Chapter 594 First Official Day
A Crazy Night Novel
Sebastian instinctively clutched the stack of love guides tightly to his chest and lied through his teeth, âMrs. Hadley, these company documents are highly classified and confidential. Iâm afraid I cannot grant you access to them.â
Christinaâs playful demeanor vanished in an instant as she stopped teasing him right away. âI apologize for my impertinence. Iâll let you get back to your work. Goodbye.â
âGoodbye, Mrs. Hadley.â With that, Sebastian swiftly exited the villa. He opened the car trunk and hastily stuffed the books into a cardboard box.
Having done all that, he heaved a sigh of relief. He had never experienced such guilt before.
It wasnât that he feared embarrassment; he was concerned that Bailey might stumble upon those love guides and misconstrue their purpose.
When Sebastian was lost in his thoughts, Victoria suddenly appeared behind him and said, âWhat are you hiding in the trunk?
Are you hiding something from me?â
Sebastian hurriedly closed the trunk with a resounding thud. âNo, itâs just some documents.â
Skeptical about his response, Victoria raised an eyebrow and tried to pry the trunk open to see for herself. However, the man firmly held the car trunk, overpowering her efforts. Eventually, she conceded.
âIâm heading back to the office for work. Let me send you home first.â
Victoria grabbed Sebastianâs arm and lamented, âToday marks your first official day as my boyfriend. Why are you working instead of going on a date with me? I donât care; you must spend the day with me!â
Sebastian had a knack for resolving challenging work-related issues speedily, but he was at a loss when it came to navigating the intricacies of romantic matters. Prior to meeting Victoria, his personal life consisted solely of work and sleep.
Within Hadley Corporation, Nathaniel was unanimously recognized as the reigning workaholic, with Sebastian securing the second spot.
Sebastian found himself caught in a dilemma. âMs. Lesley, I really am too busy to spend time with you. today.â
Victoria glared at him, refusing to let the matter rest. âYouâre my boyfriend, Sebastian. Why do you continue to address me with such formality? Are you sure you like me?â
Her eyes welled up with tears as she spoke.
Caught off guard, Sebastian panicked and fumbled for words. âIâm sorry. Iâve just gotten too used to calling you that. Please donât cry.â
âIf you want to make me happy, call me âsweetieâ or âdarlingâ from now on.â Victoria insisted, striking the iron while it was still hot.
Sebastianâs ears flushed with embarrassment, and he shifted his gaze away from her. âIt doesnât seem appropriate.â
âWhatâs wrong with that? Or are you hinting at taking things further? If youâre willing. I donât mind you calling me your wife.
Victoria teased.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Sebastian made a firm decision to ward off any further suggestive remarks from her.
âHenceforth, I shall address you as Victoria. Letâs agree on that.â
Knowing she shouldnât put too much pressure on him, Victoria smiled gleefully and said, âAll right, Darling. You can call me whatever you like.â
Sebastian carefully pried her off of him and opened the passenger door. âIâll take you home.â
Victoriaâs joy lasted less than three seconds. She rolled her eyes in annoyance and reluctantly got into the car.
Just as Sebastian leaned down to fasten her seatbelt, she grabbed his tie and planted a firm kiss on his lips.
The manâs face quickly turned crimson, and he swiftly closed the car door to take a deep breath.
Victoria found immense satisfaction in Sebastianâs response; she unabashedly gazed at him with admiration. It appeared that her target had fallen right into her trap, with no means of escape.
Sebastian pretended as if nothing had happened and drove away from Scenic Garden Manor.
Meanwhile, Christina observed their every move from the second floor.
A faint smile played on her lips as she contemplated how Sebastian and Victoria were indeed a perfect match.
Just then, a pair of strong arms enveloped her waist from behind, and a warm breath brushed against her ear. âWhy are you so happy?â
âIâm happy for Victoria. She has had a crush on Mr. Taggart for so long, and now they are finally a couple.â
âSebastian isnât good at expressing his thoughts. It may be challenging for him to deal with the Lesley family in the future.â
âThe Lesley family has always wanted Victoria to find a fiancé from a similar background. What should Sebastian do?â Christina asked worriedly.
A sly smile crossed Nathanielâs face as he replied, âCompared to the family background, the Lesley familyâs head values individual abilities. Sebastian has been my personal assistant for many years, and Iâm considering letting him manage a subsidiary company on his own. He is more than capable of taking charge.â
Feeling at ease to hear him say that, Christina shifted the conversation to a more important matter. âNathaniel, how is Nigel?â
A frown marred Nathanielâs countenance, and a cold gleam glinted in his eyes. He was clearly reluctant to discuss the topic. âHis actions would undoubtedly warrant several years of imprisonment. However, the Gibson family wonât allow that to happen.
Moreover, I require Nigel for my upcoming plans; his absence would greatly diminish our chances of success.â
As soon as the Gibson family was mentioned, Christinaâs mood took a sharp dive. They had always been. self-centered and manipulative.
âNathaniel, Iâm not good at playing mind games. Iâll need to count on you from now on,â she said. apologetically, âI donât wish for you to get involved. Letâs discuss this later. My parents just called to invite us to dinner at the Hadley residence tonight.â
It had been a while since Christina saw Lucas and Camila, and she missed them. âIâll buy some desserts for Camila and Lucas before heading there tonight.â
âIâll go with you. I have a meeting at the office this afternoon, so you can rest at home. Iâll pick you up after work,â he said warmly.
âOkay,â Christina replied with a smile as she hugged Nathanielâs arm. âCan you stay with me while I sleep? I find it difficult to sleep without you by my side.â
âLetâs go. I can keep you company for an hour,â Nathaniel replied before leading Christina to the bedroom.
He only left quietly after she drifted into a deep slumber.
However, Christinaâs sleep was far from peaceful. She was abruptly disturbed by the persistent ringing of her phone. All of the missed calls were from Timothy and Azure.
Suppressing her annoyance, Christina reluctantly got out of bed. Initially, she had no intention of paying them any heed, but their persistence made it clear that they were not giving up till she responded.
âWhat do you want?â Christina hissed.
Azure replied coldly. âChristina, itâs been a while since we last spoke. I miss you and the children.â
Christina found Azureâs words hilarious. Hence, she snorted and demanded, âGet straight to the point. Iâm not feeling well, so I need to rest.â
