WHY AM I ALWAYS RUNNING FOR MY DEAR LIFE?

Kiara's POV

"He didn't pick up the call, did he?"

I stopped breathing as I saw the vile smirk on Meera's face.

No. She was lying.

Rohan would never do that.

Arjun took a threatening step towards her, his body rigid as his hands clenched into fists at his sides.

"Say another word about Rohan, I dare you." He gritted his teeth, the vein on his forehead popping out in anger.

Sid gripped his arm, holding him back and glared fiercely at Meera.

I wanted to calm Arjun down but I was too numb to react and my feet were glued to the spot.

Fear flashed through Meera's eyes and she hesitated. Clearing her throat, she composed herself. "There's no reason for me to lie. I have nothing do with you anymore. I owed Rohan." A vicious smile spread across her lips and she shrugged. "Guess we are even now."

With a parting smile, she walked away from there, leaving the three of us baffled.

Arjun cursed loudly, kicking the side of a car nearby while Sid and I exchanged alarmed glances.

"Arjun," Sid tried, "you know how she is. Don't let her get into your head."

But Arjun seemed to have turned a deaf ear to him as he raked a hand through his hair in frustration, his face taut with tension.

Sid glanced at me with pleading eyes and I blinked at him in assurance. I let out a small breath and took small, hesitant steps towards Arjun. Almost reluctantly, I kept a cautious hand on his shoulder, wary of his mood. He whipped his head to me and I stifled a gasp at the raging fury in his eyes. His face was conflicted, a flurry of emotions. Slowly, I glided my hand down his arm and held his hand, entwining our fingers.

I squeezed his hand softly and after a couple of seconds, his shoulders relaxed. The harsh lines around his mouth softened while my own face morphed into relief. Wounding my other arm around his elbow, I peered at him softly. "Let's go home first."

He inhaled sharply and responded with a curt nod.

From the corner of my eyes, I watched Sid as he exhaled heavily and a relieved look took over the worry on his face. He looked at me with gratitude and I smiled back at him.

"I'll drive." Sid waited for Arjun to argue but to his surprise, Arjun tossed him the keys without a word.

I was tired to death but couldn't manage even a blink of sleep as I closed my eyes and rested my head on Arjun's shoulder while Sid drove us to home.

"Man, I'm starving." Sid rubbed his hands together as the elevator stopped at our floor. "Do you have any food?"

"I'm not sure. I'll have to check in the fridge for any leftovers."

The elevator doors opened and we stepped out.

"Okay, I w-" Sid stopped abruptly and since he was walking in front of me, I bumped into him. Scowling at his sudden halt, I rubbed my nose and peeked around his shoulder to find what had him so stunned. My own feet came to a stop and I sucked in a shocked breath at the sight in front of me.

Rohan stood there leaning against the door, arms crossed and eyes focused on his shoes. Our arrival broke him out of his reverie and his head snapped in our direction. His eyes widened slightly and he straightened up, dusting his jeans.

"Hey." He shifted his weight on other foot, fidgeting with his hands. His eyes darted to me and shone with concern when he asked, "Are you okay, Kia?"

I blinked, not sure on what to say so I settled with a hesitant nod.

His lips curved in a small smile but it felt so wrong. This was not the Rohan I knew. Rohan was a carefree and straightforward person. This Rohan was extremely guarded and cautious of whatever he did. His every move seemed calculated and each word repeated numerous times in his head before being spoken.

I dared a glance at Arjun beside me who had gone extremely still. His face was passive, not an ounce of emotion in those callous black orbs that had looked at me so softly a few hours ago.

Rohan seemed to notice the awkwardness and his expression turned anxious. "I.. uh-" He cleared his throat, scratching his temple. "I guess we need to talk."

My heart sank further when I saw remorse and guilt shining in his eyes.

Please don't let Meera's words be true.

It would break Arjun.

His own brother deceiving him.

I rushed to the door, fumbling with the keys and opened it as fast as I could. Everyone filled in after me and we stood in the living area. Arjun and Sid were on my either side while Rohan stood in front of us.

I shuffled closer to Arjun, sparing him another fleeting glance but his gaze was fixed on Rohan, hard and unwavering. To anyone else, he appeared cold. Detached. But I knew better. I knew he was hurt and confused. This was his defense mechanism he had learnt throughout the years, to put on a mask of being unaffected to hide his true feelings.

