Chapter Sixteen

We made it to the hospital in record time and Edward wasted no time, opening the door and carried Bella out and into the building.

Charlie and Renee were both on their way here but until then Bella was in my care.

Everyone looked over at us, and came to our aid, bringing a gurney over, Edward sat her down on it, she was ran off, I followed close behind.

My entire body was tense and shaky, I went as far as they would let me till they went through the emergency doors, and I ran a shaky hand through my hair nearly breaking down.

Carlisle was at the front desk, telling them a made up story about what happened.

All I could do was wait and cry. While I knew Bella was healed, she still wasn't out of the clear.

"Elena?"  I looked up at whoever said my name and saw a young woman, long blonde hair, blue eyes and a very flawless face.

"Juliet?" I asked staring at her in shock. "What are you doing here?"

"I work here." She told me pulling me to the side away from everyone. "The important thing is why are you here, why didn't you tell me you were coming to Phoenix?"

Juliet was Easton Lovelace's granddaughter, I knew she had gone to medical school but I didn't know she was living in Phoenix or working here. Her mother passed away leaving her and her younger brother Simon. Simon was the same age as me.

"I didn't know you moved to Phoenix... Simon didn't say anything in his last letter...." I mumbled trailing off.

"Elena."

I sighed in worry and began telling her what happened the best I could. Lucky for me none of my cousins were normal.  I didn't have to make up any story.

After I finished talking, she wrapped her arm around me.

"Okay, don't worry I'm sure she'll be okay." She said pulling me into a hug, I didn't know I needed.

Carlisle came over drawing my attention. He glanced at Juliet and gave her a small sad smile.  He handed me a clipboard, I glanced at it.

"I need you to fill this out." He told me making me nod.

I sighed pulling from Juliet and slowly filled out everything, full name, blood type and all that stuff since I was her cousin, I was the next of kin until Charlie and Renee got here.

I finished it but before I could hand it back, Juliet took it and gave me a comfort smile.

"Let me take care of this... if you can't use connections sometimes then what's the point" She told me giving me a pat on the shoulder and walked over to the desk.

I turned and stared at the sign above the door before going over to a section of chairs and sat down. Carlisle followed.

'I pray to the Goddess'

My phone buzzed, I pulled it out and checked the ID, Jazz and clicked the answer button.

"Is it done?" I asked drawing Edward and Carlisle's attention.

'It's done, we used the made up story, he believed it, and is on his way.'

"Okay, thanks Jazz." I mumbled into the phone. The conversation lasted a few minutes before we hung up and I put my phone back in my pocket.

Carlisle, Edward and I sat there in silence for a few minutes. I didn't know what to say.

Juliet came back over, informing us that Bella was going into surgery, and she was going to let us know what happens. She stayed for a few seconds and slipped away.

It was around three in the morning when Bella finally got out of surgery. Bella had four broken ribs, a broken leg and a few cracks in her skull but thanks to my healing, the bleeding and the wound on her thigh had been healed.

Sitting outside the room waiting to see my cousin I was on the phone with Charlie who told me that he had just landed and that he would be here soon, I could hear his panic, but I reassured him. Renee was on her way too.

Finishing the call, I put my phone in my pocket and turned, spotting Juliet coming up to me with half a sub sandwich and drink in her hand.

"You need to eat something." She told me holding it out to me, sitting beside me. "The little sub shop next door makes the best veggie sandwiches. You are vegetarian right?"

I nodded, taking it and smiled at her.

"Yeah thanks." I told her adjusting myself and sat the sub down, unwrapping it and bit into my veggie delight and nearly groaned, it had been so long since I had any real food, I was so stressed out that I had no appetite. "Ooh that's good."

I looked at my cousin.

"So how long have you been in Phoenix?" I asked tilting my head at her.

"A few months." She told me. "I'm still debating rather this is the right fit for Simon and I.. it's been rough since Mom died."

I nodded, giving her an understanding look.

"I get it." I said quietly.

"She's okay now." I heard Carlisle say and looked at him. He was staring at Edward, he had a deep frown on his face. "You'll get to see her soon they just want to make sure she's out of the red, it shouldn't be too long."

Carlisle looked at me and flashed me his signature soft look.

"Without Elena's fast healing, she would have been worse."

I saw the proud fatherly look on his face and nodded, going back to eating.

Juliet and I continued our small talk while I ate.

I finished eating just in time for Charlie to arrive with Renee, followed by Renee's husband Phil and both of them came at us.

"Elena! Are you okay?" He asked panicking. "How's Bella? What happened? Are you hurt?"

"I'm fine Uncle Charlie." I told him standing up quickly. "I'm so sorry, I should have kept a better eye on her, I promised to, and I failed, I'm sorry..."

