Cedrick was speechless. I doubt there’s anything I can say to calm her down.

Thus, he unwillingly returned to the couch and dove back into his work.

The room went silent, and neither of them uttered another word for hours.

However, the sound of their typing and writing blended harmoniously with each other.

Another two hours passed before Parker slowly opened the door. Instead of entering the room, she waited for Gwendolyn outside. “There’ll be a shareholder meeting in fifteen minutes, Ms. Harris. All directors are already waiting for you in the conference room.”

“All right. I’ll be there soon.” Upon turning off her computer, Gwendolyn glanced at Cedrick, who was wholly focused on his writing.

Instead of bothering him, she headed to the conference room.

When the directors spotted Gwendolyn, their expressions turned serious, and the atmosphere shifted subtly.

Meanwhile, Robert, who met with her at the office earlier, glared at her.

Gwendolyn noticed it, but she ignored him and started the meeting.

The meeting was boring as it was primarily about the reports on the monthly sales, the progress of various projects, and other things. It lasted for an hour and a half.

Gwendolyn felt a little tired, she didn’t show it on her face and continued to listen attentively.

Eventually, the meeting reached its end. Gwendolyn customarily announced, “If there’s nothing else, our monthly meeting will end here.”

The majority of attendants started turning off their laptops and packing their things.

Suddenly, Robert stood with a raised hand. “I noticed Mr. Jenson was in your office when I visited you earlier, Ms. Harris. What were you doing in the office with him when you refused to meet me?”

His words startled everyone.

The crowd stared at Robert with widened eyes, shocked. Although, they were secretly impressed by his bravery.

After all, he was clearly putting Gwendolyn on the spot by questioning her about her relationship in front of many people.

Gwendolyn lifted her eyes coldly. There were no traces of awkwardness on her countenance as she answered nonchalantly, “Cedrick and my wedding will be held next week, Mr. Black. What do you think we were doing?”

Frowning, Robert spat, “You’re the CEO of the company, Ms. Harris! Not only do you feel unashamed for flirting in the company office, but you also make it sound normal! What makes you think any of us will believe an incompetent leader like you can do a good job helming Harris Group?”

In response, Gwendolyn slapped the table loudly, frightening many people.

She’d act fiercely whenever she was angry. “You’re saying I can’t manage the company well, but can you? If I hand you my position, can you even run it for a few days? So what if I acted a little romantic with my future husband? I can’t tell whether you’re a busybody or an undisciplined man who disrespects your superior by questioning her about this in a meeting. Also, did you seriously call me incompetent? Are you saying you can somehow tell I’m incapable of increasing the company’s profits for this year even though I just started working not long ago? Are you telling us you have the ability to see the future?”

A few people snickered.

“You’re ridiculous!” Robert’s face was flushed with anger. Even though I only criticized her a little, she rebuked me several times more. I’m a veteran in this company, yet she’s looking down on me! This is unbelievable!

Scoffing, Gwendolyn glowered at him coldly. “Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’re a thirty-year-old veteran in this company, Mr. Black. I’m not as lenient as Asher! You’ll be punished for your misbehavior today!”

“Gwendolyn Harris!” Robert was so furious that his beard almost stood on end. “Even your father needs to treat me with respect, yet you have the gall to punish me just as you take over the position?”

“Why are you so surprised?” Arching her eyebrow, Gwendolyn grinned casually. “A new broom sweeps clean, you know? You ran head-first into a cannonball, so you have no one to blame but yourself.”

Displeased, Robert continued, “You’ve been bringing Mr. Jenson here every day, Gwendolyn! You know he’s the CEO of Jenson Group and that both companies are rivals, yet you let him stay in your office! I really suspect you’re intentionally leaking company secrets!”

That was a severe matter, so all the directors immediately put on serious expressions. A solemn atmosphere promptly settled in the conference room.

Gwendolyn was unperturbed. I’m tempted to tell him not only was I keeping Cedrick in my office, I even allowed him to read all the documents! However, if I do, all the directors here will explode in anger. In fact, they’ll vote to kick me out of the company tomorrow.

When her train of thought ended there, she grinned and unleashed the ace up her sleeve. “I’m pregnant with twins, Mr. Black.”

Robert was dumbstruck, failing to comprehend the intention of her words.

Thus, Gwendolyn continued, “The doctor said I should be more mindful of my health because my first pregnancy involves twins. So, Cedrick is here to take care of me. Do I really need to report such a matter to you, Mr. Black?”

“You… You…” He paled, unable to utter another word.

The other directors swiftly reacted to the situation and congratulated Gwendolyn.

“Congratulations, Ms. Harris! That’s wonderful news! You and Mr. Jenson are truly blessed!”

“Yeah! Even though Ms. Harris is pregnant, she’s still so hardworking. Mr. Jenson should be helping her from the side.”

“Mr. Jenson’s willing to place Ms. Harris and their children before his company matters! He is such a loving man. Your relationship with Mr. Jenson is truly enviable!”

Robert’s scowl intensified as he listened to the crowd praising Gwendolyn, though there was nothing he could say. I didn’t expect Cedrick to visit the company just to take care of his pregnant, future wife.

There’s no way I can say that this is wrong.

Now it looks like he was framing me for leaking company secrets. Gwendolyn grinned coldly. “You’ve challenged my authority more than once today, Mr. Black. I think your punishment is too light.”

Robert was speechless and had no choice but to accept his heavier punishment.

Nevertheless, Gwendolyn was still pissed, even after she returned to the office.

When Cedrick saw her entering the office with a grimace, he could tell something was up.

He paused his work and inquired, “Were there issues with the meeting, Gwenny?”

“Yeah. That old b*stard Robert was practically asking for a good round of lashing.”

“Did you grant him his wish?” asked Cedrick, grinning.

Gwendolyn pointed at her abdomen proudly. “There’s no way I can lose with these babies around.

Once my belly gets bigger in the coming months, no one will dare to act arrogantly in front of me!”

In response, he chuckled and carried her to the couch before cheering her up.

Gwendolyn’s mood was swiftly lifted. Then, she suddenly recalled an important matter. “What is the progress with the documents? Have you finished going through them yet? How much do you have left?”

Just as Cedrick was about to kiss her, he froze.
