud, he would interrupt Wei Zhiqianâs work.
After that, Wei Zhiqian went back to his work.
Not long after Manager Wang arrived at the presidentâs office, Wei Zhijian and Wei Keli arrived and were told by Zhou Jingan that Wei Zhiqian was in a meeting.
Manager Wang, who was supposed to be having a meeting with Wei Zhiqian, started to calm down. He started to watch Wei Zhiqianâs work as he enjoyed the little snack that was prepared for him.
He felt as if he was a supervisor and was supervising Wei Zhiqianâs work.
The feeling was on another level.
The more the manager eased up, the better he felt.
Half an hour later, Wei Zhiqian suddenly said, âAlright. Timeâs up. You can go back to your office now.â
Manager Wang slumped as he was still enjoying his break.
However, he was also relieved that he got to leave.
When he was leaving, he couldnât help but wonder why Wei Zhiqian had summoned him up. He was curious if his task was just to eat and rest.
If that was the case, the manager wondered why the president had asked him instead of other people.
The reason Wei Zhiqian had requested Manager Wang was because of what happened in the elevator. He realized that the manager was a person with a flexible mindset. That was why he thought of the manager right away.
Manager Wang left Wei Zhiqianâs office while wiping the sweat off his forehead. He greeted Zhou Jingan before noticing Wei Zhijian and Wei Keli, who were standing up from the couch.
âMr. Wei,â the manager politely greeted.
From Wei Zhijianâs perspective, the managerâs attitude toward him was cold.
Not only that, as the managerâs superior, he did not sense any respect from the manager.
If Manager Wang could read Wei Zhijianâs mind, he wouldâve scoffed right away.
The only person that the manager would ever show respect to was Wei Zhiqian.
He believed that as long as he sided with his president, he would be able to succeed in life. There was no need for him to show his respect to other people.
âThe president is waiting for you now,â Zhou Jingan said as he led the father and son into Wei Zhiqianâs office. âSir. Mr. Wei Zhijian and Mr. Wei Keli are here to see you.â
Wei Zhijianâs expression darkened immediately.
It was clear that all the employees at Weifeng Company had no respect for him. Zhou Jingan even dared to address him by his full name.
After Wei Zhijian and Wei Keli entered the office, Zhou Jingan closed the door behind them.
When they first arrived at the building, they were still filled with rage. They were even prepared to argue with Wei Zhiqian about the decision.
However, after asking them to wait for half an hour, the anger inside of them was mostly gone.
âBrother, I see that Keli is with you.â Wei Zhiqian smiled and decided to get straight to the point. âYouâre here because of him, right?â
âKeli got a call from Weifeng Companyâs human resources manager not long ago,â Wei Zhijian said. To be frank, Wei Zhijian thought that Weifeng Company was already showing his son quite the respect for having the manager of the human resources department personally contact him. âThey said that you decided to send Keli to Nacheng. Heâs still a university student, and he hasnât even started working here yet. Isnât it wrong to send him there? Even if heâs an employee here, donât you need his approval before you can do this? How can you send him there without even giving him the chance to reject?â
âReally? Keliâs a senior now. Technically, he should be interning at Weifeng Company now,â Wei Zhiqian said as he took a glance at Wei Keli. âPerhaps he doesnât have any plans to work here and wants to work with another company instead.â
Wei Keli had the urge to say that he had plans to work with another company.
At the very least, he wouldnât have to go to Nacheng.
If he did that, then he would forfeit all the resources that the Wei family could provide him.
The thought of that made him swallow his words back.
âOf course, heâs joining Weifeng Company.â Wei Zhijian sighed, reacting faster than his son.
âWell, if heâs planning to work here, then itâs better he starts his training earlier, right?â Wei Zhiqian asked. âI also did my internship here when I was a graduate student so that I could familiarize myself with the working environment. Since Keli isnât planning to further his studies, then he should start working here as an intern before he graduates. Do you want him to waste his time learning all the processes after he graduates? Heâs not that young anymore, so he shouldnât waste his time.â
âWhat does this have to do with me going to Nacheng?â Wei Keli questioned impatiently. âI can do all of that here! Werenât you the same as well?â
Wei Keli recalled that Wei Zhiqian did not get sent to other cities when he was interning at Weifeng Company.
