Book 4: Chapter 69: Patch 12.0
The True Endgame
The next day, while all of the girls are offline, Fenrir and Rao head up to the city in-game to visit a certain version of Tabitha: the male version.
âBro, arenât we basically having our own guysâ night right now? But like, in the day? Guysâ day?â Rao asks.
âIâd say itâs more like a guysâ noon,â Fenrir answers.
âSame thing.â
âThen whereâs the moon at? How come itâs so light outside?â
âDonât be a smartass.â
âDonât be a redhead who thinks that noon is the same as night.â
âBro, I wasnât talking about the time of day being the same. I just meant, like, is there a difference between a guysâ night and a guysâ noon?â
âSure there is. For example, one is darker outside, the other is lighter outside.â
âBro.â
Fenrir gives the back of Raoâs nearest arm a friendly smack before saying, âGuysâ noons are for lunches and⦠boring stuff. Guysâ nights are for drinking, having fun, and being stupid.â
âAight, that makes more sense,â Rao says after smacking Fenrir back. âSo, this boy you were talking about. Heâs like some sort of engineer-type like the shortie?â
âYeah, think Tabitha but with a dick.â
âI donât want to think of the shortie with a dick. But, at least a guy should be easier to deal with and more chill.â
Tabitha, in real life, sneezes.
âThis is why youâre single,â Fenrir says.
âWhy?â Rao asks.
âWell⦠I mean, in your defense, I havenât seen you talk like that around any of the girls. At least, not recently.â
âYeah, isnât it fine as long as itâs just between us bros?â
âI donât know about fine, but itâs better.â
âItâs not like they probably donât talk about us behind our backs,â Rao says and shrugs, continuing forward.
Then he turns around and notices that Fenrir is falling behind.
âBro?â Rao asks.
âI⦠canât believe I never thought of that before,â Fenrir says.
âThought of what?â
âThe girls talking about us. What do my girlfriends say to each other about me?â
âIf you want to change plans, we can spy on them and find out what theyâre saying! Then weâll know if itâs okay to talk about them behind their backs. Itâs okay to do it if they do it.â
âIn this case, wouldnât it be alright for them to do it since you do it?â
âYou ask too many questions, bro.â
âWeâre not spying on them. Iâm just⦠curious now what sort of things they talk about when Iâm not around. I was just sort of assuming that they probably talk about the same things as usual, but without me. Now, Iâm thinking that maybe they do talk about other things. Girls like to gossip and talk about things when theyâre by themselves, right?â
âExactly! Thatâs why we should spy on them.â
âEven if I did try spying on them, you wouldnât be invited.â
âBro, why?â
âBecause youâre you and theyâre my girlfriends.â
âYeah, thatâs fair. So, you gonna do it?â
âNo.â
âWhatever. Whereâs this place weâre going to?â
Fenrir lifts a hand to point at the shop now that itâs within sight.
âWhatâs his name?â Rao asks.
âUh⦠we never asked,â Fenrir answers.
âSeriously? You donât even know the dudeâs name who weâre going to?â
âYou ask too many questions.â
âFair, bro â hey, wait! Thatâs myââ
Fenrir walks into the shop while Rao complains about having his line stolen from him.
âHey! Whatâre ya â oh, I recognize you,â the boy behind the counter says.
âBro! Donât just leave me while Iâm talkââ Rao gets interrupted when the door shuts on his face.
âYeah, hey again,â Fenrir says to the boy.
âFriend of yours?â the boy asks.
âYou could say that.â
âDidnât introduce myself last time, did I? Anyways, the nameâs Taylor,â the boy â Taylor, says.
âOf course your names would both start with t.â
âWhatâs that?â
âNothing. Anywaysââ
âDamn doors,â Rao says, rubbing his nose as he steps inside. âYo. The name is Rao. You?â he asks Taylor.
âYour nose is almost as red as your hair now,â Taylor says with a smirk.
âBro, I already donât like this kid. He reminds me too much of the shortie,â Rao whispers to Fenrir.
âOi, who do I hear ya callinâ a kid?â
âTch, and his hearing is way too good,â Rao whispers in an even quieter voice.
âI can still hear ya.â
âWe need a rule where we only talk to people a certain height because all these short people are starting to suck,â Rao whispers, his voice now as quiet as it can be without being impossible to hear.
âYep. Still hear ya.â
âIâm done,â Rao says before walking out of the shop.
âCouldnât actually hear anythinâ he was sayinâ after that first time,â Taylor tells Fenrir once the door is closed.
âYouâre definitely going to get along with Tabs. Anyways, do you have anything like rockets?â Fenrir asks.
âRockets? Ya mean like the kind that go to space?â
Fenrirâs previous statement canât possibly gain any more evidence to support it.
âNot that powerful. Iâm thinking more like⦠bottle rockets,â Fenrir explains.
âOh, yeah, that sort of thing would be easy. The game wonât let me make anythinâ too explosive, but I could definitely make some bottle rockets. Just donât expect them to be too powerful or anythinâ.â
âGreat, and thatâs fine. They donât need to be that strong. So, do you think itâd be possible to get like⦠a hundred of them within a couple of hours?â
âA couple of hours? Ya really want to rush this, donât ya?â
âIf Iâm right about you, Iâm sure you could handle it.â
âOf course!â Taylor says with a proud grin. âWhatcha got to make this worth my time?â
âHowâs some gold coins sound?â
âGold doesnât have much of a use around these parts. Ya didnât learn that yet?â
âYeah, but if Iâm right about youâ¦â
Fenrir brings Rao back into the shop and has him restore the chest in his pocket to its original size.
Taylor looks into the chest and sees the vast amount of gold coins just waiting inside of it. Thereâs enough in there that he could take a bath in it! Well, maybe not that much.
âThatâs a lot of coins,â Taylor says.
âSo, itâd probably be way overkill in any other part of the world, but howâs it sound?â Fenrir asks.
âSounds like weâve got ourselves a deal.â
