Chapter 382
Wooing My Ex-Wife
Thunderstruck, everyone shook their heads vehemently.
âNo, no, no, no, no, of course not! Ms. Harris, we would never dare to lie to you!â âYes, Ms. Harris, rest assured, our lips are sealed,â another person echoed in agreement.
Gwendolyn nodded affirmatively and discreetly signaled the guards, conveying her instructions to carefully monitor how they deleted the videos properly.
Afterward, Gwendolyn turned on her heels and exited the film studio without casting a glance behind her.
She promptly instructed William and Quinton to escort Jennifer back home.
During the journey back to Angle, Gwendolyn was still thinking about Eloise.
Eloise, known for her vicious and arrogant nature, hardly had any friends.
Evelyn was one of the few individuals who were associated with her.
During Eloiseâs birthday party a while ago, it was Evelyn who helped her come up with the scheme.
Could Evelyn be the mastermind behind this again? Did she intentionally instigate Eloise to cause trouble this time? But then again, though Evelyn was young, she had always been thoughtful and meticulous.
It doesnât seem like she would be so careless.
Gwendolyn gazed out of the window, Eloiseâs words echoing in her mind, replaying over and over again.
She believed Eloise was trying to sow discord between her and Cedrick by making those remarks.
Cedrick and I have been through thick and thin.
It would be foolish of her to think that she could tear us apart.
The car soon arrived at Angleâs underground car park while she was still in deep contemplation.
Gwendolyn then took the elevator and went straight to the top floor.
The moment she stepped out of the elevator, Joanne approached her.
âMs. Harris, the representative from Erihal has arrived to discuss business with you.
Heâs waiting for you in the reception room.
â Before this, Gwendolyn had finalized the trade tax exemption rights with Gerhardt when she was in Erihal.
She had entrusted the task to Treyton ever since.
âAll right.
Got it,â Gwendolyn replied nonchalantly.
She went back to her office to change into a fresh set of clothes before making her way to the reception room.
As she opened the door, her eyes met the exquisite azure blue eyes of the man standing there.
âMr. Caesar! Iâm pleasantly surprised to see you here,â Gwendolyn exclaimed with a grin, not expecting his presence.
Caesarâs handsome face lit up with a genuine smile that radiated warmth from within.
With his right hand extended, Caesar greeted Gwendolyn.
âGood to see you, Ms. Harris.
Iâm here as a representative of Erihal to discuss business with you.
I volunteered for this opportunity to gain more experience.
â Gwendolyn held a favorable impression of Caesar, as he had extended a helping hand to her during her time in Erihal.
His down-to-earth nature further solidified her positive impression of him.
âNice to meet you too.
I hope weâll have a pleasant collaboration.
â She extended her right hand, mirroring Caesarâs gesture, ready for a handshake.
Gwendolyn maintained a professional tone as she prepared to discuss business.
She understood the importance of separating personal relationships from professional matters and was determined not to let it interfere with their conversation.
Joanne positioned herself behind Gwendolyn and Caesar, diligently taking notes of their business discussion.
After three hours of intense discussion, Gwendolyn and Caesar finally reached a consensus on their business collaboration.
She even took the opportunity to promote a few of their popular series to Caesar, securing overseas screening rights for their productions.
By the time they had finished discussing the additional clauses in the contract, it was time to call it a day.
Caesar looked at Gwendolyn with anticipation, his blue eyes filled with hope.
âMs. Harris, Iâm wondering if I might have the honor of dining with you tonight to celebrate our first collaboration?â Gwendolyn pondered for a moment and thought it would be a nice gesture to treat Caesar to a meal, given that he had traveled to Chanaea and that she also needed his assistance in broadcasting the series overseas.
However, she hesitated, concerned that the man at home might become jealous if he found out about her dinner plans with Caesar.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Gwendolyn smiled faintly and responded, âSure, itâs your first trip to Chanaea, so dinnerâs on me tonight.
