Chapter 1103
Julian’s Stand-In Wife
Diana had gradually learned to let go.
Plus, with the recent audit over the past week, she realized that even after repaying Mr. Whateverâs investment, she could still afford the down payment on Oliverâs house.
âI bought it on mortgage, and Iâll have to make monthly payments.â
Fortunately, the house was in a slightly less expensive area. Aside from the down payment, the monthly mortgage payments werenât too burdensome.
Diana looked at Sean, and continued, âI donât have to cover Seanâs tuition fees. Julian may not be great to me, but heâs good to the children.â
She knew Sean harbored some resentment towards Julian at the moment. So, she wanted to say some positive things about Julian in front of Sean.
The children had their own thoughts, and she had her own. She couldnât let her relationship problems affect her childrenâs expectations of their father.
However, Sean didnât say anything in response. He silently went into the bathroom to run the bathwater himself. The sound of rushing water echoed in the bathroom.
Diana immediately realized what had happened, and rushed towards the bathroom. She slapped her forehead in frustration, and said, âWe canât take a bath today.â
Sean looked puzzled. âWhy not?â
Diana felt a bit embarrassed as she explained, âYesterday, I didnât think to remove the flower stems when I drained the water, and they clogged the drainââ
âItâs already fixed,â Vans interrupted Diana, unable to resist chiming in. âTry it if you donât believe me.â
Diana looked at him in astonishment. âItâs fixed? Did Nina ask you to fix it while I was away?â
She couldnât believe that the issue had been resolved so quickly. In a big city, workers were in high demand. Usually, they needed to make an appointment for a visit.
Vans remembered Julianâs instructions, and kept the secret that Julian had arranged for the repair. He simply nodded reluctantly and said, âYeah.â
Unfortunately, Vans was not a good liar.
Diana, who now had her memories back, stared at Vans intensely before saying calmly, âGo check on Nina.â
Feeling like he had just been caught, Vans snapped out of it and replied, âYou take care of the kids first.â
Whenever he lied, he couldnât help but feel guilty.
Diana could almost guess that Vans was home at this time of the day, because he hadnât gone to work at the hospital today.
When they had talked about buying flowers to visit the cemetery and he had claimed he needed to work, it was very likely that he had lied to them.
The sound of running water continued to echo in the bathroom. Dianaâs thoughts drifted, and it wasnât until Sean tugged at her that she snapped out of it.
âMommy, what are you thinking about? Betty said she doesnât want a bath anymore. She just wants a shower.â
âAlright,â Diana quickly responded. âSean, you can go out first. Iâll help Betty wash up.â
Betty seemed exhausted. After her shower, she quickly climbed into bed and fell asleep.
Now, only Diana and Sean were left in the bathroom. She watched her son, whose cheeks had turned slightly red due to the warmth of the bathroom.
âIâll step outside, okay? Iâll be right by the door. If you need anything, just call for me.â
Sean nodded. Then, he stepped into the tub. Once the top of the water was filled with bubbles, he called out, âMommy.â
Diana thought something might be wrong, and hurriedly entered. âWhatâs wrong?â
âNothing,â he replied. With a smile, he handed Diana a washcloth and said, My back is a bit itchy.â
When Sean lived with Julian, Julian would sometimes wash his back for him. At this moment, Sean suddenly missed those simple father-son bonding moments.
âI lied.â
âHmm?â
âToday, I said itâs okay not to have a daddy. I lied,â Sean admitted. He felt like something was missing without his father.
âWould you like to call Daddy?â Diana asked.
Sean looked up, and asked Diana, âIs that okay, Mommy?â