"Explain." His cold voice cut through the thick tension in the hall.

Rohan flinched at the harsh command and looked down, regret etched on his face.

And then...

"It was me."

His voice shook as he spoke.

I held my breath, hoping I might have misheard him.

He looked up. "I told them that the property papers were here."

I gasped, covering my mouth with my palm.

"Why the fuck would you do that?" Sid yelled at him to which Rohan looked at him guiltily.

I turned to look at Arjun. His face hardened and his eyes turned a shade darker, trained at Rohan. His cold glare gave me chills and worry gnawed inside me as I wondered what was about to come.

"I think...it's about time you know the whole truth." Rohan sighed. "Three years back, I... I liked Meera."

What?

His eyes shot to Arjun, guilty and regretful. "At that time, I didn't know you were dating her. You were so secretive about your relationship, I had no idea she was your girlfriend."

I didn't like where this was going.

"I confessed my feelings to her and she told me she liked me back. But she said she wanted to wait before disclosing our relationship to anyone and I agreed." Rohan lowered his gaze as if he was unable to face Arjun after this confession. "I got to know about the truth on her birthday, a month later after she became my girlfriend. I wanted to take her out for dinner but she said she was going out with her friends. Later that night, I saw you and her together at a restaurant."

"When I confronted her the next day, she broke up with me saying she didn't have feelings for me anymore. But the truth was she was already going out with you for a couple of months and I didn't know about it until that day. I wanted to come out clean to you Arjun. But Meera threatened me that she would tell you I knew about your relationship and still decided to make a move on her." Rohan rubbed his face in exasperation, his expressions troubled. "I don't know what I was thinking. I got scared that you might actually believe her over me. But I couldn't let you be deceived by her like that so I hired a private investigator to do a little background check on her and made him drop the evidences at your home. They were enough proofs that she had been trying to scam you. You left her after that and I thought the problem was solved, I wouldn't have to talk about it ever again."

Shocked at the new revelation, I dropped on the couch, unable to take everything in.

Rohan's gaze shifted to me. "I'm so sorry, Kia. I never wanted to hurt you. Meera called me a month back and asked me to meet her. I didn't know what she wanted. I refused but she turned up at my place the next day with her friend, Karan Sehgal."

"Meera thought she could still blackmail me." He scoffed.

"They wanted to trick you into selling your company shares to them after you were going to sign the deal." Rohan looked at Arjun as he spoke. "And for that, they wanted my help. I wanted to refuse straightaway and inform you but you were finally happy after so long, I didn't want to spoil it. So, I made a plan. I agreed to help them only so that I could expose them later."

"I thought I had it all under control but," A humorless chuckle left his lips, "they were always ahead of me."

"Since there were other clients interested in the project too, Karan preponed the meeting on your birthday to ensure he bagged the deal. Thankfully, you cancelled it. He still wanted the property papers though. So, I told him you have the papers because I knew he wouldn't try to break into your house while you were there and that would give me time to plan my next move."

"What I didn't know was that you had decided to go to office at the last moment that day. As soon as I realized Karan had sent two goons to fetch the papers and Kia was alone, I rushed here but... I was late."

"I'm so, so sorry Kia." Rohan said quietly, his voice unusually low. "I wish I had reached here before. Even today I wanted to come here as soon as I got the news but I couldn't help but feel responsible for everything."

I broke into tears.

"Kia," Rohan kneeled before me, his face pleading. "Trust me. Please."

I shook my head vigorously, wiping my cheeks with the back of my hand. "I trust you." A hiccup escaped my lips. "I am just happy that you are innocent. You didn't do anything."

He smiled at me thankfully and I gave him a watery smile in return, a huge burden lifting from my chest.

Rohan didn't deceive us.

He was innocent.

He had good intentions for doing what he did.

Rohan glanced at Sid in apprehension but Sid nodded in understanding and smiled softly. He, too, understood why Rohan did that. Though the smile was short lived as Sid looked behind me, his face uncertain. Sniffling, I followed his gaze, only for my timid eyes to land on Arjun.

He didn't say a word as Rohan stood up and walked to him. "I'm sorry."

My nerves heightened when I noticed his icy gaze fixed on Rohan. I waited with bated breath, afraid of his next move but nearly died of relief when he hugged Rohan.

