Chapter 136 - Becoming a Bodyguard in You From the Star…(Part 2)
Top Sexy Girl Group
âHey, Jinwoo.â
âOhâ¦sorry. Mr. Park.â
âYes,â Jinwoo said.
âDo you know Heejin Kang?â
âOf course. Sheâs one of the hottest stars right now.â
âWell, Iâm good friends with her,â I bragged. I mean, itâs true after all.
âYeah, I know,â Jinwoo said in response, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
âWaitâ¦really?â
âOf course. Thereâs nothing I donât know about youâ¦except for your real identity.â
âMy real identity?â
âYou know. Whether or not youâre an alienâ¦â
âYouâreâ¦â
I almost called him a crazy bastard on the spot, but luckily, I refrained myself.
âAnyways, Heejin asked me a favor.â
âYou talking about You From the Star?â
âHow do you know about that?â
âThe president of U Entertainment called me.â
âOh. Really?â
Well, that was fast.
âSo, are you going to do it?â
âYes.â
âOh?â Jinwoo said, his eyes becoming wide. He added, âI canât remember the last time you agreed to something this fast.â
âThatâs because I never did.â
âAmazing.â
âI know.â
âBut, Sian?â
âYes?â
âIt could be dangerous. The fight scene is intense.â
âItâs fine.â
Really, it is. Itâs my opponent who has more to worry about.
âYou have to do wire stunts as well.â
âWire stunts? Do I really have to do that?â I asked.
âOf course. You want to do this properly, donât you?â Jinwoo said.
âWell, of course.â
âAnyways, theyâre having professional stuntmen work with you before filming.â
âThey are?â I said, making a face.
âYeah.â
âWhy?â
Seriously. Why? I donât need anyone to work with me. I was the best of the best during my time.
âWhat do you mean why? You need to work with professionals and learn how to fight.â
âBut I know how to fight.â
âFighting in real life is different from fight scenes in dramas.â
âOkay.â
Fine. Weâll just see if thatâs truly the case.
âSo youâre doing it, right?â
âYeah.â
And thatâs how I was confirmed for the drama. Then again, I canât say I was too enthusiastic about the idea.
As soon as I left the office, I called Heejin.
Ring ring. Click.
She picked up right away. Itâs like sheâd been waiting for my call.
â Sian!
âHey, Heejin. Iâm doing it.â
â I know! I just heard!â
âOh, good.â
â Hey, Sian, where are you right now?
âIn your heart~â
â Hehe. Sian, youâre so cute!
â....â
Iâm thirty years oldâ¦
â Are you free? Letâs meet up!
âSure,â I agreed. I might as well take this chance to ask her more about the drama.
***
âGet in,â I said to Heejin as I rolled down my window. I was at the U Entertainment building. That is, I drove to the building in my own car to pick her up. It was the Genesis that Nayoungâs father had gifted me.
âOh my god!â Heejin exclaimed. She ran over and got into the passenger seat, looking all around the car. She let out a gasp.
âOh my god, Sian! This car is so cool!â
âI got it as a gift.â
âFrom who?â
âThe CEO of Saman Group.â
âReally? Thatâs so cool!â
âI know, right?â I said with a smile. I stepped on the gas and soon, we sped off.
âWhat should we eat?â I asked.
âI want a burger!â
âA burger?â
âYeah!â
âOkay.â
Burgers sounded nice. A little young for my taste, but Heejin was still a baby herself if youâd ask me.
âHey, Sian.â
âYeah?â
âWhere are we going?â
âThe Han river.â
Suddenly, Heejin let out a shy giggle. I swear, if I was in a manâs bodyâ¦
âWhatâs with the laugh?â
âItâs my first time going to the Han River with someone. Like a date!â
âOh.â
It was my first time as well. The thought of my having first Han river date with Heejin made me rather happy.
âHave you been to the Han river before with your boyfriend?â
âMy boyfriend? I donât have a boyfriend.â
Of course I donât have one. And I never will.
âLike never.â
âYep. Iâm SFL.â
âWhatâs SFL?â
âSingle for life.â
âPfft.â
Heejin laughed again.
I added, âI donât plan on ever having a boyfriend.â
âWhy not? Do you hate men?â
âWith a passion,â I said with a firm nod. All men were trash.
âReally? Why? Then, do you like girls?â
âYep.â
âWait, youâre notâ¦â
âNot what?â
âA lesbian?â
â....â
Just how many times am I going to have to hear that? Iâm a guy, goddammit! Thatâs why I like girls!
âIâm not a lesbian.â
âIf so, why do you hate men?â
âI just do.â
âOkay.â
And just then, we arrived at the Han River. I tried to park, but the car in front of us kept bouncing up and down. .
âSian, whatâs wrong with that car?â
âTheyâre probably doing things inside.â
I mean, why else would a car be bouncing like that?
âThings?â Heejin said, looking confused. Either that, or she was pretending to be innocent.
âCouple things,â I said, trying to keep it PG.
âOh my god!â Heejin gasped, covering her mouth with both hands. She immediately looked embarrassed.
âHey, want to see something funny?â
I expertly lined my car so that it was right behind the other car. Then, I turned the headlights.
Shocked screams have never sounded so beautiful.
