Chapter 259
The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)
Chapter 259 Noelleâs face grimaced as she touched her slapped cheek, but she went to help Samuel. âGrandpa, you should be resting. Let me help you back to bed.â
Samuel waved his hand and gently patted Noelleâs hand. âDonât worry, Iâm fine. Iâve been feelingbetter for quite some time!â he assured her. Then, he turned to Jade with a stern look. âI gave thoseshares to Noelle. Theyâre hers now, and she can do what she wants with them. If you want to talkabout outsiders, you should consider how youâre disgracing the family now, not Noelle.â
âDad, how can you say that?â Jade gasped in shock. âYou know we would never give away CityRing Corp.âs shares to strangers!â
âIs that so?â Samuel scoffed. âIt seems to me like thatâs exactly what youâre planning to do. Donâtthink I donât know whatâs going on just because Iâm old. Youâre not fooling me.â His sharp gaze madeJade uneasy, but she quickly replied, âJulian, Winter, and I are all Shaw family members. Ourshares would never go to outsiders. Noelle wonât even say who she gave her shares to, Dadâ¦â
âThatâs enough!â Samuel cut her off. âIf you have so much free time, you should focus on taking careof Winter. Make sure she doesnât embarrass us. Leave Noelleâs business to me and hergrandfather. It seems youâre too busy to care for both your children anyway.â
âDadâ¦â
âI need to rest now, so you should head back,â Samuel said, clearly done with Jade. He turned andwalked into the hospital room with Noelle, leaving Jade alone at the door, her fists clenched and herteeth gritted in anger.
She could not believe that Samuel, the stubborn old man, was so nice to Noelle. She also could notbelieve that Noelle managed to charm both Samuel and Sebastian so easily.
Once Noelle helped Samuel sit down, she opened the thermos and smiled warmly. âGrandpa, youwonât have to worry about these things from now on!â
âI donât need to worry about you?â Samuel did not agree. He looked at the bruise on Noelleâs cheekand said tenderly, âSilly girl, why didnât you dodge when she hit you?â
Noelleâs eyes twinkled with a mix of emotions as she tried to smile, but it hurt her cheek, making herwince. âGrandpa, you know my mom. If I had dodged, she wouldâve just tried again. And I reallydidnât see it coming!â
It seemed Noelle was used to this kind of treatment. âGrandpa, youâre not fully recovered yet. Whyare you out of bed?â
âIf I hadnât checked on you, would you have been able to handle your mom so quickly?â Samuelsaid, getting upset at the thought of Jade. He took the soup bowl from Noelle, sighed, and said, âIknow youâve been treated unfairly. Your momâ¦â
âLetâs not talk about her, Grandpa,â Noelle said, trying to change the subject. âTry the soup I madeyou this morning, okay?â
Samuel looked at Noelle, shook his head with a smile, and took a sniff of the soup. âIt smells 1/2 delicious. Noelle, your cooking just keeps getting better!â
âGrandpa, if you like it, have some more!â Noelle said as she pulled up a little stool to sit down. âIbought chicken just for you, and Charles said it smells great.â
Samuel smiled with his eyes, clearly happy. âCharles really looks out for you, doesnât he?â
