Chapter 288
Pampered By Power: The True Heiress Returns
Chapter 288 Elysia stared at her phone, batlled by the sudden hangâup. Avaâs probably wiping away tears right now, Elysia thought. It seemed like her joke had gone too far. âIf I call back now to comfort her, it might only make things worse.
Forget it. Iâll just surprise her when she shows up at Class 6âs door. With that thought, Elysia slipped her phone into her pocket and went to help Jack. After escorting him back to the courtyard, she made her way to the cabin.
Pushing open the storage room door, Elysia immediately saw Zoe tied to the pillar. Her head hung low, and she looked much thinner than before. Elysia stepped inside, and Zoe, noticing the difference in footsteps this time, slowly lifted her head.
When she saw Elysia, a faint smile tugged at her lips. In a weak, hoarse voice, she said, âI knew youâd come back. You wouldnât let me die.â
âNot necessarily. Who says you wonât die just because Iâm back?â Elysia replied coolly.
âWhat do you mean?â Zoe asked, her voice ing.
âBefore, I kept you alive because you were still useful to me. But now.â Elysiaâs eyes met hers, a sly glint in them. âIâve already caught the person behind you. Youâre no longer useful to me, Zoe.â
Zoeâs eyes widened in shock. With what little strength she had left, she rasped, âWhat did you do to Ryan?â
âYouâre really loyal, arenât you? Too bad, Ryan doesnât seem to want you in this world anymore.â Zoe let out a bitter laugh, her expression indifferent.
âSo what? My life was his to begin with. If he wants it back, Iâll give it to him. But if you dare lay a finger on him, Iâll spend the rest of my life making sure you regret it.â
Elysia wasnât fazed by the threat. Instead, she chuckled. âYou can barely save yourself, and yet youâre still spouting threats? You couldnât kill me the first time. What makes you think youâll get another chance?â
âIâll get my chance someday!â Zoe hissed.
âWhether youâll even live to see that day is debatable. I really donât understand how Ryan trained you so foolish?â With that, Elysia shoved a pill into Zoeâs mouth and clapped her hands, as if sheâd just accomplished something great.
Zoeâs eyes filled with panic. âWhat did you just give me?â
âPoison, of course. Did you think Iâd give you an antidote? Dream on,â Elysia said with a smirk. Without waiting for a response, she turned and walked out, ignoring Zoeâs horrified expression.
âTruthfully, I donât want her deadâat least not yet. She still has her uses. Even if she isnât particularly useful, she can always serve as a test subject for new drugs, Elysia thought as she stepped out of the cabin.

As Elysia exited, she spotted Phoebe sitting on a tree branch. She leaned against the wall, crossing her arms and smirking.
âHere to see me off?â
Phoebe pouted. âArenât you leaving tomorrow? If I were here to see you off, Iâd wait until then.â
âI was just worried someone might be pretending to be all calm and collected, only to cry in a corner when no oneâs looking,â
Elysia said, her tone teasing.

âWhat do you think?â Elysia replied, her gaze playful.

Phoebe squirmed under Elysiaâs teasing look. âThat doesnât sound like me at all. Am I really that fragile?â Phoebe said. Even as she said it, she began to doubt herself.
âAm I fragile? Well, maybe, perhaps, not really? Elysia always liked to tease me, but I am not fragile at all. When have I ever lost a fight? I am a total tough girl, Phoebe thought.
Seeing Phoebeâs face scrunch up in frustration, Elysia couldnât help but laugh. âThat night, someone hugged me and spilled all sorts of old stories, including how sheâd secretly cry in the dark, too afraid to let anyone see.â
Phoebeâs face turned red. âOkay, I did say a lot that night, but I definitely didnât say anything that pathetic.â
âAre you sure about that?â Elysia raised an eyebrow, her tone dripping with amusement.
Phoebe was momentarily dazed. She remembered saying a lot that night, but the specifics were fuzzy. âDid I really say something like that?â she wondered.
Seeing Elysiaâs confident expression, she began to doubt herself. âCould I have actually let that slip? The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. âHow could I have said something so embarrassing?â
In truth, Phoebe hadnât said anything of the sort. Elysia had made it up. But seeing Phoebeâs reaction, Elysia became even more certain that Phoebe had definitely shed her fair share of tearsâalways in secret, of course.
Elysiaâs playful smile faded as she looked at Phoebe perched on the tree branch. Her tone turned serious. âPhoebe, do you want to come to Sivro with me?â
Phoebe blinked, caught off guard. âTo Sivro?â
âYeah. That way, we wonât have to be apart. You can stay at Arcanum House, or go to Scented Garden and hang out with Nicole.
Or, if you want, I can arrange for you to come to school with me.â
Phoebeâs heart skipped a beat. âIf I go to Sivro, Elysia and I wonât have to separate,â she thought. Without hesitation, she jumped down from the tree and nodded with a bright smile.
âAlright, Iâll go to Sivro with you. But Iâm not interested in school stuff. Iâll stay at Arcanum House. I can even help you out when Iâm free.â
âDeal,â Elysia said, a soft smile spreading across her lips. The promise we couldnât keep beforeâit starts now. From here on out, we wonât be apart,â she thought.

The next morning, Yuna arrived early, waiting by the gate in her car. When Elysia came out, Yuna quickly stepped forward to take her luggage. Then she went to the cabin to retrieve Zoe from the storage room.
Zoeâs clothes were tattered, her face pale, and her entire appearance was haggard. A faint, unpleasant odor clung to her. âBoss, should we clean her up first?â Yuna asked. Elysia nodded, and Yuna took Zoe inside to wash and change. When they emerged, Zoe was dressed in simple, clean clothes. Though her face was still pale, she looked much better than before.
Yuna tied Zoeâs hands and feet with rope again and shoved her into the car. Only then did Elysia speak, her to by the way, I forgot to tell you.
sual, âOh, The pill I gave you yesterdayâif you engage in any intense physical activity or use force, youâll bleed from all seven orifices and die.â
2/3 Chapter 288 Zoe froze for a moment, then sneered. âAre you that afraid Iâll kill you?â
âDo I seem afraid to you?â Elysia replied coolly. âI gave you that pill because I donât consider you worthy of being my opponent.
Iâm telling you this so you donât die too gruesomely.â
Elysiaâs words were blunt, and a flicker of disappointment crossed Zoeâs eyes. âNot worthy of being her opponent?â Zoe thought bitterly. âSomeday, Iâll prove her wrong!