Arjun patted his back. "You're my brother, I believe you."

The relief visible in Rohan's forest green orbs made me sob harder and I exhaled a shaky breath.

Everything was okay.

"I just feel like if you would have told me before, maybe we could have avoided everything that happened."

Rohan's face turned apologetic. "I know. I'm sor-"

"It's okay." Arjun cut him off by placing a hand on his shoulder and his eyes flickered to me, the soft emotion swirling in them making my breath falter. "Someone has taught me that everybody makes mistakes. And it's fine. You didn't do anything wrong. You were just trying to protect me. If I was in your place, maybe I would have done the same too. What's important is that you realized your mistake and accepted it."

I gave Arjun a proud, teary smile and his own lips twitched upwards in a soft curve.

He faced Rohan again. "You chose to stay by my side and it is our choices that show what we truly are, not our abilities."

"Okay, Dumbledore." Sid mocked, snorting.

My eyes turned round as saucers and I slapped a hand on my forehead as soon as the stupid remark left his stupid mouth. Shaking my head at his antics, I sneaked a peek at Rohan and Arjun who were now glaring daggers at him for ruining the moment. Sid's eyes widened and he immediately straightened up, busying himself in his phone.

This guy is on a suicide mission.

Rohan rolled his eyes and spoke again. "Good thing is, I have enough proof to make sure both Karan and Meera spend a good time in prison. I'm going to the police station now and tell them everything I know."

"That's a good idea." Sid nodded sincerely as if he wasn't comparing Arjun with Dumbledore a moment ago. "I'll come with you."

Rohan's face dropped in an unimpressed, monotonous look. "No, thanks. I don't want to go to jail just because you couldn't keep your mouth shut and ended up making an inappropriate remark at an inappropriate time.'

"Aw, come on." Sid pouted.

We ignored him.

"Also," Rohan's voice was turned sober and he sighed softly, "I'm leaving for London tomorrow morning."

"What?"

"Our project going on there needs a supervisor. And I needed some time away from everything. So.."

"When will you be back?"

"I don't know." He shrugged, pursing his lips.

My eyes roamed on his face and I nodded in understanding. He was feeling guilty of what happened and although he wasn't to blame for anything, I understood and respected his decision.

"I came to see you guys for the last time before I leave."

I hugged him. "I want you to know that whatever happened, it's not your fault and we don't think any less of you. We trust you. You're still our same old Rohan."

He squeezed his arms around me in a bear hug. "Thank you."

"Is this goodbye?" I muttered sadly when he broke the hug.

"No. Just a small break." He patted my head.

"I'm gonna miss you." I smiled, my vision turning blurry due to my stupid, treacherous tears.

"I'm gonna miss your madness too." He chuckled and took out an envelope from the inner pocket of his blazer, hesitating as he forwarded it to me. "Can you give this to Maahi?"

I wiped a tear, frowning as I took the envelope from him. "You are not going to meet her before leaving?"

I knew there was something going on between them but I wasn't sure.

He shook his head, the look flashing in his eyes confirming my doubts about their secret, whirling romance.

Avoiding my gaze, he checked his watch. "I'll be leaving now. Bye."

He had almost reached the door when Arjun called out his name and he halted in his steps, spinning around to face us.

"Thanks for always having my back, brother." A small smile played on Arjun's lips and my heart clenched at the look on Rohan's face. He looked astonished as if he wasn't expecting anything like that.

Rohan smiled back at Arjun and all of a sudden, Sid enveloped Rohan in a brief hug. Rohan stood there, astonished with his hands by his sides while Sid muttered, "I didn't want to be left out."

Chuckling, I walked near Arjun and leaned my head on his shoulder. His arm came around me and pulled me slightly closer, rubbing my forearm.

Rohan shook his head in slight amusement at Sid and waved a bye as he stepped out. Sid closed the door after him and looked back at us.

"Soo..." He trailed off and I glanced at him expectantly.

"Food?" He cracked an unapologetic grin but his expressions faltered when he saw Arjun staring at him. "On the other hand, I think I should go."

He eyed us like we were the solution of his math homework and I grew wary of the way his face split in a teasing smirk as he winked slyly. "Cause I can clearly see how impatient Arjun looks to throw me out."

I swear his only goal in life is to annoy Arjun until he's vexed enough to kill him.

