Chapter Eight
The Hot Head's Girl
Standing in my room, it was my typical morning, I woke up, did my routine and took a shower.
My hair was wrapped up in a towel, my room looked like a bomb had exploded. Clothes everywhere as I tried to figure out what to wear.
"I think it's about time I call Alice for a shopping trip." I muttered to myself. "I seriously need new clothes."
Piper let out a mew making me grin turning to her.
"Glad you agree." I said finally deciding on an outfit and looked at the clock seeing the time.
Removing my towel, I tossed it into my clothes basket and rummaged through my drawer slipping on underwear and matching bra set, I slide into my dark blue skinny jeans, sitting on the bed so I could get my pant legs to slip over my ankles, I laid on my back and fastened the button and zipped up.
I added my favorite long sleeved purple sweater with a low cut neckline , adding my black ankle boots, a woven friendship bracelet with a triquetra symbol, a couple rings and my valerian necklace, it didn't go with anything I was wearing but I wore it every day.
Moving over to my vanity, I stared at my reflection, I pulled the drawer open and grabbed my blow dryer quickly drying my hair. I hummed to myself a little and unplugged the dryer putting it back making sure it was cooled off.
I brushed my hair out and decided to leave it down, adding a small single braid and applied the usual amount of makeup I normally wore. Dark eye shadow, a few strokes of mascara and swipes of gloss that matched the color I was wearing, and I was looking like myself.
Hearing my second alarm go off I made note to put everything back later and grabbed my homework off my desk and put it in my binder, grabbing my bag, heading out.
Walking down the hallway, I passed Charlie's room where I could hear him snoring and smirked a little.
I heard a noise coming from Bella's room and stopped opening her door, she was sitting up in her bed looking confused and yet terrified.
"Hey, you're awake pretty early, you okay?" I asked moving over to her and sat on the edge of the bed.
"Yeah, I think so." She said looking down. "Just had another really weird dream.. third time this week."
"The same dream?" I asked making her nod. I frowned. "I'm sorry."
She looked at me, I could see fear and confusion in her eyes.
"Why don't you take a hot shower and get ready for school." I told her gently. "Breakfast will be ready soon, anything in particular you would like?"
"Wouldn't mind one of your famous omelets." She told me, she slowly got out of her bed and headed over to her closet and started looking for something.
"Okay that's simple and easy" I told her nodding standing up I headed out of the room and downstairs to the kitchen and started pulling things from the fridge to make classic simple omelets for three as says mine being tofu or vegetarian.
Hearing the shower going, I glanced at the clock seeing the time, so I turned and focused on my task.
The coffee and everything was ready, table was set and before I knew it everyone was sitting down having breakfast.
---
School seemed to go by pretty fast and suddenly it was at lunch time, I pushed through the doors, with Bella, she was looking over at something. I followed her eyeline to the Cullen's table. Edward ignored her causing her to get mad and pull me over to our usual table.
I gave them a small hidden smile.
'This is gonna be a long day.'
I sighed turning back to the table.
Jessica, Mike and Angela were already there with Jazz and Quinn. Bella dropped her book bag down while I sat down beside my girls.
Eric walked up to us.
"La push baby, you in?" Eric asked looking at Bella.
She looked at him in confusion. Eric was overly excited like he normally was but Bella didn't know him as long as I have so she wasn't used to him. She looked back at me.
"Should I know what that means?" Bella asked sliding into her seat.
"La push beach." I told her chewing on an apple. "Saturday is supposed to be a perfect sunny day which is rare so we're all going down this weekend, swimming, good food and a bonfire. I invited some friends to join us too."
Bella nodded.
"Plus there's a big swell coming in, perfect for surfing." Mike said smiling.
"And I don't just surf the internet." Eric said holding his arms out like he was surfing, grinning wide.
"Eric you stood up once." Quinn retorted smirking. "On a foam board."
Eric gave her a look.
"There's Whale watching too." Angela said looking at Bella.
"Speaking of which get your orders in now while you can so I can get everything food wise." I told them making them nod, glancing at Bella her eyes were stuck on Edward where they all sat. Personally my cousin was getting a little stalkerish.
"Ooh you have to make some of your bbq tofu chicken those things are amazing." Angela said making me nod.
"Yeah plus they're healthy." Jessica said in agreement.
We all nodded, turning to look at Bella.
"La Push baby." Eric said drawing it out, nudging her. "La Push."
"Okay I'll go if you stop saying that." Bella told him.
