Chapter Wife 54
The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)
Chapter 54 Charles had just seen Ronald and the others out. Coming back, he caught Noelleâs incredulousquestion and chuckled. âYep, weâre married now.â
Noelleâs hands flew to her cheeks, surprised to find Charles right behind her. Flustered, she got toher feet quickly. âItâs late. I should head back.â
âNoelle!â Charlesâs voice stopped her in her tracks, and she halted, her steps halting just as quickly. She turned around stiffly, a puzzled âHuh?â escaping her lips.
Charles was barely holding back a laugh at Noelleâs adorably confused look. âItâs actually morning,âhe said.
Noelleâs cheeks flamed even hotter. âMorning?â It was probably the most embarrassed she hadever been around Charles.
Ever since meeting Charles, Noelle felt like her life had become a series of increasinglyembarrassing moments. Every encounter with him seemed to leave her more flustered than thelast.
Charles watched her, the teasing mood fading. He stepped closer and gently pushed a stray lock ofhair behind her ear. âYou want to head back?â
She nodded earnestly. âYeah, I really should go.â
Charles let out a sigh. âFine, Iâll take you home then.â
âNo, thatâs okay.â Noelle quickly declined, her words leaving them in an awkward silence. Charlesone to break it. âSeriously, look at yourself. How can you go home like that?â
Noelle glanced down at her outfit and felt her cheeks burn even hotter.
She had been wearing Charlesâs shirt the whole time. Sure, it was way too big on her and gave offthe wrong impression Then it hit herâRonald and those two staff members had been here earlier. She wondered if shehad been looking like this the entire time.
the Biting her lip, Noelle shot Charles a look of betrayal. âWhyâ¦. why didnât you tell me?â She was alady, after all. The staff might have been women, but Ronald was a guy!
That explained the weird looks Ronald had been giving her, always looking away so quickly.
Feeling a mix of sadness and embarrassment, Noelle thought about how nobody had bothered totell her what she looked like. She had taken a wedding photo with Charles looking like this. It wasjust⦠crazy!
Noelleâs face was now the color of a boiled lobster, and she felt like she wanted to disappear intothe ground. Charles was definitely to blame. He was the one who had put her in his shirt, andmarriage was supposed to be a big deal. How could he be so nonchalant about it?
While Noelle was dying of embarrassment, Charles was the picture of cool composure.
Charles watched Noelleâs face flicker with a mix of emotions, a playful smirk dancing on his lips. Hereached out, hands firm on her shoulders, trying to soothe her fiery spirit. Noelle was not havingany of it;
with a swift smack, she knocked his hands away. âCharles, you havenât seen the last of me!*
+15 BONUS A chuckle escaped Charles, âOkay, okay, I admit itâs my fault.â
His eyes took on a deeper hue, betraying a hint of delight at her feisty attitude. The memory of herslender, pale legs crossed his mind, and his gaze momentarily darkened. He rubbed the bridge ofhis nose, conceding, âTotally my fault.â
Deep down, he was not entirely selfless. The sight of Noelleâs legs had sparked a ratherembarrassing desire to have her beneath him.
He was, after all, a man with desires, and she was his rightful wife.
The night before, he had held back with everything he had, not out of chivalry but because he couldnot bear the thought of her waking up in a terrified daze.
As Charlesâs strong hands gently gripped Noelleâs shoulders, he could not help but acknowledgeher beauty, especially in his shirtâit added a certain allure. Dressing her up like this for the shootwas partly his own scheming.
With Ronald having been around earlier, Charles wondered for a moment: should he deal withRonaldâs prying eyes?