"Shh." He told me pulling me into his arms.

I could sense his sad aura and felt him shaking and just hugged him back tightly.

Renee just stared at us in confusion glancing at Carlisle, Edward and then me.

"I don't understand." She told us. "What happened?"

Calmly I explained using the made up version of the story that Jazz, Carlisle, Edward and I came up with, I was very used to doing this. I didn't like lying but it was a safe and better option.

That Bella and Edward had gotten into a fight, and she wanted to get away, I took her out for a spa day to make her feel better but when we got back to the house, we learned that Edward and Carlisle were there, Bella went to their hotel room and tripped on the stairs and went through a window, Carlisle being a doctor helped her.

After hearing that Renee told me that it wasn't my fault, that accidents happened and thanked Carlisle, letting Edward know it wasn't his fault either.

Charlie pulled me into another hug making me smile.

After a while Juliet told us that Bella was sleeping but she was out of the danger line, and we could see her.

Charlie, Renee and I both followed her into Bella's room and although I knew she'd be okay, I stared at my cousin in worry laying on a hospital bed with a large tube.

Juliet patted my arm gently before walking out leaving us to be with my cousin.

We surrounded Bella's bed waiting.

'Thank Goddess'

A week later Charlie pulled the cruiser up into the driveway of home and I couldn't help but smile, knowing I was home.

Bella told me that Renee wanted her to move in with her and Phil and that Phil had been signed by a team, but Bella wanted to stay in Forks.

Anyway, we were home, I hoped out of the car and helped Charlie support Bella, she had to use crutches due to the broken leg.

"Dad, Lena I'm not going to break." Bella said protesting helping her into the house and upstairs to her room.

"You sure about that?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "Do you know how many bones you've broken?"

She was a little annoyed at the attention but took it, we made sure she was safely up in her room.

I helped her unpack while Charlie turned and walked back out.

"Elena I can do that myself." She told me.

"Just relax and milk all the attention." I retorted finishing up and turned around to her, she sighed in defeat and sat down on her bed.

I gave her a look before walking out of her room and into mine, I closed my door and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and leaned against it.

This whole thing had been an exhausting and emotional event that I've ever had to go through other you know my parents dying right in front of me.

'Mew'

I shook my head clear, and my eyes flickered over to Piper on my bed, smiling I instantly went over and picked her up and hugged her tightly and fell backwards ono the bed. I just laid there letting out a yawn. I was so exhausted the feel of my bed felt good.  I laid there for a few minutes before I heard a couple pops and my body shot up.

I jumped up as my tired eyes made out the faces of my best friends, Quinn and Jazz were standing in my room.

"We are soo glad you're okay." Quinn said launching forward and hugged me tightly.

I winced as she touched a soft spot making her pull back and stare at me frantically.

"You are okay right?" She asked looking me over for any wounds.

I smiled at my best friend.

"I'm fine just a little sore." I told her.

She sighed in relief and squeezed me in another hug.

I patted her back and glanced up at Jazz, we shared a grin at our worry friend.

After a while Quinn pulled back, Jazz came over sitting on the bed joining us.

"That whole thing was crazy." I told them making them nod in agreement. "I took my cousin to play baseball and the next thing I know a vampire wants to have her for dinner."

"And we still have work to do." Quinn said sighing. "The tracker is gone but his friends are still here... that red head."

I looked at her seeing that look on her face again and sighed deeply.

"We'll deal with it later." Jazz said giving her a firm look.

"Jazz is right." I said in agreement. "Right now I just want to sleep and rebuild my energy... Teleporting and healing Bella took a lot from me."

They nodded.

"What about this weekend, day before prom." Jass said smiling wide. "The three of us can hang out, circle time and watch movies."

"With chinese food and chocolate, all the junk food we can eat." Quinn said happily. "And tons of movies."

"As long as it's not a nature film." Jazz said shooting her a look.

"What's wrong with nature?" Quinn retorted putting her hands on her hips.

I let out another yawn, seeing the girls glaring at each other and giggled.

"Okay break it up." I told them feeling my eyes dropping. "I need sleep so I will see you at school tomorrow and this weekend we will have our magical witch sister day."

"I'll be there." Quinn said nodding.

Both of them stood up and moved back.

"Me to." Jazz called before the two of them popped out in sync.

I watched them disappear long enough until they were fully gone before lying my head back down and gave into the pull of darkness.

New Chapter

Thinking of adding a fourth member of the coven, possibly a male... should I use one of Elena's other distant cousins?

I don't own anything except the Lovelace family, Quinn and Jazz. All of Elena's cousins aside from Bella are mine.

Give me ideas!