"What the-" Arjun stepped towards him but Sid rushed out of the penthouse before Arjun could do anything.

I laughed lightly and Arjun looked back at me, shaking his head. Locking the door, he came back and I circled my arms around him, laying my head on his chest. Pressing his lips to my forehead, he wrapped me in his warm embrace and my eyes fluttered close.

If I could stay like this forever.

Today was one hell of a day.

"You were right." I mumbled. "Staying at home and watching Thor was probably a better idea."

Arjun chuckled, his comforting fingers weaving through my hair. "Come on. Let's get you to sleep."

Yes, please.

I yawned, leaning my weight on him as we walked to the bedroom, his hand on my back probably because he was afraid I might fall in exhaustion and break my neck.

There was a nagging feeling at the back of my head as if I was forgetting something important but I couldn't seem to recall it.

As soon as I reached the bed, I dropped dead on it, groaning. My eyes were drooping close but I could feel the bed dipping on the other side as Arjun climbed in. Warmth enveloped my body when he covered me with a blanket and dropped a featherlight kiss on my temple.

"Goodnight, princess."

I hummed in content. "Night, Arjun."

Only when I was about to fall in a deep slumber, it clicked to me that we never really talked after my confession. My eyes snapped open and I turned around in haste but Arjun was already fast asleep.

My stomach twisted in knots as the thought occurred to me.

He never said he loved me back.

*

"Kitkat?"

"Kitkat?" I call out loudly as I rock Oreo, my youngest son, in my arms.

My other kids are playing catch in the ground and running after each other in circles.

A random lady comes upto me as I'm searching for Kitkat and asks. "Are you okay, dear?"

"No. Have you seen KitKat?" I ask her with hope in my eyes.

"Your dog?"

I throw a stinky glare her away, scowling harshly. "KitKat is my daughter, you idiot."

"Oh."

My glare deepens. "Now run away from here before my husband comes and shoots you in the head. He's in the mafia."

Scared, she scrambles away in hurry and just then a chopper lands beside me. Arjun steps out of the chopper with our twins in both arms. Two bodyguards appear out of nowhere and roll a red carpet in front of him for him to walk on it.

"We lost Kitkat." I cry out in panic when he approaches me.

"No, we didn't. She's here." He turns around and there she is, seated in a baby carrier strapped on Arjun's back. Kitkat squeals loudly on seeing me, clapping in joy.

Oh, thank god.

I sigh in relief but then snap back to attention.

"Wait a second." I look around, counting our kids. "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven..."

"No." I shake my head and count again. "There are only seven! Where is the eighth child?"

Arjun freezes in his place. "We lost a kid."

"We lost a kid!" I scream in horror. "This is the fifth time we have done it. Oh god."

"Okay, calm down. So we have Oreo-" He points towards me.

"Kitkat-" I point at his back.

"Lenovo-" He looks at his left side.

"Mercedes-" I point at his right side.

"Limo-" His eyes slide to our son who's running in circles all by himself.

"Gucci-" I narrow my eyes at my daughter who is twerking on 'who let the dogs out'.

"Horcrux-" He gestures towards the kid doing cartwheels beside the others.

"Who's left?" I holler loudly, panicked and baffled.

Arjun and I repeat the names again to recall which name we left by chance.

"Why is it so hard?" I whine, annoyed. "Why do we have so many kids?"

Arjun stares at me blankly. "Because every time we had a kid the first four times, you lost the bet and I got to name the children. So, you wanted to level the field by having equal number of children who were named by you."

My cheeks flare in embarrassment and I snap at him. "This is not the time for storytelling. Think!"

"Lenovo, oreo, horcrux..." I mutter to myself, thinking hard and when I'm almost about to cry, a light bulb goes off in my head and I jump in ecstasy. "Mjolnir!"

"Right!" Arjun's face brightens. "Mjolnir! We lost Mjolnir."

I grin in victory and pat myself for my excellent memory when I realize we still don't know where Mjolnir is and all colour drains from my face. "We lost him!"

Arjun copies my expressions. "Fuck. We lost him."

Where is Mjolnir?

"Where is he?"

"Mjolnir! Mjolnir!"

.

.

.

"MJOLNIR!" My eyes flew open in shock and I gasped aloud, breathing heavily.

"What happened?" Arjun walked over to my side.

"We need to find Mjolnir!" Hastily ripping off the blanket from my legs, I stood up and jumped into action, in a hurry to find my lost son.