We laughed at her.
Bella got up heading off to make herself a salad, leaving the rest of us to talk details. Everyone telling me what they wanted to eat, making lists. The plan was I would drive Bella and myself down and Tyler would take everyone else.
I was down there every other weekend and the drive down was beautiful.
I saw Edward getting up from his table and made his way over towards Bella. I stared at them, glancing over at the other Cullen's, they were staring at them too. We shared a look.
They drew more than just our attention, everyone was watching them now.
Sighing I shared a look with Jazz and Quinn and went back to my lunch bowing my head.
---------------
Friday I went shopping and bought all the fixings everyone asked me to bring and spent all day cooking and getting it ready.
Finally the big day was here Saturday had rolled around pretty quickly.
Since it was Saturday I took my time getting out of bed, it was the weekend. Turning off my alarm I cuddled with my kitty for at least five more minutes before pushing myself out of bed and shuffled over to my closet.
I glanced over at my window seeing thick clouds covering the sky giving it a grey look, it wasn't raining but wasn't sunny either. Hopefully it would be warmer later I decided to wear something I could take off.
"So much for good weather." I mumbled turning back to closet.
Getting dressed I tugged on a pretty swim top and dark shorts and pulled on a purple hooded sweatshirt and pair of dark jeans and my dark purple tennis shoes.
I grabbed my bag and grabbed a hair tye off my desk as I passed, heading out the door.
Tying my hair up into a long ponytail I walked down the hall hearing the shower going and headed downstairs.
While waiting for Bella to come down, I fixed myself a quick breakfast smoothie and made breakfast with Charlie.
Charlie came padding into the kitchen, looking tired just as I sat a plate of eggs, ham and toast in his spot and made sure his coffee and paper was in place.
"Honey you didn't have to do this, it's Saturday" He told me sleepily. "Aren't you and Bella are going to La push today?"
"Yeah but I don't mind making you breakfast." I told him watching Bella come down the stairs. "It only takes a few minutes and you've been working a lot, you need it."
He gave me a tired smile.
"Thank you."
I smiled at him, turning to Bella.
"You ready to go?" I asked grabbing my keys and grabbed a couple of bags.
"Yup."Â She said nodding, looking at everything I had. "You want some help?"
"You can grab the cooler." I told her gesturing to the blue and white cooler by the door. She nodded walking over to it.
I gave Charlie a kiss on the cheek and headed out the door, loading up the jeep.
---
It took us a while to get loaded up and on the road, pulling into the parking lot of the beach.
While I drove the air had grown colder and the sky was getting darker. I had a feeling there wouldn't be much swimming or anything water related. When I arrived I parked next to Tyler's van which was undented and safe.
Climbing out everyone was here.
"Hey you made it." Mike greeted my cousin happily.
"I said I would." Bella said smiling weakly.
----
Later that day we were at the beach like planned, it was freezing so barely anyone was here. Angela was sitting in the Tyler's van which was safe now. Bella sat with her.
"So much for sunny weather." I said glancing up at the sky.
Mike, Eric, and Jessica got suited up while Tyler and Jazz had finished first and headed out with their boards.
"Yeah I don't know if it's worth it anymore." Eric said complaining.
"We didn't drive all the way out here for nothing." Jessica told him, stepping into her wetsuit.
I wondered out and stopped by a line of rocks, breathing in the fresh air, removing my shoes and rolled up my pant legs, wadding in the water a little. It was a little cold but it felt nice.
Quinn was walking down the shore line watching her brother stand up on a surf board or attempting too. Bella was hanging out with Angela, they stopped along side me, Angela was taking pictures.
"I keep thinking Eric's going to ask me to prom." Angela said making me look at her. "Then he just doesn't."
"You should ask him." I told her smiling. "You know Eric, his mind is always overflowing... but I'm sure if you ask him and take control he's bound to say yes, you're a strong and independent woman."
"I am?"
"Of course you are." I told her.
She smiled at me.
"Thanks Lena."
"Lena! Bella!" A voice called.
I looked over seeing Jacob trailing beside was Sam and Embry. I noticed Sam he looked a little off but I shook it off and smiled wide, meeting them half way and hugged Jacob.
Pulling back I hugged Em and Sam too before turning back to Bella and Angela.
"Guys this is Jacob Black, Sam Uley and Embry Call" I told the gang gesturing to the three. "They're friends of mine."
"Are you stalking me?" Bella asked looking at Jacob.
