Chapter 349
Pampered By Power: The True Heiress Returns
Chapter 349 âJavier has a point, Yehoshua said, his voice steady. âAnd any bodyguard we hire has to spar with me fire. Only thone who pass will do. If they canât even handle me, how can they protect Elysia?
Holden crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow. âYehoshua, Iâm guessing, not many people can pass your test, ne?
Yehoshua gave him a sharp look. âIs that a problem?
âWell, if thatâs the case, how are we supposed to find enough bodyguards?â Holden asked.
âWeâll find people who are close to my level. They just need to be good enough. We need numbers, not just a few Yehoshua replied, his tone unwavering As they discussed the plan, Elysia sat in stunned silence. They were so serious, almost like they were planning a military mission. She couldnât help but imagine what it would be like to walk around school or other places with bodyguards.
People would stare, for sure. She could already hear the whispers and see the awkward glances.
This was definitely going to be uncomfortable.
âUm, Mom, Dad, brothers, I have something to say, Elysia said, raising her hand. Her serious expression made everyone chuckle.
Javier smiled. âElysia, just speak up. No need for all the formalitiesâ
Elysia rolled her eyes in her mind. âI would love to, but when do you ever give me a chance? she thought Seeing her pout, Fabian couldnât hold back his laugh. âElysia, weâre all ears,â he said, with an amused smile in his eyes.
All eyes were on her now. She straightened up and took a deep breath. âI want to say... can we not have bodyguards?â
âNo way, everyone responded at once. They exchanged glances, and then Javier gave the final call âFive to one, Elysia. Youâre gonna have to listen to us this time.â
âWell, I have one more thing to say. Elysiaâs voice was firm.
âWhat is it?â They asked, eager to hear her out.
In her head, Elysia thought, âItâs pointless to try and change their minds now. Maybe I should try a different angle. Just give a little ground.
She glanced at them, speaking softly but sincerely. âMom, Dad, brothers, Iâm fine with bodyguards, but can they stay out of sight? Iâm not a movie star. Even Holden, a movie star, doesnât need bodyguards when heâs out.â
âIs that one thing?â Javier raised an eyebrow.
âJavier.â Elysia shot him a glare. âStop messing with me.â
âAlright, alright, sorry about that,â Javier said, throwing his hands up in defeat.
âThatâs more like it.â Elysia felt a small win. Her eyes shifted to Edward and Quinita. When neither of them spoke, she turned to Fabian, her gaze hopeful.
Fabian cleared his throat, picking up on her little plan. âI think we can make Elysiaâs request work,â he said, looking at the group.
Elysiaâs eyes instantly brightened when she heard that. âI knew you were the best, Fabian,â she thought to herself.
1/3 09:30 Wed, 19 Mar G Chapter 349 âHaving bodyguards around all the time would mess with Elysiaâs daily routine. Itâs better if they stay out of sight. They can still protect her just as well,â Fabian explained, his tone calm.
Edward paused for a second, thinking it over. Then he nodded. âFabianâs right. If thatâs the case, Iâm good with it.â
Then he turned to Quinita, who was sitting beside him. âWhat do you think, Quinita?â
âAs long as Elysiaâs happy, Iâm fine with it,â Quinita said softly.
âAlright, itâs settled then,â Edward said as he stood up. âIâll have my assistant take care of the detailsâ
With everything decided, the group headed back to their rooms.
At the top of Eveona Hotel, the presidential suite took up the entire rooftop. The Evans family had reserved it when the hotel was first built. It didnât feel like a hotel. It felt more like a home.
Even if their family doubled in size, there would still be plenty of space.
Quinita sat in front of the vanity mirror, her mind racing. The events of the day left her feeling uneasy. âEdward, Iâve been thinking... leaving Elysia alone in Sivro is too dangerous.â
Edward lowered his book and glanced at her. âYou mean, bring her back to Jorlandia?â
Before Quinita could respond, Edward shook his head. âThat wonât work. Elysia wants to stay in Sivro. If we force her to leave, itâll upset her. Can you really do that to her?â
âI donât want to make her sad... but leaving her there just doesnât sit right with me.â Quinitaâs voice trembled. âIâm worried...â
She didnât finish the sentence, but Edward could see the fear in her eyesâthe same fear sheâd had when Evelyn left them.
Thinking about their daughter, Evelyn, who was gone, made Edwardâs heart sink. He stood up, walked over to Quinita, and pulled her into his arms. âDonât worry. Elysia will be fine.â
Since Elysia came back, Quinitaâs health had been slowly improving. She was learning to cope with Evelynâs loss.
Suddenly, Quinita looked up at Edward, her face lighting up. âEdward, if we canât bring Elysia back... Iâll stay with her in Sivro.
That way, I can keep her safe.â
Edward couldnât help but laugh. He didnât think Quinita, who could barely carry a heavy bag, would be much use in protecting anyone.
âWhatâs so funny?â Quinita asked, raising an eyebrow.
âQuinita, are you serious?â Edward chuckled, still amused.
âIâm serious, of course,â Quinita said with a stern look, pulling away from Edwardâs embrace. She straightened up and glanced at him. âJust tell me. Do you think this idea is good or not?â
Edward felt a sharp emptiness in his chest as she pulled away. His eyes lingered on her beautiful face, and he couldnât help but pinch her cheek playfully. Squatting down, he took her hand. âBut if you leave, what am I supposed to do?â
His voice carried a touch of grievance. Quinita, however, just shrugged and replied, âWell, you can come with us to Sivro.â
Edward stared at her, speechless. If it were that easy to leave, he wouldnât have said what he just did.
The Evans Groupâs core was in Jorlandia. Moving to Sivro would mean walking away from everything he had built with the family.
âQuinita...â Edward started, about to say something sweet, but she cut him off, saying, âIf you canât come, just stay in 2/3 Chapter 349 Jorlandia. Iâll be with our daughter hereâ
Edwardâs heart sank. He realized, since Elysiaâs return, his place in Quinitaâs heart had shifted.
âQuinita, my dear,â Edward began to say, but Quinita immediately put her handover his mouth, stopping him âStop it. This is settled,â she said, her tone final.
She stood up, glancing around the room. âI think we should buy another house. I forgot about that. By the way, do you know where Elysia is staying while sheâs in Sivro?â
Edward snapped out of his thoughts. They had overlooked this.
But remembering that Elysia owned Arcanum House, he figured she must be staying there. Still, the disappointment lingered. As a father, he had completely missed something so simple.
Lost in thought, he watched Quinita stand up from the bed. âQuinita, where are you going?â
âI need to check with Elysia. I just canât relax until I know,â Quinita said, her voice filled with concern.
She started to walk out, but Edward quickly reached out and grabbed her arm. âItâs so late. Elysia is probably asleep by now, If you want to ask her, you can do it tomorrow.â
