Pampered By Power: The True Heiress Returns

Chapter 179 Chapter 179 Σ Though puzzled, Elysia suppressed her doubts.

“Arcanum Master, you’ve had a long day. I’ll have a servant take you to your room to rest early,” Edward said.

Elysia nodded slightly, “Alright.”

The maid escorted Elysia to the guest room and then left.

She removed her mask and placed it on a nearby table. After freshening up, she lay down on the large bed and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

That night, she slept exceptionally well.

The next morning, after getting ready, Elysia went to Quinita’s room.

Gently pushing the door open, she saw that the person inside was still asleep. She carefully walked to the bedside and was about to check her pulse when she noticed the photo Quinita was holding.

Elysia’s eyes lingered on the photo. After a moment’s hesitation, she impulsively reached out to take it.

Her movements were light, fearing that Quinita would wake up at any moment.

Fortunately, everything went smoothly. Quinita loosened her grip as soon as Elysia touched the photo. Feeling pleased, Elysia’s confidence shattered as the photo flipped over.

The girl in the photo looked just like her at fifteen.

But upon closer inspection, Elysia realized she had been mistaken. Though the girl bore a striking resemblance to her, she was pale and frail–looking–definitely not her.

Thinking of Evelyn, Elysia suddenly understood. No wonder Holden mentioned she looked like his sister. The resemblance was uncanny enough that she nearly mistook the girl for herself.

She reached for her mask, her eyes locked on the face in the photograph. She thought, ‘If she were healthy and not so pale, would we look exactly the same?

‘But how could there be two people who look exactly alike? Unless they’re twins.

Thinking this, a sharp pain surged in Elysia’s chest, even more intense than before. She clutched her chest and sank to the floor, thinking, ‘What is going on?‘

Years ago, Bella came to Jorlandia to give birth, and the Evans family was in Jorlandia as well. If Evelyn were alive, she would be eighteen, just like her.

A sudden realization made her eyes widen. Fighting through the chest pain, she stood up, placed the photo back in Quinita’s arms, and prepared to leave.

Fabian, who had witnessed everything from outside, quickly hid in another room.

Leaning against the door, he tried to recall everything he’d just seen–Elysia’s reaction to the photo, her reaching for her mask, and then clutching her chest.

16:58 Mon, 17 Feb Chapter 179 He thought, ‘If I’m not mistaken, she saw herself in that photo But seeing her in such pain made his heart ache.

He couldn’t wait any longer, not for one more second. No matter what the truth of the past was, all he warned tone was to quickly verify everything and bring her back.

Though they hadn’t done a paternity test yet, in his heart, Fabian was almost certain that Elysia was his sister–the duld they had thought had died all those years ago.

He opened the door and headed towards Elysia’s guest room. Seizing a moment when no one was around, be exered the room and began searching the bed but couldn’t find a single hair.

His gaze then shifted to the vanity table, but still, nothing.

Just as he was about to give up, he spotted a hair strand near the pillow. His face lit up as he picked it up, noting it had a follicle attached.

Initially, he thought he’d have to pluck a hair straight from Elysia’s head but now it seemed like he wouldn’t have to after all Down in the living room, Elysia was saying her goodbyes to Edward and his sons. Fabian quickened his pace and reached them in just a few strides.

He looked at Elysia, momentarily lost for words. He thought, ‘Forget it, We’ll meet again soon.”

Javier found it increasingly odd. He thought, ‘Is Fabian really here to see her off? Why isn’t he saying anything?

Thinking this, he nudged Fabian and leaned in to whisper, “The Arcanum Master is leaving, aren’t you going to say something?”

Fabian raised his eyebrows, opened his mouth but ultimately said nothing. He kept reminding himself. It’s fine. We’ll see each other again soon.”

Leaving the Evans residence, Elysia took out her phone and dialed Yuna.

“Boss,” Yuna greeted.

“How’s the progress?” Elysia asked.

“The funds traced back to Scott came from a private account. The person behind it is very cautious, making it difficult to find any loopholes.”

“Alright, I’ll send you an address. Come pick me up.”

“OK.”

Not long after Elysia sent the address, a black sedan appeared in front of her. She opened the door and got in. Yuna glanced back at her and quietly inquired, “Boss, when did you arrive in Jorlandia?”

“Yesterday,” Elysia replied. “There’s something else–have you checked the hospital where Bella gave birth and who else delivered on the same day?”

“I have,” Yuna answered.

“Was the Evans family among them?” Elysia pressed.

Yuna could remember so clearly not just because of this but also due to the Evans family’s influential status–they were hard to overlook among those who gave birth that day.

Elysia’s eyes narrowed slightly. She instructed, “Put the investigation into the mastermind on hold. Focus instead on the births in the Evans and Rosewood families. Dig up everything you can.”

“Yes, Boss,” Yuna responded.

Elysia nodded, then added, “Head to the paternity test center now.”

She clutched the sealed bag containing the hairs. Just as she was about to step out of the room earlier, she had returned to pluck a hair from Quinita.

She needed to know if her suspicions were correct–a test would confirm it.

Upon arriving at the paternity test center, Elysia removed her mask and asked Yuna to wait outside before walking in alone. She handed the hair to a nurse and said directly, “Urgent.”

The nurse, who hadn’t yet fully processed the young girl’s familiarity with the paternity test procedure, noted that it wasn’t her first time.

This familiarity garnered some pity from the nurse who looked up at Elysia with sympathy in her eyes.

Elysia felt uncomfortable under the nurse’s sympathetic gaze. Just as she was about to speak, another nurse nudged the first one, snapping her out of it. “Sorry, miss,” the nurse said hastily.

After paying the fee, Elysia sat on a nearby bench, quietly waiting for the results.

Time ticked by slowly. After about five hours, the nurse’s voice finally echoed down the long corridor. “Miss, the results are ready.”

Elysia quickly stood and walked over. The nurse handed her the report.

Just like last time, Elysia didn’t open it right away. She walked over to a corner, sat down, and carefully unfolded the report Her eyes went straight to the conclusion at the bottom.

Quinita’s genetic markers matched those identified as Elysia’s biological maternal lineage.
