Chapter 235

Pampered By Power: The True Heiress Returns

Chapter 235 Fabian reached out to take the wooden bucket from Elysia’s hands. Javier, noticing this, lifted the spear from her shoulder. With one hand tucked into his pocket and the other holding the spear, he moved with a casual confidence.

What had once been in Elysia’s grasp was now easily transferred to them, leaving her momentarily in a daze. She quickly regained her composure, saying, “This is my childhood friend, Phoebe.”

The group nodded in acknowledgment. Jack, however, remained in the shadows, watching everything with keen interest. It was clear that the members of the Evans family were very different from the chaotic Rosewood family; they genuinely cared for Elysia.

If Elysia decided to return to the Evans family, they would definitely treat her well. Yet whether Elysia would choose to return was not for Jack to decide.

With a deep sigh, he turned and made his way to the courtyard. Just as he entered the gate, he spotted Max rummaging around.

Jack furrowed his brow, ready to speak, but was interrupted by Leo’s appearance. Leo asked, “Max, what are you looking for?”

Max said, “Isn’t it obvious? I’m looking for our guests.”

“Why are you digging through the bushes for them? They wouldn’t fit there anyway. Honestly, you have muscles but no brains.”

Max, taken aback by the comment, shot back, “Who exactly are you calling no brains?”

Leo saw Jack at the entrance. He hurried over. “Jack, I heard we have guests; where did they go?”

Hearing this, Max’s anger lessened significantly and he approached Jack. “I’ve searched even in the bushes, but I can’t find them.”

Jack stood with his arms crossed and a serious expression. “The Evans family has arrived; they just went to the riverbank to watch Elysia catch fish. They should be back soon.”

“The Evans family?” Leo’s brow furrowed in concern. “How did they find this place? I need to confront them; I can’t let them take Elysia away.”

With that statement, he started to head for the door but paused after taking a few steps and turned to Max, waving him over.

“Max, what are you waiting for? Come with me.” Having Max along would definitely help for a confrontation.

Max nodded in agreement. “Coming.”

He barely moved when Jack called out, “Stop.”

Jack stepped in front of Leo, his frown deepening. “Is your idea of chaos not enough yet? Remember, the Evans family related to Elysia. If you beat them, it would put her in an uncomfortable situation.”

He added, “Besides, if Elysia wants to recognize them, that’s a good thing; we should be happy for her.”

Leo pouted and countered, “I get your point, but Elysia doesn’t want to recognize them.”

Jack said, “If Elysia truly doesn’t want that, then no one can force her. I won’t allow her to be taken away.”

Leo nodded. Jack shot him a glance. It was well–known that Leo had never been the most agreeable family member. Always looking for fights or drama, he seemed to be getting unruly with age.

Chapter 235 Jack walked ahead, hands clasped behind his back, with Leo trailing closely behind, appearing more submissive.

At that moment, the others returned with the wooden bucket. Hearing the commotion, Leo and Max turned to look Their gazes fell on several striking young men, but just as Leo opened his mouth to speak, Jack cleared his throat beside him, giving him a pointed look that made his words disappear.

Elysia sensed the tension in the air, particularly noticing Leo’s frustrated expression. She wondered. What has happened?

She asked, “Leo, what’s wrong?”

“He’s fine; don’t worry about him,” Jack replied.

Phoebe, feeling the rising tension, quickly took Elysia’s hand and seized the bucket from Fabian, saying, “Elysia and I will head to the kitchen to prepare the fish.

Before they could protest, she hurriedly pulled Elysia towards the kitchen. Holden scratched his head, sensing the unusual atmosphere. Something felt off–it would be best to excuse himself. So he turned to the others and said, ‘Ill see if I can help out.”

He rushed after the two girls.

A moment of silence hung in the air as eyes met, until Jack finally broke the stillness. “Please, come sit; dinner will be ready shortly.”

Upon hearing this, Fabian and Javier approached sheepishly. They took seats around the stone table, but the atmosphere was thick with tension. Jack said to Leo, “Fetch us coffee.”

Reluctantly, Leo began to leave. Jack turned to Fabian and said, “That’s Leo, he can be a bit stubborn, so please don’t take it to heart.”

Gesturing toward Max, he added, “And this is Max.”

Fabian nodded respectfully, and Javier inclined his head, speaking with sincerity, “We apologize for our unexpected visit; if we interrupted anything, we are truly sorry.”

Jack said, “Not at all.”

Just then, Leo returned with the coffee. As he prepared to set it down, Jack spoke to him again, “Leo, don’t forget to pour some coffee for our guests.”

Pouting, Leo was about to pour when he noticed Javier rising, extending his hand gently, Javier said, “Let me handle it, Leo.”

Leo handed over the coffee pot.

In the kitchen, Elysia picked up a nearby knife, skillfully scraping off the scales.

Holden watched in awe. “Elysia, you’re amazing.”

Phoebe said, “Elysia is talented in many ways, and cooking is just one of them. You have no idea how incredible her dishes are;

they are truly chef–level.”

These words struck a discordant chord in Holden’s heart. Which young woman from the wealthy families of Jorlandia can cook?

None; they are all sheltered from any kind of labor. What has her previous life been like?”

While Holden pondered this, Elysia finished scraping the scales and expertly gutted the fish, placing the innards on the chopping board.

With deft strokes of her knife, she transformed a single fish into several refined dishes: fish tacos, fish soup, smoked fish, and 2/3 Chapter 235 lemon butter fish.
