Chapter 286 Elysia couldnât shake the feeling that there was more to the story. Kaelen hadnât given her any useful information, leaving Jim as the only suspect in her mind.
âHeâd better pray he had no part in this,â she thought, her eyes narrowing. If he did, heâs going to pay dearly:
Her earlier conversation with Jim had been a mix of truth and lies. The truth was that she did know some things and had people watching him.
The lie was that she didnât know everythingânot yet. She was aware of Jimâs involvement in the Kaelenâs death, but the rest was still under investigation. Getting rid of Jim would be easy.
All she had to do was hand over the evidence of his crimes to the police, and heâd be locked away for life. But she had no intention of doing that. The feud between Jim and Kaelen wasnât her battle to fight.
A faint smile played on Elysiaâs lips. âKaelenâs unfinished revenge has nothing to do with me. Iâm not going to play the hero and avenge him. Unless, of course, Jim gives me a reason to take him down myself, he thought.
Meanwhile, in Edwardâs house, Phoebe stirred in her sleep, reaching out for Elysia beside her. But her hand found only empty space.
Startled, she opened her eyes and saw the empty bed. Panic set in as she rubbed her eyes, hoping it was just a dream, but Elysia was nowhere to be seen.
Memories of Elysiaâs behavior the night before flooded her mind, and her worry deepened. âWhat if something happened to her?â
Her thoughts spiraled as she imagined the worst. Without wasting another second, she rushed downstairs to the living room.
Holding onto a sliver of hope, she thought, âMaybe Elysia just couldnât sleep and was in the living room. But the room was empty.
Her eyes darted to the garden. âCould she be out for a morning workout?â
Just as she was about to head outside, Fabianâs voice stopped her in her tracks. âWhere are you going?â
Phoebe turned to see the Evans, and Fabian descending the stairs. She clenched her hands, unsure whether to tell them about Elysiaâs disappearance. âWhat if sheâs just out for a run? Iâd be causing unnecessary alarm,â she thought.
Before she could decide, Edward spoke up. âElysia, why are you coming in from outside?â
Phoebe spun around, her heart leaping with relief as she saw Elysia standing there, perfectly fine. She let out a long breath, resisting the urge to run over and hug her, and instead just stared at her, dumbfounded.
âDad, I went for a morning run,â Elysia said casually, then turned to Phoebe. Her eyes swept over Phoebeâs pajamas, and she raised an eyebrow. âPhoebe, whatâs with the outfit?â
Elysia looked down at Phoebe; Phoebe flushed bright red. In her panic, sheâd completely forgotten to change.
âUh, donât mind the details. Yeah, just ignore the details,â she stammered, her face burning.
Elysia stifled a laugh and leaned closer. âGo change. Iâll wait for you downstairs.â
Phoebe nodded, sensing there was more to Elysiaâs words. âOkay,â she said, then hurried back upstairs.
As Phoebe disappeared, Elysia turned to Edward, Quinita, and Fabian, a calm smile on her face. âDad, Mom, Fabian, thereâs something I need to discuss with you.â
1/2 Chapter 286 Edwardâs interest was piqued. âWhat do you want to discuss, Elysia?â
âYouâll find out in a moment,â Elysia replied with a mysterious smile. She gently helped Quinita to the couch, and the family settled in. Just then, Javier, Holden, and Yehoshua cameâ downstairs.
âMorning.â Javier greeted with a warm smile. Elysia turned to see her three brothers and grinned. âPerfect timing. I was just about to go get you.â
Holden smirked, feigning regret. âIf Iâd known you were offering wakeâup calls, I wouldâve slept in a bit longer.â
Edward shot him a look. âElysia has something important to discuss. You three sit down. They quickly straightened up and took their seats on the couch.
âAlright, Elysia,â Javier said, leaning forward. âWeâre all here. Whatâs on your mind?â
Elysia took a deep breath, her expression serious. âMom, Dad, and everyone, I want to go back to Sivro to continue my studies.
What do you think?â
The room fell silent as everyone exchanged glances. Elysia watched their reactions nervously, bracing herself for objections. But before she could say anything, Edward spoke up, his voice calm and steady. âElysia, if thatâs what you want, I have no objections.â
Elysia blinked, caught off guard. She had prepared herself for a fight, but Edwardâs approval came as a surprise.
Before she could respond, Fabian chimed in. âElysia, you should do what makes you happy. Weâll always have your back.â
Javier nodded in agreement. âIâm fine with it too. Weâll have plenty of time together as a family.â
As Holden and Javier voiced their support, Yehoshua turned his attention to Elysia. âI thought she was going to say something serious, given how solemn she looked, he thought, his curiosity piqued. âBut it turns out itâs just this?â
Though Yehoshua felt a pang of reluctance to be apart, he reminded himself that Edward always said that as long as sheâs happy, thatâs all that matters. A gentle smile spread across his face. âElysia, I donât have any objections either.â
Now it was Holdenâs turn. He didnât care where Elysia decided to study. âNo matter where she goes, Iâll find a way to stay close to her, he thought confidently. âIâll just have Wendy buy a place in Sivro for me. Iâll move there permanently.
This works out perfectly. From now on, Elysia will be all mine. The thought filled him with an almost uncontrollable joy, and he quickly nodded in agreement. âWhatever Elysia wants, Iâm fine with it,â he said, his tone cheerful.
All eyes then turned to Quinita, who had been silent. She sat with her head bowed, seemingly deep in thought. Elysia hesitated, thinking Quinita might disapprove. âMom, if you donât agree, I can-â
Quinita interrupted her, looking up with a soft smile. âElysia, I have no objections.â
Elysia stared at her, stunned, âDid Mom just say she was okay with it?â She had expected resistance, but Quinitaâs support was unexpected. âMom, are you sure?â
âEly dist