I would love to have you try Chanaean cuisine, but since Iâm pregnant, Iâll ask the chef to adjust the flavors a bit.
Besides, I wonât be able to drink tonight, of course.
â Caesar was thrilled to hear that.
âNo worries.
Itâs my pleasure to dine with you, Ms. Harris.
Iâm sure everything will taste delicious.
â âYou certainly have a way with words, Mr. Caesar,â she said.
âI mean every word I said!â he responded.
Engrossed in their conversation, Gwendolyn and Caesar were unaware of the awkward expression on Joanneâs face.
After carefully observing the expression in Caesarâs eyes for a while, Joanne discreetly reached for her phone and sent a text message to Cedrick.
She could not help but feel a pang of guilt, and inwardly, Joanne kept apologizing.
Iâm so sorry, Ms. Harris.
I feel like a traitor, but Mr. Jenson wanted me to keep an eye on all the men in your workplace, and he offered me enticing incentives.
I just couldnât resist it.
However, I believe that as your future husband, he wonât make things difficult for you.
Please donât hold it against me⦠After leaving the reception room, Gwendolyn quickly sent a text message to Cedrick: I wonât be able to join you for dinner tonight.
I have a business dinner to attend.
Once itâs over, Iâll come back and keep you company.
Behave yourself, okay, Ceddy? She ended the text message with a puppy emoji.
Two seconds later, before she could put down her phone, she received a text from him asking: How many people? Are they men or women? Gwendolyn stared at the message and froze for a moment.
If I tell him Iâll be having dinner with Caesar, Iâm pretty sure heâll get jealous.
Having that thought in mind she replied: Iâm having dinner with several guests, both men and women.
Donât worry, Iâll keep a distance from them.
She added another flying kiss emoji at the end of the message.
After sending the message, she no longer received a reply from him.
Gwendolyn did not dwell on it too much and continued engaging in conversation with Caesar as they made their way downstairs in the elevator together.
Unbeknownst to her, the man who was already waiting for her in the car exploded in a fit of rage upon reading her message! In his fury, he almost tore apart the only black Shelby supercar, the exclusive model in the whole of Chanaea.
A storm was definitely brewing.
Gwendolyn and Caesar walked side by side out of Angle Corporation.
They were standing so close that their bodies almost touched.
Caesar asked, âMs. Harris, I heard that youâre going to get married for real this time.
Is that true?â âYup, the wedding is scheduled for next month.
If youâre still around, I would be delighted to have you at my wedding.
And of course, Iâll be anticipating your wedding gift,â she quipped.
Caesar burst into laughter.
âI will certainly prepare an exquisite gift for you on your wedding day!â Gwendolyn responded with a chuckle.
âDonât worry, when you get married, Iâll make sure to send a gift even if I canât make it to attend the wedding.
â Caesar let out a hearty laugh, though there was a hint of concealed disappointment in his blue azure eyes.
âItâs still too early for me to get married.
I fell in love with a girl I met not long ago, but I just found out that sheâll be marrying someone else.
I havenât even started yearning for her, and Iâve already heartbroken.
â After finishing speaking, he lowered his eyes, and a hint of sadness permeated the air.
Gwendolyn comforted him with a reassuring smile.
âCheer up! Iâm sure youâll meet someone you like soonâthe girl destined to be your life partner.
â âI hope so.
â Suddenly, Caesar stopped in his tracks and struck a gentlemanâs pose, extending his hand gracefully.
âMs. Harris, would you be kind enough to allow me to greet you with Epean formalities for one last time?â he asked.
âSure,â she responded.
Itâs just a kiss on the back of my hand, isnât it? No big deal.
Caesar gave her an infectious smile and bowed gracefully.
âIâm truly grateful for the opportunity to dine with you tonight.
â He then lowered his head, but before his lips could reach Gwendolynâs hand, a large palm emerged, gripping his wrist firmly.
An angry roar ensued.
âYou want to have dinner with her? Take this first!â After the man finished speaking, a heavy punch landed squarely on Caesarâs right cheek.