"Who?"

I looked at Arjun as if he had lost his mind. "Mjolnir. Our son!"

"What!?" He regarded me with absolute incredulity and slight concern.

I scowled. "Did you forget-"

Wait a second.

What the hell!

I blinked rapidly, trying to come in terms with my surroundings.

Where was I again?

My foggy gaze became clear when my eyes roamed around the bedroom and realization dawned upon me.

Oh.

My goodness, it was just a dream.

I didn't have any baby yet.

I dropped on the bed with my head in my hands.

I've finally reached the height of insanity.

Dragging my hands down my face, I sneaked a glance at the handsome devil who was standing there with an annoyingly hot smirk on his annoyingly hot face. Snapping out of my trance, I realized that he had freshly showered. He was only wearing pants and I was immediately distracted by his very naked, muscular chest on display.

I heard him asking something but my hazy mind was still stuck in the dream and my eyes were busy feasting on those abs.

Arjun snapped his fingers in front of my face and I looked up, startled.

"Huh?" I blinked twice as his gorgeous face came into my view, amusement twinkling in his eyes.

"You named our kid after Thor's hammer?" He crossed arms over his chest and I could clearly hear the judgement in his tone.

I fought with my conscience to not stare at those drool worthy abs for long. I sprang up and squinted my eyes at him, poking his chest. "Says the one who named our daughter Mercedes!"

A weird expression crossed his face and I recognized the look very well. This was the same look my friends gave me when they expressed their concern over admitting me to a mental hospital.

"Don't look at me like that, mister." I snapped. "Who names their kid Gucci?" I asked in disbelief.

"I thought you said Mercedes?" He trailed off, unsure.

"There was more than one child!" His mouth dropped open as I blasted at him.

"Wha-" He closed his half-open mouth and shook his head. "You know what, it's too early to have a conversation with you. I need all my brain cells in hyperactive mode if I have to talk to you. So, until I either have caffeine or alcohol in my body, I'd prefer you put a pause to our conversation."

I gaped at him. Fuming in anger, I turned to leave but he caught my wrist and pulled me to him. My breath left my lungs in a whoosh as I collided with him and my stupid heart that loved having him so close to me went pitter-patter when he brushed away a strand of hair from my face.

His lips twitched in his infamous smirk as if he found a brand-new source of his entertainment.

Was it only me or did he turn hotter since last night?

"So, you were dreaming about our kids?"

His voice brought me out of my la la land and my anger turned into embarrassment. Flustered, I pondered on how to get out of the mess that I had created.

Excellent. My conscience slow-clapped for me.

"How many kids did we have?" His smirk widened while my cheeks flushed red.

Oh god.

I cursed my stupid dream and my stupid tongue which had a mind of its own whenever Arjun was near me.

Humor glittered in his dark orbs as he saw me struggling to answer his questions. I tried to leave but his fingers simply tightened around my wrist as he locked me in his arms and waited patiently, clearly enjoying himself.

Damn him.

"Eight." I mumbled begrudgingly.

His brows shot up in mock surprise and he pursed his lips, trying not to laugh at my uncomfortable expressions.

Anger built up inside me as I jerked out of his hold and pushed him back. "I hate you."

Unfazed with my push, he gave me a charming smile which was enough to make any girl swoon. "As far as I remember, that's not what you said last night."

Oh my god.

My eyes widened in horror but before I could freeze in my place, his phone started ringing and he picked it up. His mood turned serious as he talked on call and went to the closet.

I face-palmed, slumping against the wall. That's not how I wanted the confrontation to go.

A few minutes later, Arjun came out of the closet, fully dressed. "I need to go somewhere. I'll be back late."

"But it's Sunday today." I complained. I wanted to spend the day with him.

He sighed. "I know. But there is something important I need to deal with first."

The way his posture changed when he said that, I understood what he was talking about and didn't question him further.

His phone chimed again. He glanced at it and came closer to me. "I'll be going now. Bye."

"Be safe." I hugged him.

He kissed my forehead. "Don't set our house on fire."

*

"He loves me..."

"He loves me not."

"He loves me..." I plucked another rose petal.

"He loves me not."

"He loves me..."

I looked at the last petal on the stem.

"He loves me not," I spoke slowly as I tore a piece of the petal and dropped it on the ground.

