Emma was about to say something, but Bella stopped her right away. Emma looked at Bella, totally confused.

Emma wondered, ‘Why doesn’t she want me to say who I am? Is she ashamed of me? Does she think of me as just some illegitimate kid who couldn’t be shown in public?‘

When that thought popped into her head, Emma’s anger at Bella grew even more.

Ignoring Bella, Emma just said, “Berenger, Odalyn, I’m your real niece. Elysia is just a poor girl who doesn’t even know who her parents are!”

As soon as she said that, everyone was shocked. “Emma, what do you mean?” Odalyn looked at Emma, not getting what she was saying at all.

Odalyn raced, ‘Isn’t Emma the girl Bella adopted from the orphanage? How could she now say she is our real niece? Could it be that Emma is actually Bella’s own daughter?‘

Bella’s face darkened. She thought Emma was getting more and more disobedient. Emma never used to act like this.

Bella complained in her heart, ‘Why is she being so dumb? Does she really think being an illegitimate child is a good thing?

‘How could she want to be known as that and not be worried about people making fun of her?‘

Bella had thought she could get through this and stay at the Jackson residence for a while. Having a place to stay was better than nothing. But Emma ruined her plan.

Now, even if Bella stayed, Odalyn would look down on her. Everyone would know that Bella got kicked out by her husband because she didn’t act right, and she had no choice but to come back to her brother’s house.

Even if no one talked about it, Bella bet that Odalyn would still look down on her. Odalyn was never a fan of Bella, and now Bella just couldn’t face her.

Bella really regretted bringing Emma back; she would have left Emma in the orphanage and let her figure things out on her own.

“Bella, is what Emma said true?” Berenger asked. Bella couldn’t hide it anymore and nodded. “Yes, it’s true.”

Berenger’s face got even more serious. “So, you planned all this from the start, and Scott kicked you out because of this?”

“Yes, but I had my reasons.”

Hearing this, Berenger glanced at Logan, who was sitting nearby, and said firmly, “Logan, take Emma for a walk in the yard.”

Logan knew Berenger wanted them out of the way. Even though Logan didn’t want to stay with Emma, he nodded.

Then he looked at Emma and said, “Let’s go! What are you just standing there for?”

Emma wasn’t happy with Logan’s attitude, but this wasn’t the time to get mad, so she just followed him out of the living room.

Once they were outside, Berenger finally asked, “Bella, who is Emma’s father?” He kind of had an idea, but he didn’t want to believe it because the truth was really hard to take.

Bella wiped the tears off her face and got the courage to say, “Do you remember what happened back then?”

Hearing that, Berenger understood everything, just like he was afraid of. He glared at Bella, too frustrated to even speak. “I can’t believe you! How could you be so stupid!”

Berenger sighed, helplessly, “Didn’t I tell you back then not to keep the child? And now look at you! You secretly brought her back. I knew something was wrong at the time, you...”

His words stopped. He knew there was no point of yelling at her now.

Bella cried, “At first, I really didn’t want to bring her back. Every time I saw her, I thought of that bad thing. But after Scott and I lost our baby, do you know how much I wanted a child?

“I was so sad, always feeling like God was punishing me, not letting me be a mom. I was really down for a long time, and then I thought of Emma in the orphanage. That’s when I decided to bring her back.

“All these years, I always thought of her as the baby we lost, and I gave her all the love I would have given to that child.”

Bella laughed coldly, her eyes looking a bit empty. “Then Scott told me that our daughter was still alive, that she didn’t die. I was just really surprised at that time.

“All these years, I loved Emma so much that I thought losing that child was the start of my bad times, and I saw Emma as my child with Scott.

“So, from the first time I saw Elysia, I just didn’t like her. How could I even act nice to her?”

Bella’s words made Odalyn shocked. She didn’t know everything, but she was sure that when Elysia was with the Rosewood family, she must have gotten a lot of mean looks from Bella.

Odalyn’s face looked even worse, and she suddenly felt glad that Elysia wasn’t Bella’s real daughter. If she was, Elysia would suffer far more than this.

Berenger frowned, feeling worried. Even though he didn’t like Scott’s attitude, Bella was really wrong this time.

The only thing Berenger could do now was to let Bella and Emma stay for a while, and deal with everything else later.

Just then, Logan and Emma walked in. Berenger’s face got serious. “Logan, take Emma to her room.”

“Okay,” Logan said, and casually led Emma to a room on the second floor, on the west side. “You’ll stay here,” he said coldly to Emma.

Emma opened the door and looked at the plain–looking guest room, and frowned a little.

Before, whenever Emma visited the Jackson residence, she stayed in a guest room. Back then she was just the adopted daughter, so she understood they were kind of cold to her.

But now, they had known that she as Bella’s real daughter, they were still giving her a guest room.

“Can I look at the other rooms?” Emma asked, looking innocent.

Logan’s brow furrowed a bit. “You don’t like this one?”

“No. I just want to see the other rooms-”

Emma didn’t finish when Logan interrupted her, sounding a little impatient. “Whatever, pick any room you want.”

Hearing that, Emma smiled big, “Thanks, Logan.” She happily went to look at all the rooms, but after checking them all, she still wasn’t happy.

Her eyes landed on the room at the east end of the hallway.

Just as she was about to open the door, Logan stopped her. “Not this one.”
