Chapter Wife 56
The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)
Chapter 56 âDeal!â Noelle felt a weight lift off her shoulders; she was not keen on visiting the Shaw familyanyway. âIf I want to catch up with you, Grandpa, weâll just meet up somewhere!â
After hanging up, Noelle looked up to see Charles returning after a long absence, a gift box in handas he strolled up to her.
Her phone was still in her hand, her heartbeat erratic with anticipation.
Charles offered the gift box to Noelle, âYour clothes havenât dried yet. I picked this up for you towear in the meantime. I hope it works for now!â
âThanks!â Noelle snatched the package and eagerly tore it open to find a long, flowy dress thatseemed to shimmer with magic. She inspected it, noticing the tag was missing. However, the faintoutline of a logo and the feel of the fabric gave it away. It was a Saint Di creation, a brand famed fortheir exclusive designs.
âYou donât like it?â Charles inquired, catching Noelle off guard.
v size?â
She shook her head. âNo, itâs gorgeous. But how did you guess my The question escaped her lips before she could stop it, and Charlesâs knowing look sent a freshwave of blush across her cheeks. âIâll go try it on!â
She dashed for the bathroom, narrowly avoiding a collision with the door. Charlesâs voice followedher, al playful chuckle hidden in his warning to be careful.
Charles watched Noelleâs flustered retreat and couldnât help but shake his head with a wry smile.
To her astonishment, the dress fit like a glove, as did the lingerie. The thought that Charles, whowas still a mystery to her, could size her up with a single glance sent a shiver down her spine.
Noelle bit her lip, confronting her reflectionâs rosy cheeks. âGet it together, Noelle,â she scoldedherself, giving her face a light smack.
After a moment of selfâencouragement, she adjusted the dress with a shy tug and finally shuffledback out.
The bedroom was empty, and oddly enough, Noelle felt relieved. She let out a quiet breath, herhand resting on her chest. Then her eyes caught the sight of Charles emerging from the walkâincloset. Momentarily transfixed, she had always known he was fit; however, the man was a walkingmasterpiece, clothes hanging on him as if he was born to wear them Charles stood there, looking sharp in a lightâcolored, customâtailored suit that fit him like a glove. The suit had a modern twist to it, and the topâquality shirt he wore underneath was casuallyunbuttoned to the third button, showing off a hint of his tan chest. It gave him a laidâback vibe thatmade him seem approachable, despite his obvious class.
His cufflinks were nothing fancy, just a sleek silver pin design style.
however, they added just the right touch of Noelle could not help but be wowed the moment she laid eyes on him. It was like he could wear aburlap sack and still look like he stepped off a runway. She was totally hooked.
Charles casually adjusted his cufflink, catching Noelleâs gaze. He flashed a small, confident smile, his 1/2 +15 BONUS eyebrows lifting in a playful challenge. âWhatâs up?â
Noelle looked away, her smile lingering. She kept her thoughts to herself, though.
Just then, her phone ruined the moment with its insistent ring. Noelle gave an embarrassed grin, scooped up her skirt, and went to answer it. However, the name on the caller ID stopped her cold, her smilefreezing awkwardly on her face.
Charles caught the shift in her mood, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Noelle bit her lip and dismissed the call, only for the ringtone to stubbornly sound off again. Shefrowned, staring down the persistent caller.
Out of nowhere, a hand reached over and plucked the phone right out of her grasp. Charlesâs voice, low and smooth, floated down to her. âIf you donât want to talk to them, then donât. Indecision isnâtyour style.â
