Chapter 21

Chapter Nineteen

The Hot Head's Girl

A few days later, I was home, getting ready for bed and cuddled up to Piper, reading from the book with notes on shifters.

Since Paul imprinted on me I was getting more curious on what was going to happen next. We haven't really seen each other since that night.

He, Jared and Sam were busy setting a patrol schedule and learning how to control his anger.

It was normal for a new shifter to spend a couple weeks or so away from people, so they could adapt.

Anyway I was reading a page Elise had written about imprints, being an imprint herself and a witch, she'd have tips, most of what I was reading spoke of her and her husband.

While part of me was excited, the other half was nervous. I've been friends with Paul since he started following Sam around. He was one of my friends, and yes I had a major crush on him for years but Paul was now a shifter, and I kind felt like I was being forced into a relationship I didn't have much say in.

It all happened so fast, I couldn't stop to really think about it and I didn't exactly have anyone I could talk too other than Jasmine and Quinn but the girls weren't home yet.

I guess I could go talk to Rosalie or Alice but Rosalie would probably yell at me for getting involved with a shifter and I wasn't sure if they would think I was taking sides.

I suddenly felt discouraged thinking about that. Would they hate me? They're my family.... and what about the shifters, would they hate me for being friendly with the Cullens?

Flipping the page I searched for the answers in Elise's book, hoping to find something and stopped on a page where it spoke of her feeling torn between the two sides.

My phone started to ring, drawing my attention, I picked it up without looking at the ID.

"Hello?" I answered focusing on Elise's words.

"Hey, Elena, it's me." I heard Paul's voice ring out. "Sorry I know it's late."

"No it's okay but aren't you suppose to be out on patrol?" I asked checking the time. "Sam won't like it if you slack off, neither will I...  Aside from a few orders I have to fill, I'm off witch duty until the girls come home."

I heard him chuckle.

"I finished an hour ago, it's Jared's turn... anyway what have you been up too today?"

"My usual woke up did my morning ritual, made breakfast and lunch for Charlie. Spent time in my garden, collected herbs and started working on special orders.... typical witch stuff." I said shrugging not saying a whole lot. "Did you want something?"

"Yeah um... I called because I uh.... that is if you want."

"Spill it Lahote." I muttered making him sigh.

There was silence on the other end for a really long time, I was still reading the notes only paying half attention to him so I didn't notice he went quiet.

"I was wondering if we could do something.... like a date."

My eyes snapped from the book, to the phone.  Did Paul Lahote just ask me out. My mind went into overdrive trying to process it.  Paul just asked me out, oh my goddess. I was freaking out. He just imprinted on me a few weeks ago, now he's calling to ask me out.

"Elena?"

"Sorry." I muttered shaking my head clear. "Uh are you okay to do that? I mean you're still a pack newbie... and no offense but your a bit more temperamental than-"

"Sam gave me the clear, it was actually his idea."

"Oh... that's cool." I told him feeling a grin growing on my face.

"So you and me? A date?" I heard him ask.

My heart fluttered, as butterflies skyrocketed all around.

"Yes, a date sounds awesome."

"Cool..." Paul answered, his voice sounded confident and more musky. "Um tomorrow?."

"Yeah, that'd be fine."

"I'll call you tomorrow with details." He said before saying goodbye.

I returned the goodbye, before hanging up and stared at my phone in shock.

I was going on a date with Paul Lahote... Tomorrow night.

"Life is going to change Piper." I muttered.

'Mew'

Cuddling up to my furry baby, I laid down and stared at the wall.

-----

The next day after spending most of my day freaking out about the big date tonight.

I had already taken a shower and stood in my room, dressed in my robe with a towel around my hair.

My room was a mess, it looked like a bomb had exploded.... I had every piece of clothes, shoes, accessories and bags I owned on my bed trying to find something.

Most of the clothes I wear are a little fancy, while some are laid back but still fashionable.  We were only going to hang out at Emily's house and watch movies. It was a triple date, Sam and Emily, Paul and I and Jared and his imprint Kim.... so basically it was a shifter/imprint date.

Since it was only a movie thing my fancy clothes weren't needed

Usually if I couldn't find something, I would ask my fashion fairy god-sister but I didn't know how to tell them.

Settling on wearing a dress, I glanced through my collection of them. My eyes found a solid black one it was short sleeved, perfect deep neckline, the skirt fell just below my knees.

Placing my dress on a clothing hook I had on my closet door. I sat at my vanity and started playing with my makeup. Since the dress was black, I decided to add a mix of black and purple eyeshadow, on half black, the other purple. I applied mascara and liner so my eyes would kind of pop and added my normal amount of black lip gloss.

As for my hair I decided to leave it down, letting it dry before I grabbed my curling iron and curled my hair a little.

