Chapter 461
Wooing My Ex-Wife
Chapter 461 Heartless And Cruel Jasmine pouted unhappily upon recalling this matter. "I heard from Craig that she's sick, and it seems quite serious. He didn't want anyone to disturb her rest and recovery. No visitors are permitted, and we are forbidden to speak loudly in the house."
Gwendolyn frowned and asked cautiously, âWhat kind of serious illness could lead to restricted access to the villa? Have you checked on her?"
Jasmine shook her head. "What's there to see when someone's sick?"
Gwendolyn held her hand and tried to persuade her. "She has just moved into the Newton residence a few days ago and has fallen sick. Craig is also making a huge deal about her illness. Aren't you curious about how serious it is? Don't you want to go and see her?"
Jasmine contemplated for a moment.
Truth be told, she was curious about it.
It's only been a few days, and it's so serious that Craig has to give orders to everyone at home. Is it really some rare illness? But I don't dare to visit her.
Thinking about how Craig would react if he found out, she shuddered and shook her head vehemently.
"I don't wish to see her. If Craig found out, he would kill me. I'd better stay put."
Failing to persuade Jasmine, Gwendolyn had no choice but to let the matter slide.
After returning to Harrick Villa, she called Treyton again.
"I think Jennifer is seriously ill."
Treyton stood up abruptly, his eyes filled with shock and anger. "What did Craig do to her? She rarely falls ill. I even accompanied her to the hospital for a full body check-up because of her filming requirements not long ago. There's no way she would suddenly develop a serious illness!"
Gwendolyn patted his shoulder reassuringly, getting him to sit down.
"Treyton, calm down. I don't believe it either."
Cedrick sat at the side quietly, contemplating the situation as well.
"Craig has canceled all of Jennifer's schedules. If she really isn't sick, then it's highly likely that he's imprisoning her on purpose."
Gwendolyn listened attentively and nodded. "I analyzed again and again afterward. Jennifer was behaving abnormally at the homecoming feast. She was perfectly fine when Craig brought her to the business gala." Treyton stood up again. "Craig is a b*stard! He doesn't even spare his sister! There is no longer any need to consider the relationship between the two families! Let's go with the most extreme plan we discussed yesterday!" Gwendolyn and Cedrick nodded. Gwendolyn said, "Treyton, let's split up the tasks. You go and deal with Remus. Look for Asher. I believe he has a plan to persuade Remus to give in. Cedrick and I will try to meet Jennifer." "Okay."
Treyton left promptly after that.
The living room plunged into silence once Gwendolyn and Cedrick were the only ones left.
After some time, Cedrick asked, "Gwenny, what kind of excuse do you think is appropriate to let Nico enter the residence to conduct a thorough search?"
Gwendolyn thought about it and said, "How about we ask Jasmine to work together with us? I'll host a tea party in two days and pass her some valuable jewelry. Then, we can make up an excuse about the expensive jewelry being stolen and let Nico search the place. What do you think?"
Cedrick smiled and rubbed the tip of her nose. "You're so smart. We'll do as you say."
His remark evoked a laugh from Gwendolyn.
She remembered being forced to interact with Charles when the poison in Cedrick's body had not been completely removed.
During that period, Treyton and Jennifer had been a cute couple. She had really envied their sweet and simple moments.
Little did she expect their relationship to be in a crisis in the blink of an eye. The relationship between Cedrick and her was the most stable now.
"A penny for your thoughts, Darling."
Cedrick leaned in and rubbed his nose against hers. She could feel his warm breath on her face, causing her to regain her senses.
"I was thinking, it seems we haven't had a fight in a long time."
Cedrick stared at her strangely. "Isn't that a good thing? Do you want us to argue?"
Gwendolyn giggled. "It's been said that having an argument every now and then adds spice to your life. It feels surreal when we don't fight."
He arched a brow and smiled devilishly. "Then, why don't we argue today? You can release some pent-up emotions."
"How should we argue?"
Cedrick's expression turned cold instantly as he uttered grimly, "Gwendolyn, it seems you've been neglecting me lately. What's wrong with wanting to sleep with my wife? How could you restrict me on this? You're heartless and cruel!" Gwendolyn frowned and reached out to grab his ear.
"Ouch! Have mercy one me, Darling!"
Gwendolyn ignored him and grew angry. "Cedrick, are you looking for trouble on purpose by picking a fight? You're speaking your true thoughts and complaining at the same time."
He frowned and looked aggrieved. "I'm only giving an example. How could I possibly hold any grievances against you?"
Gwendolyn snorted coldly. How could I not see through your schemes?
"You called me Gwendolyn just now. Let's head upstairs for your punishment."
Cedrick's face paled. Did I miscalculate and dig myself a hole?
"Darling..." he whined with a bitter expression.
"Spit it out."
Cedrick wrapped his arms around her waist and buried her head in her neck. He took a deep breath and replied, "Please be gentle." Gwendolyn suppressed a smile and rubbed the back of his head. "I promise to make you feel good."
She grabbed his tie, wrapped it around her hand a few times, and pulled him up seductively. "Let's go and receive your punishment."
Cedrick let her drag him domineeringly. She was like a drug that he willingly allowed himself to be addicted to.
It was around noon, and it only took a small fake argument before things spiraled out of control for the couple.
Gwendolyn began sending out invitations for her tea party in the evening. The event would take place at Gardens Hotel.
Treyton returned to the Harris residence on Mount Tranquil.
Since his father passed away, he hadn't returned in a long time. He had been staying in one of his properties.
He hadn't seen Asher in a long time and didn't expect to meet him by his bedside.
Sienna brought him inside. As she led the way, she said, "He has a severe side effect from the time spent kneeling on the ground reciting Heagurn Sutra and refusing to leave even when it was raining. His knees ache every time it rains now. He can't walk, and his voice hasn't returned to normal."
Treyton sighed as he felt a pang in his heart. "Evelyn was the one responsible. Although Asher was at fault, Kiddo didn't really blame him for it. Why does he have to torment himself like this?"
A long sigh escaped Sienna's lips. Sorrow filled her eyes as she said, "Forget it. It's all in the past. There's no need to bring it up again."
Treyton nodded and followed her upstairs. Suddenly remembering something, he asked, "Is Asher still finding Evelyn? How's the search going? Is there any news from her?"
