Chapter 443
Julian’s Stand-In Wife
When Nina saw the stunned and hesitant look on Dianaâs face, she pressed further. âDo you have any proof that Mr. Whatever is related to Julian?â
âNo,â Diana replied. âItâs just a gut feelingâ¦â
Feelings are just that, and itâs not facts,â Nina reassured Diana. âYouâre in the early stages of your business, so you have to take good opportunities when they come. And even if Julian had something to do with it, what could he force you to do? Make you submit? Remarry him?â
âThatâs impossible,â Diana said, looking at Nina in shock. âAfter all thatâs happened, canât you see Iâm just a dispensable pet in his eyes that he plays with whenever he likes? Iâm not his true love. Kayla is.â
This was a matter that Diana had repeatedly reminded herself after the divorce.
âBut Iâm sick of this uncomfortable feeling he gives me whenever he plays with me,â Diana added.
âDiana, you havenât been able to forget him nor stop loving him,â Nina said with a sigh. âYou just canât stop caring about him, and thatâs why you keep thinking he has something to do with things, whether they go smoothly or not.â
Diana was taken aback by her friendâs words. âReally?â
âYes.â
When she had spoken to Oliver back then, he had advised her to just let things with Julian take their natural course.
âI guess Iâm still too uptight about it,â Diana muttered after pondering about it for a moment.
âThatâs normal too. After all, you loved him for three whole years, and you even conceived two babies with him. Even though theyâre no longer⦠Regardless, no one can replace those experiences between the two of you,â Nina said.
In short, theyâve been through so much together that itâs almost impossible to separate from him entirely.
âBut I havenât forgiven him,â Diana said, realizing this and feeling distressed. âAs long as he doesnât resolve things with Kayla and Mr. Carter, Iâll despise him every day. But⦠Why do I still think about him and involuntarily connect everything with him?â
âLetting things take their natural course isnât enough. You need a new man,â Nina said, not wanting Diana to dwell on the issues of the babies. âI think Oliver isnât bad. Have you considered giving him a try?â
âI donât have that kind of romantic interest in him,â Diana said with a sigh.
As they were walking, they made their way to the studio. Just as they entered the place, Dianaâs staff handed her a document and said, âMaâam, this is a contract we just received.â
Contract?
Diana accepted it and opened the envelope, and her eyes widened after she read it.
Nina leaned over anxiously.
âWhat? What is it?â
âMr. Whatever really does whatever he wants, huh?â Diana wasnât sure if she was happy or concerned.
âHe returned the contract so quickly.â
âLetâs see what his name is,â Nina said, scanning down the document for his name. Then, she snorted and laughed.
Diana followed suit after a while, and gasped, âHow could he also write âWhateverâ as his name? Is that really his name?!â
Nina questioned reasonably, âIs he playing with us?â
âI donât think so,â Diana said in surprise as she handed Nina her phone, on which she had just received a text message. âThe investment money has been transferred to me.â
This meant the man hadnât only accepted all her requests, but had also helped her out with the fastest speed possible.
âThatâs great!â Nina was happy for her best friend from the bottom of her heart. âGo! Iâm sure you need to get to work!â
She bade goodbye to Diana and said, âIâm just glad everything worked out and that youâre okay now. Iâll head back to work too, then. When youâre done with what you need to do, letâs catch up again, okay?â
After a moment, Nina added, âDonât think too much about things, okay? Even if you want to, think about other men.â
âYeah, sure.â Diana knew who Nina was referring to. âIâll think about it.â