"You're on my Rez remember and Elena invited us." Jake said making me roll my eyes but smiled lightly.
"Actually I invited Sam, Leah, Em and Paul but whatever" I retorted earning a look from Jake. I smirked and looked at Sam. "So where are my two other friends. No Jared or Quil either?"
Jake rolled his eyes but I ignored him.
"Quil has to help his grandpa." Embry told me making me nod.
"Sue got called into work so Leah has to watch Seth, Jared was going to come but his mom said no until he cleaned his room you know how long that'll take."
Sam and Em grinned.
I smirked nodding in thought of my friend and looked at Sam more firmly. He understood what I was asking
"Paul..." Sam told me giving me a look I understood. "He said he was sorry he couldn't make it "
Sam and I were the only ones who knew Paul's father was an alcoholic and a mean one.
"Are Leah and Seth still fighting?" I asked changing the topic.
He nodded making me sigh.
"She could have just brought him with her, it's not like we're doing anything he couldn't do."
"Well you know her." Sam said making me nod.
"You surfing?" Jake asked turning back to Bella.
"Definitely not." Bella deadpanned.
"It's not that cold." I retorted earning a look.
"Keep her company." Jessica said teasingly. "Her date bailed."
"Wait what?" I said turning to Bella. "What date?"
"She invited Edward." Jessica said snickering.
I stared at her.
"To be polite." Bella said embarrassingly looking away from my intense look.
"I think it's nice." Angela said defending Bella. "No one ever does."
"Because Cullen's a freak." Mike said in disgust.
"You got that right." Sam said causing everyone to look at him.
"You know them?" Bella asked catching what he said.
"The Cullen's don't come here." Sam told her sharply, his voice was so deep and cold.
I stared at him hearing the tone in his voice. He was acting a little strangely, his few words sort of killed the vibe and the conversation. Jacob didn't understand what Sam was saying, he shot Sam a look, shaking his head and stared at his feet for a minute.
I noticed the guys working on building a bonfire and headed over to help them, trying to get away from the tension.
I had Eric bring over a fold out table for me and sat it nearby while I carried over some tote bags.
"Girl please tell me you brought good stuff?" Eric asked.
I pulled some food trays from my bags and random bowls setting them on the table, perfectly.
There were Bacon cheeseburgers, Hawiian chicken kebabs, Turkey sandwiches, BBQ Tofu chicken, potato salad and chips and some cookies I made.
Tyler and Mike brought over my ice chest full of different drinks.
"I brought everything you guys asked for and more." I told him earning a grin. "There's plenty for everyone and we got s'more stuff too."
---
Everyone grabbed whatever they wanted and soon we were sitting around the bonfire. The fire warmed the air a little bit, it wasn't raining yet, and it was just the perfect way to end the day.
Jake sat in the middle between Bella and I just staring at the flames of the fire.
"So, are you enjoying living here so far?" Jacob asked looking at Bella.
"In a way I do." Bella told him. "Not really a fan of the rain.... or the cold."
Jacob nodded.
I noticed Angela staring at Eric and grinned a little.
"Well, I'm gonna take a walk." I muttered pushing myself up. "Need to walk off all the tofu chicken I ate."
"Sounds good, I'll join you." Bella said getting up with me.
Jacob got up with us and we walked away from the group for a few minutes.
The three of us walked down the beach, Jake was on one side of me and Bella on the other, I just stared out at the water.
"Lena, what did your friend mean about the Cullen's not coming here?" Bella asked looking over at me.
"So you did catch that huh?" I asked sighing. "Sam can be sharp tongued sometimes, he doesn't mean nothing by it. Technically he wasn't supposed to say anything."
"Yeah, and I'm for sure not supposed to." Jake added.
"I can keep a secret..." Bella said looking at me innocently.
"It's just an old story Bella." I told her. "Something the elders would tell around the campfires."
"You know it?" She asked.
I nodded.
"The Lovelace family have close connections with the tribe, we're like honorary members." I told her shrugging, earning a look. "Dad was really good friends with Billy." I frowned a little thinking of Dad.
Bella saw the look on my face and her eyes softened, nodding.
"Okay and?"
"Did you know Quileute's are supposedly descended from wolves?" Jake asked making me look at him.
"Like fur, fangs.... doggy breath?" Bella asked.
I just stayed quiet.
Jacob chuckled making me smile at him.
"So, the legend about the Cullen's is?"
"Well, they're supposedly descended from this, like enemy clan...but they claimed to be different, so we made a treaty with them."