***
The couple quickly drove away, looking like two parents whoâd been caught by their kids having sex. I calmly pulled into their space.
âNice view.â
âYeah,â Heejin said, watching the scene in front of her with a thoughtful look on her face.
âWhat are you thinking about?â
âJust trying to figure out if this is all real or if itâs a dream.â
âWhat?â I asked with an amused smile. Then again, to be honest, I wondered that as well. Am I really a girl? Or is it simply a dream that I need to wake up from? And you know, if it was a dream, I think I might be a little sad. Iâve made a lot of friends and Iâd hate to say goodbye.
âI never thought Iâd ever come here.â
âJust enjoy it.â
After all, câest la vie.
âLetâs get some burgers.â
âOkay. Oh but, Sian?â
âYeah?â
âMy agency president gave me his card. He told us to buy food with it.â
âOh? Really?â
Well, that was sweet of him.
âLetâs get something expensive,â Heejin suggested.
âNah. Thatâs too bothersome. Letâs just order some hamburgers.â
Heâs a lucky, lucky man.
âOkay!â
So we ordered some delivery hamburgers. But I knew that one wouldnât be enough, or twoâ¦or threeâ¦or fourâ¦fiveâ¦sixâ¦sevenâ¦so I ordered ten. With Heejinâs, that was eleven burgers.
âYouâre only having one?â
âYeah. Oneâs enough for me.â
âHow?â
I really donât get it. How could one burger possibly be enough? Well anyways, the hamburgers soon arrived and we began to eat.
âSo Heejin, youâre in U Entertainment?â
âYeah,â Heejin said, dipping her fries into some ketchup.
âThatâs the same company as Kyun Park from Cowboy, right?â
âYeah. The Cowboy members have been there longer though.â
âTheyâre total trash.â
Heejin smiled at those words. Then, she spoke up.
âYou mean Kyun, right?â
âYeah,â I answered.
âEveryone knows heâs awful to women. Our company president doesnât like him much either.â
âOh, really?â
âYeah, but the problem is that Cowboy is a really popular group so the president canât do much about it. Kyun alone brings in so much money from overseas. Heâs filming a drama in China, you know.â
âReally?â
How could a guy like that be so popular? The world needed better taste.
âYeah, but I heard he was attacked recently. He keeps telling everyone that it was you. Was it really?â
âYeah,â I answered honestly. Might as well. Heejin knows how good I am at fighting.
âHa! I knew it. I figured something like that would happen the moment I heard you two were casted together.â
âYou shouldâve told him to be careful.â
âI should have.â
Heejin and I looked at each other and smiled. But as we did, a weird feeling settled over us. My eyes quickly glanced down at a slight blob of ketchup on the corner of Heejinâs lips. I wanted to lick it off, but I refrained myself. Again and again. Because thatâs all I can do.
âHey, Sian.â
âYeah?â
âIf you were a guy, Iâd totally kiss you.â
â....â
Ugh. Why did she have to say that?
Anyways, we continued to chat as we ate the rest of our burgers. I also made a decision to myself â to never come back to the Han River again. This was just too hard. All this pretending and holding myself back. It was just too tiring.
***
The days passed quickly, and I was soon on my way to an action school to meet with the stuntmen for my scene. They were going to teach me martial arts and judge my fighting skills for themselves.
âHi. Nice to meet you. Sian, right?â
That was the director of the action school, Sun-dong Hong. He gave me a bow as I walked in.
âYes, hello,â I greeted back. We shook hands. The moment I touched his hand, I knew he was a samurai. Yep. A samurai.
âItâs an honor to meet you.â
âThank you,â I said, giving him a modest smile.
âWhere did you learn to fight like that?â
âUh, just around,â I said.
âYes, it does look that way,â the director said. âIt seems like youâve received no official training. I canât exactly say youâre good at it.â
âRight.â
Here we go. Another guy getting on my nerves.
âAnd you should probably know that fighting in real life is very different from fighting in dramas.â
âYes, Iâm aware.â
After all, showing and doing are two different things.
âThatâs good. We do stunts purely for performance purposes, and it can be hard to get used to. Also, remember that the harder the move, the cooler it looks on screen.â
âRight.â
âSo you may have difficulty in the beginning.â
âUh-huh.â
âThe thing is, thereâs some acting as well. The original actor was supposed to be from our school, but Heejin kept insisting on using you soâ¦â
The man slowly shook his head. It seemed like he didnât agree with the drama directorâs decision to cast me instead.
âWell, no matter. Weâll do our best to help you prepare for your scene. You just have to follow our lead. And please be understanding if I tend to get angry or go hard on you.â
âOkay.â
Yeah, yeah. Get on with it. Geez, this man could talk.
âLetâs go.â
âOkay.â
I followed Sun-dong into the gym and thatâs when I noticed â everyone was staring at me. But unlike most people who stared at me, these people seemed rather hostile. As well as wary. Their gazes were as if they expected me to fail. All of a sudden, one of them approached me. He was very tall and well-toned. He stood right in front of me and started speaking.
âHi, there. Iâm Minho Lee, the Kick Specialist here. Iâll be teaching you how to kick.â
He finished with a small bow.
âNice to meet you,â I said with a bow of my own.
Minho then continued.
âIâm very strict, so I hope youâre ready to focus.â
âYep.â
