Chapter 208

Pampered By Power: The True Heiress Returns

Chapter 208 Elysia looked at Logan with amusement and teased, “Were you really that scared?”

Logan said, “Of course I was! I was so worried I’d say something wrong by accident. I can’t even imagine getting my head bashed in!”

Hearing this, Elysia patted his shoulder to comfort him. “Don’t worry. They are really nice. They won’t just smash your head for something small.”

“Elysia, you really have to protect me.”

“You’re my cousin. I wouldn’t let you get hurt. Relax, they aren’t as scary as you think,” she said.

Then, as if she remembered something, she asked, “By the way, why did you suddenly come to Sivro?”

Logan answered, not sounding too happy, “I’m worried about you. I had to see with my own eyes that you’re okay to really feel at ease. Plus, my mom is really worried about you too. I’m here because she told me to come.”

The smile on Elysia’s face slowly faded, and her gaze softened a bit. “How’s your mother?”

“As long as you’re okay, she’s okay. Sometimes I think you’re more like her real daughter than I am, with how differently she treats us.”

“Are you jealous?”

“No.”

“So what you said earlier wasn’t because you were jealous?”

“I told you, there’s nothing to it.” Logan turned his head away, while Elysia looked at him, amused. It was obvious he was jealous, but he just wouldn’t admit it.

Scott had just gotten a notice that the government was taking the land in the northern part of the city.

Before he could even think things through, he got a call from the finance department saying the IRS was coming to the company for an audit.

Scott tried to stay calm. After giving a few quick orders to the finance team, he rushed to the company, only to find the IRS agents had already left.

Feeling uneasy, Scott thought it was too convenient–from the government taking the land to the IRS audit. It didn’t seem like a coincidence; it felt like it was all planned from the start.

Frowning deeply, he carefully thought about recent events and finally realized where the problem was. Fabian had been bidding against him for the same piece of land.

At first, he thought Fabian saw the land’s potential and wanted to cut off his money–making ways.

But now it seemed Fabian had known all along that the government was going to seize that land.

Fabian deliberately raised the bidding price, forcing him to buy it at a high price, and then reported him to the tax authorities.

Now, all the company’s money was tied up in this land, and paying the taxes wasn’t going to be easy.

But Scott couldn’t just do nothing. The most important thing now was to get money to pay the taxes. With that in mind, he quickly took out his phone and started calling some friends he usually got along with.

But after making several calls, he found they were either on another call or just didn’t pick up. When someone finally did answer, they flat–out refused him, not giving him any room to bargain.

Scott’s hope slowly disappeared. Having been in the business world for years, if he couldn’t tell he was in a trap now, he’d really be stupid.

Since Fabian had planned all this, he must have blocked all of Scott’s ways out. No one would dare to help Scott now.

A flash of anger crossed Scott’s eyes. After thinking for a long time, he finally called Fabian. Even if there was only a tiny bit of hope, he had to give it his all.

Now, besides hoping Fabian would be kind, there was no one else he could ask for help.

But the phone just kept ringing with no answer. Just when he was about to give up, a “beep” sound gave him a little hope again.

In a begging voice, he said, “Mr. Evans, I know I was wrong. Please, be nice and let me go. I’m begging you.”

Fabian just said lightly, “Begging me won’t work. You should have thought of this outcome when you did those things.”

Hearing this, the last bit of hope in Scott’s eyes disappeared. He laughed crazily, “Mr. Evans, you really lives up to your name.

Not only are your methods ruthless, but your plan is the best, right?

“You set me up to buy that land in the northern district at a high price, and then reported me to the tax office. Fine, that’s one thing.

“But you also made sure my friends wouldn’t help me, pushing me into a corner. Your scheming is really something!

“Aren’t you afraid that one day you’ll be in a situation you can’t get out of?”

Hearing Scott’s crazy voice, Fabian slightly furrowed his eyebrows.

It only took a moment before he relaxed, and a smirk appeared on his lips as he taunted, “I wonder if you will live long enough to see that.”

Scott was so angry at those words that he clenched his teeth. Fabian was cursing him.

“Scott, I appreciate your strange compliment, but I’m not the one who reported you to the IRS, and as for the one behind all this, it has nothing to do with me.”

Scott’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. His mind raced, ‘What did he mean by that? If it wasn’t he, then who could it be? Could it be Elysia or Zane?‘

He closed his eyes and shook his head a little, thinking, ‘It couldn’t be Elysia. She is just a young girl.

‘Even if she had shown up at the Rosewood residence that night with a group of people and made a big scene, she must have been relying on the Evans family’s power. How could someone so young have such skills?”

Then it had to be Zane. He was close to Elysia, so it made sense that he would help her.

With no sound from the other end of the phone, Fabian hung up directly. Scott just sat there, stunned, not reacting at all.

The two big shots in the business world teamed up to take him down. Scott laughed coldly to himself. It was over for him.

Even if it was just one of them going after him, he might not be able to get away unhurt, let alone both. He didn’t know what he did to make two such powerful people work together against him.

Scott ran his fingers through his neatly combed hair, making it a mess. His eyes turned red, and the veins on his temples stuck out, making him look kind of scary.

Suddenly, a name came to his mind. In times like these, there was probably only one person brave enough to help him.

Thinking about it, he immediately picked up his phone and dialed the number. After two rings, the call was answered, and a bit of relief showed on his face.

Scott begged, “Mr. Ludwig, this is Scott. I’m in a bit of trouble and need your help.”

Dennis Ludwig’s lazy voice came through the receiver. “Scott, I’ve heard about your situation. It’s clear someone’s plotting against you! There’s nothing I can do.”

“No, please, Mr. Ludwig. If even you can’t help, then really, no one can.”
