Chapter 178

Pampered By Power: The True Heiress Returns

Chapter 178 Hearing this, their eyes brightened, and they quickly led the way upstairs to the second–floor bedroom. From afar, they could already hear a woman softly humming a lullaby.

The worry on Edward’s face lessened noticeably, and his tone became gentle. “This is a lullaby that Quinita used to sing to Evelyn when she was little. Ever since Evelyn... left, Quinita hums it every night.”

As they approached the door, he motioned for silence. “Arcanum Master, when we go in, try not to be startled or make any loud noises. We don’t want to disturb her.”

Elysia nodded, “Don’t worry.”

With Elysia’s reassurance, Edward finally grasped the doorknob and slowly pressed it down, opening the door gingerly. Every movement was cautious, as if he feared even the slightest sound might disrupt the scene within.

Elysia stepped inside and saw a woman lying on the bed. Her face was beautiful, betraying no signs of being the mother of multiple children.

She held a cloth doll in her arms, gently patting its back while humming a lullaby. Her actions and expressions were filled with tenderness.

Noticing Elysia’s presence, Quinita looked up and whispered, “Shhh! Don’t make any noise, Evelyn is sleeping.”

Turning her attention back to the doll, she continued...

here...”

its back gently and murmured, “Evelyn, sweetie... Mommy is The affection on Quinita’s face stirred something within Elysia, making her chest tighten with an inexplicable pain.

“Are you okay?” Quinita asked, noticing Elysia clutching her chest.

Elysia shook her head, her usually cool voice softening slightly. “I’m fine.”

Seeing Elysia’s response, Quinita carefully sat up and took her by the hand, guiding her to sit on the edge of the bed. “You est for a bit?” look tired. Why don’t you Elysia’s expression shifted slightly behind her mask as she looked at Quinita beside her, feeling the warmth of her touch.

The pain in her chest resurfaced, but this time, she didn’t clutch her chest and instead endured it.

“Why do you wear a mask?” Quinita asked, her hand reaching up to touch Elysia’s mask. Her fingers traced the mask’s contours with a gentle gaze.

“With the mask on, no one knows who I am,” Elysia responded flatly.

Quinita didn’t quite understand but was about to ask more when Elysia grabbed her hand and checked her pulse. Everything seemed normal.

Meanwhile, Fabian rushed back home from the company as soon as he heard the news. He headed straight to the bedroom on the second floor.

Seeing the two people waiting at the door, his expression tightened. “How is it?”

“They’re still inside. We don’t know the specifics yet,” Javier replied, placing a hand on Fabian’s shoulder, his grip firm. “Don’t 1/3 16:58 Mon, 17 Feb M Chapter 178 worry.”

Fabian glanced back at the closed door, feeling an indescribable sensation. He didn’t know what awaited them once that door opened.

He wondered, ‘Will Mother be cured? Or will she remain as she is now, lost and confused?

The door opened a crack, and Elysia walked out before gently closing it behind her.

Several men quickly stepped forward. As they approached, Fabian couldn’t help but frown. He scrutinized Elysia closely.

Elysia felt uncomfortable under his intense gaze and quickly looked away.

“Arcanum Master, how is my wife? Edward asked, his face filled with worry.

Noticing his concern, Elysia lowered her voice. “She’s asleep. Let’s talk downstairs.”

Edward nodded hurriedly, “Of course, Arcanum Master, this way please.

Elysia walked ahead while Edward and Javier flanked her on either side.

Fabian didn’t follow immediately. He stood there, somewhat dazed, watching her retreating figure.

As he had gotten close to her earlier, he caught a whiff of her floral scent.

11 At first, he was hesitant, but upon seeing her silhouette, he became almost certain that this Arcanum Master was the young girl he had met in Sivro – Elysia.

He thought, ‘But how could someone her age be the Owner of Arcanum House?

And the way she handled things at dinner, so decisive and formidable, it was quite like me. He couldn’t help but smirk as he followed behind them.

In the living room downstairs, Elysia sat on one side of the couch and began to speak slowly, “Mrs. Evans’s body is fine, but I can’t cure the illness in her heart.”

Hearing this, everyone’s faces turned grim. They had anticipated this outcome.

Elysia noticed their somber expressions, so she took out a ceramic bottle from her sleeve and placed it on the table. “This contains some calming herbs. They can help Mrs. Evans relax and temporarily ease her symptoms.”

She added, “For the illness in her heart, the cure often lies within the heart itself. This medicine might not necessarily be a person. Encourage Mrs. Evans to accept reality. If she’s willing to come to terms with things, her illness will naturally improve.

Javier looked up at her upon hearing this. He had considered this method before but felt it was too cruel for his mother.

Seeing them remain silent, Elysia continued, “Tomorrow morning, I’ll check Mrs. Evans’s pulse one more time. If there’s no change, I’ll return to Sivro.”

Fabian spoke up, his voice low, “Arcanum Master, you came here for the Evans family. There’s no need to rush back. Why not stay a bit longer so we can properly express our gratitude?”

“No need,” Elysia said firmly, her tone distant.

Elysia had a sense of unease, as if things were slipping out of her control.

Fabian asked, “Are you sure you don’t want to reconsider? Jorlandia has countless beautiful sights. If you stay a few more days, I could show you around and help you unwind”

+13 Thank you for the offer, Mr. Evans,” Elysia replied, “but since I came here in a hurry, I’ll take a rain check on the sightseeing for now, Javier was puzzled. His usually taciturn elder brother seemed unusually chatty today and even keen on persuading someone to stay.

Seeing he couldn’t convince her, Fabian nodded, “Very well then, I won’t insist.”

At that moment, the butler entered and respectfully said, “Sir, Mr. Fabian Evans, Mr. Javier Evans, the guest room is ready.”

As he finished speaking, he glanced briefly at Elysia sitting on the couch. A flash of hostility crossed his eyes before he quickly looked away.

Internally fuming, he thought, ‘So, she finally came.

Elysia noticed the butler as well. Her peripheral vision caught his delicate features–his face seemed kind yet exuded a sense of menace.

She couldn’t help but wonder, “Why show such hostility when we’ve just met for the first time?‘