I put on my dress and grabbed my black shoes, and grabbed my valerian necklace putting it on and grabbed my bag.

Picking up my phone, I looked at the time and decided I might as well head down and grabbed my leather jacket.

Giving myself one last look over, I smiled at Piper.

"Wish me luck." I told her making my way downstairs. 'Goddess let this go well'

"Hey you're all dressed up." Charlie said from his spot on the couch. "What's the occasion?"

I stopped on my way to grab my keys, turning my heal and stared at him.

"I uh got a date."

"Date?" He asked in confusion.

"Yeah uh with Paul." I told him.

"Lahote?" He asked making me nod.

Charlie's face kind of lit up a little.

"You got a date with Paul Lahote?" He asked again.

"Yes." I told him confirming it.

He continued staring at me making me start to panic a little.

"Well it's more of a double date, we're going to hang out with Sam and Emily." I said starting to ramble. "I already premade your dinner you just have to microwave it like normal... I shouldn't be home too late.... I uh-"

"Honey..." Charlie said cutting me off, staring at me. "It's okay, I trust you, you can do things without asking for permission."

"Really?" I asked tilting my head at him. "You're not going to give me a curfew or threaten him with your gun or tell me how bad of a guy Paul is and I shouldn't be hanging around him?"

He got up from the couch, grabbing his empty beer can, coming over to me.

"I'm not your father, I can't tell you what to do or who you can and can't date."

I frowned hearing him say that and stared at him.

"No your my uncle." I told him gently. "But you're the closest thing to Mom and Dad I can get, they would be happy, proud and grateful you took me in and raised me all these years."

I pulled my uncle in a snug tight hug for a quick second.

"Okay I'm headed out." I told him making him nod.

I grabbed my keys and headed for the door.

"Elena...'

I turned back to Charlie, he had a proud smile on his face.

"You look beautiful." He told me.

I smiled at him before opening the door and walking out.

There wasn't one cloud in the sky, or any rain but it was still kind of cold. I slide my leather jacket on, heading for my jeep and slide into the bench. Once I was in my jeep, I turned the heat on high and waited for the warmth to work it's magic before backing out of the driveway and headed towards La Push.

---

It didn't take me long to pull up to where Emily was living. She had just bought the place so she was still fixing it up. When Sam came back after his meltdown, he broke things of with Leah but ended up imprinting on Emily.

It wasn't cause Sam wanted to, especially not on Leah's own cousin but that wasn't something Sam could control. It made things hard for me too cause I've befriended her and I was still hanging out with Sam, which made Leah mad, she pretty much has accused me of betraying her friendship.

Kim was one of Jared's classmates who had a crush on him but he never noticed her until a few days ago when he imprinted on her. She seemed like a nice girl.

Shaking off those thoughts, I parked the jeep and hopped out without wrinkling my clothes.

Paul must have been waiting cause he was coming out to meet me before I could close my door.

"Hey."

"Hi." I greeted smiling.

He flashed me his award winning smirk, causing fireworks in my stomach. My heart was beating so fast I thought it was going to fly out of my chest.

"Sorry I know this probably isn't your idea of a first date but-"

"No it's fine." I said cutting him off, reassuring him. "It's no problem."

"Come on, Emily's got stuff cooking and Sam's fighting Jared over which movie to watch.."

I laughed at that.

Closing my door, the two of us made our way inside. Paul opened the front door for me making me smile and walked in with him behind me.

"Elena your finally here." Emily said coming out of the kitchen, drying her hands.

"Yeah sorry had to make dinner for Charlie before I left." I told her shrugging off my jacket, I hung it up politely.

Glancing around Jared and Sam were standing in the middle of the tiny living room like they were having a standoff.

"We understand." Emily told me grabbing my hand and tugged me into the kitchen. "Come help me finish the snacks would you?"

"Yeah sure why not." I said nodding. "I love cooking.... Sue said you make an amazing Teriyaki tofu I've been dying to try... How?"

"Well I use spring onion and serve it with whole grain rice... takes about 30 minutes." She started to say, dragging me into the kitchen. "I'll give you the recipe if you give me your chocolate brownie cup cookies..."

I grinned.

"Deal." I said making her smile.

I glanced at Paul, seeing that he was staring between Sam and Jared.

We made eye contact, he shook his head smirking.

He stayed with the guys while I went into the kitchen with Emily.

There was a bundles of smells coming from every inch.

"What exactly are we making?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"Well I thought homemade Pizza, and some muffins and a fresh salad.... the guys can eat a ton so I grabbed as much stuff as I could..."

There was a very pretty young woman, with gorgeous russet skin and brown hair. She had a sort of a kiddish face. She was sitting at the table, filling a muffin pan with some kind of dark goo.

