Chapter 406 Nathaniel Is Right
A Crazy Night Novel
Nathanielâs eyes darkened as he took in the serious expression on Christinaâs face Silence ensured, drowning out all sound.
Sebastian broke into a cold sweat as he piped up. âMrs. Hadley, youâve misunderstood. The piece of land that Mr Hadley is interested in has been taken away by Taggart Group Madison is using it to seek cooperation with Hadley Corporation. The negotiation is still up in the air Mr. Hadley hasnât decided anything yet.â
Christina frowned slightly. âSo you met up with Madison last night for this?â
They met up for work matters?
Before Nathaniel could say anything, Sebastian hurriedly said, âWe didnât call her over last night. She came with the rest of the real estate agents. Mr. Hadley didnât meet her one-on-one.â
Sebastian was like a cat on a hot thin roof.
Mr. Hadley is so slow-spoken. He is only going to make Mrs. Hadley misunderstand. If they break into a fight, Iâm the one who ends up suffering.
Itâs as he said,â Nathaniel said.
He didnât know that Madison would show up too.
Christina fell into silence again. What should I do? Looks like Iâve misunderstood him.
With her eyes glistening, she secretly took a look at the cold and handsome face in front of her. âHow am I supposed to know?
You didnât even make yourself clear...â
Why is he acting mysterious? This is clearly his fault.
Nathaniel raised his brows slightly. âI wasnât even given a chance to explain.â
She started blaming me as soon as she entered.
Judging from his past experiences, Sebastian had a hunch that something was going to happen between them. âMr. Hadley, I have a few more documents to deal with, so Iâll get going first.â
He left and closed the door right after he finished speaking.
The air was still again.
Christina flashed an embarrassed smile. âThe misunderstanding has been cleared up. Everything is fine now.â
Her innocent eyes seemed to have the power to melt anything, including Nathanielâs heart.
âHow did you know I met Madison yesterday?â Nathanielâs voice was calm. His anger had dissipated.
Christina pouted. âYerek came to see me last night. He even showed me a photo of the two of you.â
She felt uncomfortable thinking about the photo.
Nathaniel narrowed his eyes The air around him turned cold. âWhy didnât you ask me about it?â
Christina could sense that he was angry from his questioning tone.
She flinched, not sure what she had done to tick him off âPerhaps you didnât want me to know, which was why you didnât say anything. That, or because it wasnât important.â
âIt indeed wasnât important. But as my wife, shouldnât you ask for an explanation when you see such a photo?â Nathaniel grew all the more livid as he spoke, He had thought their relationship had gotten better. However, it seemed to be the same for Christina. She didnât care about him at all. She couldnât be bothered to know who he was with or why he was late for the date. When he thought of this, he felt as if a heavy rock had landed on his heart.
Heâs blaming me now? At once, Christinaâs temper sparked. âWhat do you want me to do, then? You said you were having a meeting. If I asked anything more, you would only find me annoying.â
It was still the same. They would still get into an argument at the drop of a hat.
Even if there werenât external factors, they would still get into a fight.
Tension started to grow in the atmosphere as they engaged in a round of staredown.
Christina could sense the hostility in the air.
âIâve still got other things to do. Goodbye.â
With that, she turned around and left.
Christina walked out of Hadley Corporation, feeling down. It happened that Bailey was looking for her, so she went over.
Bailey usually stayed in the luxury condominium by herself.
They could talk nonstop as soon as they met. Bailey pulled Christina inside and asked, âDid you have a fight with Mr. Hadley?â
âHow did you know?â Christina asked curiously.
âItâs written everywhere on your face.â Bailey chuckled.
âI think there are still too many problems between us. I canât get along with him any longer,â Christina said, not intending to keep it from her.
That was what she felt the most at that moment.
If it werenât for the two children, she wouldâve left Nathaniel a long time ago.
Bailey sighed softly. Deep down, she knew Christina wouldnât part ways with Nathaniel. However, she didnât reveal her thoughts to Christina.
âTell me what happened. Did he bully you? Iâll go and teach him a lesson!â Bailey said angrily, looking as if she was going to deal with Nathaniel the next second.
Christina gave her a brief account of what had happened earlier, thinking Bailey would side with her.
However, taking in a deep breath, Bailey slapped the table and said, âNathaniel is right. Why didnât you question him when you saw a photo like that?â
Christina was stunned. âHuh? What was I supposed to do?â
Christina didnât find her way of handling the situation wrong.
Staring at the serious expression on Christinaâs face, Bailey said, âYou shouldâve kept the photo and sent a hard slap across his face the moment you saw him, then ask him about the photo. If his explanation doesnât make sense, only then you should get angry.â
Christina was startled. âSeriously? But itâs not good to use violence.â
âItâs natural for you to get angry when you see a photo like that. If you donât, it simply means that you donât care about him,â
Bailey said matter-of-factly.
Christina was indeed angry back then. However, rationality took her over in the end.
She didnât like to solve problems in the way Bailey had said earlier, but she admitted that it was her fault for not asking Nathaniel about the matter.
Bailey gently patted her shoulder and said. âGive me a second. Iâll make you something delicious to eat. Letâs have a drink tonight and forget about all the unhappy stuff.â
As she spoke, she got up and entered the kitchen.
Soon, a spread of delectable dishes was laid out on the coffee table.
Bailey handed Christina a glass of red wine. âHere, cheers to our friendship.â
Christina accepted it and took a sip.
The rich taste of grapes in the wine slowly diffused across her taste buds, making her tipsy.
After they had three rounds of drinking, the sky had turned dark. Bright and twinkling stars were scattered everywhere in the sky.
When Christina came out of the bathroom, the doorbell rang.
âWho is it at this hour?â
Christina opened the door, only to be greeted by the cold face of a man. Her startled expression was clearly reflected in his eyes.
âNathaniel, how did you find your way here?â