The Lovelace family was there too but only certain people knew about that. My Grams and her sister Elise were both there.
Elise was married to Yaha Uta which was many, many years go before we were born, she was a healer and an important member of the tribe. Grams was there beside her sister when the attack against the tribe happened. They both made sure our family stayed neutral. While the Lovelace has close connections with the tribe we are close with the Cullen's too. We will never turn our backs on either sides.
It was kind of amazing when you think about how our families are tied into each other.
"Didn't they just move here?" Bella asked looking at me. I looked away.
"Or just moved back." Jacob said not noticing me.
"Riiiight." Bella said drawing it out. "So, what was this treaty?"
"If they promised to stay off Quileute lands." Jacob said whispering. "We wouldn't expose what they really were to the pale-faces...."
He paused for a minute dramatically, Bella just stared at him until we heard a scream.
My head whipped up seeing Angela running past being chased by Eric waving a long rope screaming snake. It made Bella jump nearly a step off the ground. I grinned.
We started heading back.
"Wait..." Bella said stopping us. "What were they really?"
"It's just a story Bells." I told her shoving a laughing Jacob playfully. "Jake's just messing around."
Jacob just laughed some more. We headed back.
"You're such a brat." I told him earning more laughing.
"You know you love me." Was all he said.
"With all the stuff I put up with cause of you boys." I retorted grinning. "Sometimes I wonder "
He smiled at my joke.
Bella trailed behind us, obviously thinking about what Jacob said.
I know that there was no way to stop Bella from learning the secrets, if it really was her fate to be intertwined with Edward. All witches know we cannot mess with fate, or at least that's what Dad said.
I lost my parents because of a couple nomad vampires and I trust the Cullen's but I didn't want to lose my cousin.
---
Jacob and I continued making small talk until I felt a drop of water and looked up seeing the clouds forming.
I saw the gang starting to pack up and turned to Bella, she was staring into space.
"It's gonna rain we should head back." I told her earning a nod, I turned back to Jacob.
"Guess I'll see you this weekend?" He asked pulling me into a hug.
"I'm hanging out with Leah Saturday." I told him pulling back. "I bet she's ready to tear Seth apart by now."
A large smile was on his face nodding.
I gave him another hug before pulling back and headed to the van, I made sure to give Sam and Embry their goodbyes too.
I was a little disappointed my other friends didn't show up, especially Paul but I shook it off.
---
When we got back into Forks, we were dropped off at the house.
Bella stayed silent the entire time, even when we got home. Charlie was waiting for us watching TV when we walked in the door.
Bella went upstairs without a second of being in the door making me sigh, I hung my coat up and moved into the kitchen.
"Hey you girls have a good time?" Charlie asked.
"yeah it was fun." I told him smiling.
I sat my tote bags on the table and started putting away whatever was left from the snacks I made and microwaved a plate for Charlie.
While the food warmed, I washed dishes and made sure things were cleaned up before grabbing the plate and walked into the living room.
"Here saved some for you." I told him joining my uncle. "I'm sure you haven't had dinner yet."
Charlie took it with a smile.
"Thank you honey."
He dug into the food, I sat down beside him and watched Tv, hanging out with him until bedtime.
Once my uncle had finished his meal, I washed his plate and headed into my bedroom.
Soon as I was in my room I quickly changed out of my wet clothes and got dressed in something more warm and comfy and grabbed a book from my hidden spot in my closet. It was similar to the spell book but this was filled with notes, the cover was a little worn and old looking
Sam acted strange tonight, he was normally sharp tongue sometimes but he was never that bad.
I knew that which families the wolf line ran through and Sam's was one of them. The way he spoke, his face and strange aura.
I grabbed the book and sat down on my bed, laying against the pillow and flipped pages, finding the one I was looking for.
'A Quileute will shift when there's a vampire nearby, first they will encounter a strange change in behavoir-'
The notes great aunt Elise wrote was very detailed. She wrote this while living among them for a really long time she gave it to Dad when he got his healing gift.
I studied late into the night trying to learn everything I could and found a potion Dad would use to help a shifter work through it's first time but the downside was it could only be used once.
By the time I had finished writing down the ingredients it was one in the morning, I didn't even realize the time had gone by.
Sighing I decided to put this on hold until later and closed the journal setting it on the side table and cuddled under my comforter, snuggling up to my kitty. She was always my favorite cuddle buddy. I stared out the window.