I had a feeling this was Jared's imprint, I knew almost everyone on the rez so it made me curious.

"You're Kim right?"

"Yeah hi." She greeted flashing me a timid smile.

"Elena." I muttered moving to the table. "Most call me Lena or Ellie, or Angel."

"Your that witch girl?" She asked making me look at her in slight surprise.

I glanced at Emily seeing a simple look on her face, before reminding myself that Kim was Jared's imprint so naturally there would be no secrets between them.

I sighed and nodded, moving closer.

"Yeah."

"Kim." Emily said giving her a firm look. "Let's start on the Pizza's."

"So you cast spells, make potions and all that stuff?" Kim asked tilting her head at me.

"I do." I told her honestly, turning to Em. She had a gentle look on her face, not even batting an eye knowing there's a witch standing in her kitchen. She handed me a thing of pizza rough and a rolling pan along with the pizza pan.

I could see their auras changing colors, and knew they were curious.

"It's okay you can ask as many questions as you want." I told them grinning. "I'll try to answer as many as I can"

"Are you sure I mean we would understand if you don't want to tell us anything." Em said smiling at me.

"I'm not ashamed of what I am." I said shrugging. "And I think I can trust you seeing we're all part of a certain secret club... what's one more secret?"

I started rolling out the dough.

"Were you born or turned?" Kim asked drawing my attention for a second.

"Born." I said firmly working on the pizzas. "My grandmother came here first nearly two thousand years ago with my grandfather when Forks was just beginning to grow, they were immortal."

"Vampire?"

"My grandfather was half vampire, half werewolf the correct term would be hybrid"

"Hybrid?" Kim asked sounding it out.

I nodded.

"When he and grandmother fell in love, she casted a spell so she could live as long as he did." I told them thinking highly of my grandparents. "It's an immortally spell, freezes our aging."

"Awe that actually sounds romantic and sweet " Emily said making me smile.

" Grams had an older brother Evan and a sister Elise-

I handed the first two pans to Emily who sat them in the oven. The two of us worked in sync while Kim helped by grabbing the bags of chips, and other junk and started working on a salad.

"Elise? Like the Elise from that story the elders tell?" I heard from behind me.

We turned seeing Jared, Sam and Paul walking in.

It looked like they had finally finished fighting over what movie to watch and were now waiting for us to finish our part of the triple date.

Paul stared at me.

I nodded, they're eyes went wide staring at me in shock.

"You're related to her?"  Jared asked looking equally freaked.

"I literally just said Elise was my grandmother's sister." I said nodding again. "She was a very powerful witch, and an imprint herself, she had the healing touch, when she got married to her husband Grams passed the immortally spell to her unfortunately during that war when he died, Elise lost her heart and reason to keep going, she lived untill her daughter Eleanor was happily married then passed away, it broke my Grams to pieces " I thought bak remembering the day news came and my grandmother was never the same for a ling time.

They all nodded in understanding.

"Okay so what powers do you have?" Emily asked sitting down at the table for a second.

"Most witches have the same gifts." I told them feeling like this was daja vu I just had this talk with Bella.  " Telepathy, Telekinesis, teleporting..."

"Telepath? You can read our minds?" Kim asked very slowly.

I laughed at her.

"Don't worry I won't tell anyone." I told her glancing between her and Jared. Kim stared back at me with wide eyes, Jared just stared blankly.

I rolled my eyes.

"I can also heal people like my great aunt and my father... but like all my magic it comes with a limit." I added drawing their attentions. "It takes a lot of my energy....  I can't heal the dead or any evil guys... and I can't heal myself."

"Wow." Emily and Kim said in sync.

The guys, girls and I kept making small talk while the pizzas baked.

----

After a few minutes, a faint beeping started signaling that the last Pizza, we had put in twenty minutes ago was ready.

The guys had returned to the living room leaving us girls to our girly talk.

Emily smiled widely, pulling it from the oven and sat it on a tray.

We had about four different types of pizza's. There was a meat lovers, a cowboy with everything on it, one Hawaiian with olives and my favorite veggie with green peppers and ranch.

We had everything sat on the table, along side a case of coke, bowl of salad and chocolate chip muffins...

Emily, Kim and I all grabbed plates of what we wanted before we walked into the living room.  The guys were hanging out on the couch, the TV was paused showing the opening credits.

"Food is done!" Emily announced, as soon as she said that the three guys jumped up like a bullet and ran into the kitchen like they have never been fed before.

"They sound like a herd of elephants." Kim said grinning.

Emily and I laughed.

Settling down, Emily and I kind of took the couch and sat close together while Kim grabbed one of the chairs.

We fell into conversation easily like the three of us had been best friends for years.

When the guys finally returned with their overflowing plates of food. Paul slide into the empty spot beside me, while Sam was on Em's..