With a triumphant grin, I plucked the remaining petal. "He loves me. Ha!"

Mentally patting my back at my amazing thinking skills, I did a little victory dance at the achievement. "He loves me! Woo-hoo."

A cool breeze flew around me and I glanced around, shivering. I was in the balcony and it was quite chilly but that didn't stop me from dancing around like a monkey.

Arjun wasn't back home yet and I didn't have anything better to do. So, like any other sane person, I chose the only option to find out whether Arjun loved me.

"What are you doing?"

The deep voice nearly gave me a heart attack as I screamed loudly and spun around, only to come face to face with my devil who had probably seen me doing a weird tribal dance.

Talk of the devil.

"You scared me!" I placed a hand on my chest, my heart still thumping loudly.

"I scared you?" He looked at me as if I was talking about never touching chocolates again. "You scare me."

"What are you doing here?" His eyes flickered to the rose petals lying on the floor.

"I.. uh.. I was trying to make some rosewater."

He cocked a brow. "Rosewater?"

I nodded rapidly, almost cracking my neck. "It's very good for the skin."

His eyes narrowed at me and I grinned nervously. He didn't believe me, obviously, but didn't say anything either.

"It's getting cold here. Get inside. Or at least wear something warm."

"Okay." I stepped inside and slid the glass door shut. "Let me grab my hoodie."

I walked to our room with Arjun by my side.

"You mean my hoodie?"

"No, it's mine now."

A few days ago, I had worn one of Arjun's hoodies and it was so comfortable and warm that I had immediately claimed it as mine.

Stepping inside the room, I went straight to the chair where I had kept it last night but it wasn't there.

"By the way, there's something I wanted to tell you."

I was busy searching for my precious hoodie that I didn't notice the change in his tone.

"Go on." I muttered, distracted and peeked behind the night stand.

"I love you."

"Yeah, that's fine but have you seen the hoodie anywhere? I can't find it." I picked a pillow from the bed, looking beneath it.

Silence followed my question. Why wasn't he saying anything? Didn't he kn-

I stopped.

So did my breath.

And almost every essential organ of mine.

The pillow dropped from my hands.

Time froze for a moment as the words replayed in my head.

Did.. Did he...

Stunned to my core, I whirled around to make sure I hadn't imagined him saying those words.

"Wh-what?" My voice was a breathless whisper in contrast to my vigorously beating heart. I clutched the nightstand behind me to keep myself from falling.

Can he please give me a disclaimer before saying anything that might lead to a sudden death?

Please tell me I wasn't hallucinating.

His lips curved in a soft smile as he stalked towards me. Curling an arm around my waist, Arjun pulled my frozen body closer. He cupped my cheek, his thumb grazing my temple and I took in a shuddering breath. His dark orbs were brimming with the emotion I earlier thought he wasn't capable of.

Love.

For me.

Without saying anything, he pressed his lips to mine with such tenderness that my legs nearly gave out. Colours burst behind my closed eyelids as he kissed me, holding me close. My left hand crumpled his shirt while my right hand held his jaw and his arms tightened around me.

I was floating in my dreamland, blissful and on the top of the world.

Arjun broke the kiss too soon, much to my disappointment. But his next words were my undoing as he whispered softly, his lips brushing mine with every word he spoke.

"I love you, princess."

My conscience knocked on my ribcage looking for any sign of heart beat. I didn't know whether my heart had gone into overdrive or just stopped beating altogether.

Only he could incite such a reaction from me. He had the power to make me feel vulnerable and protected at the same time. He could turn me into a complete mess one moment and then calm me down the very next second.

"The day you cried in my arms, I fucking hated every moment of it. You were hurting and I couldn't do anything. I had never felt so useless in my life. You know, I always used to think that you are just a part of my life but it was that moment when I realized that you are my life. And if something had happened to you, I don't know what I would've done." A harsh breath left his lips and he touched his forehead with mine.

Tears clouded my vision and I couldn't stop the wide smile that spread on my lips.

Was this happening for real?

His knuckles wiped the tear that had accidentally leaked from my eye, his dark orbs glowing with love and adoration as he stared at me. "I'm in love with you Kiara Singhania, and it's about damn time that you know it."

He loves me!

He held me tighter as I let out a strangled sound, a mix of a laugh and sob.

