Chapter 1051
Julian’s Stand-In Wife
Chapter 1051 Mr. Fulcherâs fiancée was another woman.
Diana was situationally aware enough to sense Layla becoming more serious, and immediately guessed who was on the line.
She didnât cut in the phone conversation, and instead settled on the couch.
She wanted to ask about what Layla had said earlier, and to know how many times Julianâs phone rang.
She was also curious about the text.
Layla was telling her about it, but couldnât finish explaining.
Could Mr. Whatever be Julian...? If Julian had been fooling her under the alias of Mr. Whatever and hiding it from her...
Diana clenched her fists, a strange sensation rising in her chest.
Layla was shuddering.
âSir...â She could tell that Julian was furious right now.
âForget it,â he said.
Thankfully, he didnât press the matter this time.
âSend the phone to...no, Iâd better come over and take it myself.â Layla immediately nodded.
âOf course, Sir.â Diana saw Layla hang up without saying much, though her face had gone pale.
Diana quickly poured a cup of water for Layla.
âWhat's the matter? Did Julian scold you?â âNo, he didnât,â Layla said as she patted her chest, not taking the water from Diana.
Her heart was still in her throat.
She didnât think she could drink anything right now.
She needed some time to calm down first.
âMr. Fulcher was alright.
I didnât say much in the phone call, and he didnât press the matter,â she said, although she could sense his frustration through his tone.
Even so, he didnât kick her back to the Fulcher Manor.
Layla was satisfied enough to know that he still allowed her to keep working in Collina Villa.
Diana nodded.
She chatted casually with Layla for a while before asking, âJust now, in the afternoon, you mentioned that Julianâs phone in the room kept ringing.
Around what time did that happen? You also said that someone texted him, asking to meet him?â
Laylaâs heart thumped hard in her chest.
She was terrified she might do or say something that might expose Julianâs secrets.
And so, she immediately shook her head.
âNo,â she said.
She looked at Diana, and went on honestly, âThe person who was asking to meet Mr. Fulcher was a man.â Layla had no choice but to lie to make up for her mistake.
âIn his text, I saw that he signed off as a mister.â âReally?â âYes.
Mr. Fulcher was angry just now because I read his text message without his permission.â Diana believed itâJulian really was angry.
She could tell just from Laylaâs expression.
Perhaps this whole thing was just a coincidence.
Since the text Julian received was signed by a man, it was definitely not from her.
She had been thinking too much.
How could Julian possibly invest so much in her studio, and yet say nothing about it? âPm rather tired,â
Diana said.
âI'll head upstairs first?â âSure.â Layla urged her to get some rest.
After Diana left, Layla called Julian.
She told him everything Diana asked her, and how she replied.
Julian sighed in relief.
âGot it.
Donât look at my phone in the future.â At that time, Layla only entered the room because she kept hearing the phone ring.
It was then that she accidentally peeked at the text.
She never intended to look at his phone.
Julian knew she was upset.
âI shouldnât have flared up at you just now.
Donât take it to heart.â Layla was shocked.
She had never heard Julian apologize to her, and immediately said, âItâs fine, itâs already passed.
In the first place, I was the one in the wrong.
Please donât worry about it, Mr. Fulcher.â At that moment, Diana stood on the second floor.
She heard Layla and Julianâs conversation downstairs.
Doubt flashed past her eyes.
And in that doubt was a small hint of sorrow.