Jared moved over to where Kim was, taking the floor, with his back to the chair resting against her leg.

"So how do you feel about sixteen candles?"  Jared asked.

"Sixteen candles?" Kim asked in awe.

"You're favorite movie." Jared told her making her grin.

"It's a sappy love movie." Paul said rolling his eyes. "I hate sappy romance movies."

"I second that." Sam grumbled.

Emily and I shared a look, I glanced back at Paul.

"You guys totally owe me!." Jared exclaimed like a whiny kid. "I switched my patrol cause Paul wanted nights... and this morning I took Sam's morning one so you could help Emily shop."

Jared was acting like a little kid, I was used to his outrages personality.  I hang out with Quil, Jacob and Embry... the guys so when it comes to jokes, and little things I was used to it.

"Let's just watch the movie." Emily said staring at Sam firmly.

I nodded in agreement.

"Yeah it's not so bad." I added shrugging. "They can chose this time, next time will be one of ours."

I shared a look with Em, who nodded.

Sam and Paul sighed in defeat, making Em and I look at each other before giggling.

Jared hit play, and we settled down munching on Pizza and the other stuff we had.

While watching the movie, I wondered what movies Paul did like? For me I liked almost anything, I absolutely loved horror movies, Disney and fantasy.

Halfway through the movie, I had my head laying on Paul's chest, with his arm draped over me. Every once in a while I would glance at him seeing how he was handling it. He seemed to enjoy it though.

Out of the corner of my eye I could see Emily curled up to Sam while he played with her hair.

Jared was in a full make out with Kim. The two were the ones who picked the movie and they were acting like those couples in a dark movie theater, sucking faces and drawing unwanted attention.

---

Two hours later the movie had finished, I helped Emily with the clean up and exchanged phone numbers with Kim.

The girls and I hugged goodbye and I gave Jared and Sam their goodbyes too. Paul and I walked out together, my hand intertwined with his. Heading for my jeep.

"That was the dumbest movie ever." He said shaking his head in annoyance.

"It wasn't that bad."

He looked down at me, his anger instantly went away and his smirk reappeared.

"Of course you would think that."

"What does that mean?" I asked crossing my arms.

"Just that you're a girl.. girls like those kind of movies."

"Not this girl." I retorted laughing. "I'm more of a horror type.... I love a good scary movie, especially if there's a witch character involved."

"Well maybe... next time we can go see a movie..." He said opening my door for me. "Without the third and fourth wheels."

I smiled at him, gazing at him for a few minutes before kissing his cheek.

Pulling back there was a big grin on his face.

"It's a date." I mumbled.

Paul's eyes had a spark in them, stepping closer to me and wrapped his arms around my waist, tugging me closer.

He leaned in but paused like he was asking for permission. He reached up with both hands, cupping my face. I could feel his soft warm touch as he slowly crashed his lips against mine.

I froze for a few seconds... Paul was kissing me! Paul Lahote!  Oh my goddess!!!

A growl from Paul made me start to respond. Slowly my own arms slid up his chest and wrapped around his neck, bringing him down to deepen the kiss.

Kissing him was simple and sweet, waves were rushing to the shore, filling me with excitement.

Pulling back, I stared into his eyes, those brown pools of chocolate, I could see into his mind, his thoughts were happy, nervous, confident and more nervous but his aura was completely soaked in happiness.

"Wow..." I muttered breathlessly, letting out a deep breath.

He literally took my breath away. He grinned at me more relaxed.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" He asked hopefully.

I said nothing, nodding getting into the jeep. Turning the key, I rolled the window down and leaned out of it a little.

"I have to drop off some herbs for Billy." I told him trying to shake off what just happened and come back down to earth.

He nodded.

"Be safe tonight yea?" I asked knowingly. "I have a strange feeling... the last time I felt something like this, Bella came to town... a bunch of things went down."

"Don't worry." Paul told me firmly.

I smiled at him softly, staring at him for a few more seconds before he backed up a little. I bit my lip, putting the jeep in drive and drove away from the place.

Glancing through my rearview mirror, I could see Paul still standing there, watching me. I watched him until I couldn't see him anymore and turned back to the road.

Driving through the forest lined road of the reservation until I hit the bigger road that would take me home.

I sat in comfortable silence and let out a big sigh of relief.

'Thank the Goddess for this perfect day'

4/23/2024

Hope you enjoy, Elena and Paul had their first date, (triple date) and first kisss!!! Things are heating up! Hopefully it doesn't sound like I'm rushing their relationship but they will be together before the 'New Moon' timeline.

This is my fanfiction so if you don't like it then simply don't read it, I write this for fun, because Paul is one of my favorite shifter and I'd like to see more of his cuddly side too. I'd like to think he's calm and gentle towards his imprint than he is with other people.