"And when you told me yesterday that you loved me, I couldn't have been happier."

His smile was sweeter than chocolates, his eyes shining brighter than the stars.

His words were a melody to my ears and I could have listened to him for hours.

"Also," His voice turned mischievous as he took a step back, "I have another gift for you."

Arjun started unbuttoning his shirt and my cheeks flamed, my eyes widening to the point where I was afraid they might roll out of their sockets. He shrugged out of his shirt and threw it across the room with such urgency that I barely managed to swallow a shocked gasp.

Were we going to...

"How's it?" His voice cut me off from my chain of thoughts. Arjun arched an expectant brow, looking slightly nervous.

Why was he nervous?

"Wha-" My voice died in my throat and I gasped loudly when my eyes slid to the left.

There, in cursive writing, was my name tattooed on his shoulder blade. Kiara.

"You got a tattoo of my name?" I squealed in surprise.

"Do you like it?"

"I love it." I started jumping up and down, holding his arm in a death grip. "Oh my god."

My cheeks were starting to hurt from all the grinning but I couldn't care less.

His face broke in a soft smile and it was so contagious that I couldn't help but giggle along with him, my heart soaring with love for him.

I looked closer. "When did you get it?"

He shrugged. "A couple hours ago, I guess."

My shaking fingers traced the alphabets inked on his skin.

"David nearly fainted when I asked him to take me to Alaiya's tattoo parlor."

I laughed softly, my eyes unable to shift away from my name.

"Is it permanent?"

"Yes."

"You actually did that." I whispered in wonder.

"Is it cheesy enough for you?"

My eyes flitted to his face and a giddy laugh bubbled out of my chest.

"Gosh yes, it is." I nodded fervently. "This is the cheesiest thing anyone has ever done for me."

He smirked. "Mission successful."

I couldn't resist myself at his cheeky expression and kissed him with everything in me to show him how much he meant to me.

"I love you." I muttered against his lips and he gave me a smug smile.

"I know."

My jaw hit the floor and I was about to smack his chest when he caught my hand in time and lowered it, entwining our fingers.

"More than chocolates?"

I nodded eagerly.

"More than Chris?"

My smile dropped in a straight line. "Now you're stepping over the line."

"No one can beat Chris." I announced with my chin held high.

He cocked his head to a side, his challenging gaze roaming on my face. "Guess I will have to change your mind then."

"I doubt it."

"Is that so?" His hand sneaked under my shirt and I bit my lip, my back arching at the feel of his warm fingers on my cold skin.

"Ye-yes. Chris is the...best."

He chuckled lowly, the deep rumble of his chest hitting me straight in the core. His face neared mine and I shivered as his eyes darkened, the low, seductive baritone of his voice making me weak in the legs.

"That's not the name you will be screaming tonight."

He pressed a kiss beneath my earlobe and I choked on air.

Holy. Fudge.

Heat pooled in my stomach and I clenched my thighs together, my hands balling into fists as he kissed my neck, his lips skimming over my sweet spot.

Oh.

Tingles ran all over my body and my pulse throbbed violently as his thumb grazed my collarbone, his other hand on my back pushing me more into him.

Someone arrange an ambulance for me.

I held my breath as his face came closer and he kissed me again, robbing me of all my senses. Without breaking the kiss, he started walking forward and I had to step back to match with him. The back of my knees hit the bed and Arjun carefully lowered me on the mattress.

I pulled away when I felt like I was almost going to die due to the lack of oxygen. Taking in large gulps of air, I glanced at Arjun as he towered above me. My heart was ready to beat out of my ribcage and I was pretty sure he could hear it.

He leaned closer, his hands pressing in the mattress on my either side and I clutched the bedsheet tightly.

"Wait!" I pushed his against his chest as I suddenly remembered something. "The hoodie!"

"Wha-" Arjun leaned back. Looking at me like I had asked him to jump from the balcony, he rolled his eyes. "The maid spilled some coffee on it in the morning. It's in the laundry."

"Oh."

"Yes. Is there anything else you want to know?" His voice was laced with sarcasm as he tilted his head. "Some really important topics maybe? The constitutional rights, Big bang theory, wa-"

Can this man stop with the sarcasm for once?

Encircling my arms around his neck, I kissed him and pulled him down with me. That shut him up very well and he put his hands and mouth to a better work.

A much, much better work.

And let's just say...
