Chapter 58
She Approved the Split He Fell Apart
058 The Fencing Gemini Scarlettâs POV I do not see the âdevilâ Aurora paints Adrian Dunn as, at all.
It was actually a huge pleasure talking to him. When I first reached out to Adrian, all I knew about him was his âthroneâ of being Sebastianâs nemesis, AND the million. complaints on how âmean and pettyâ he was from Aurora.
Apparently she was in a play and he made fun of her makeâup. He messed up her hair, and she fell when she tried to get back at him. Of course that made him laugh at her even more, and then he became Auroraâs enemy, and made it on every one of her blacklists.
I guess he grew out of the mean boy he was, opposite to Sebastian.
But the better he is to me, the more guilty I feel toward Aurora. I came to him because of our common enemy, but he wasnât.
âYou and Sebastian were best friends?!â I exclaim, my jaw on the ground. I never knew! Me! The biggest fan of Sebastian throughout these years, and yet I didnât know! How?!
âWe had a fall out...some years ago,â Adrian takes a shrug, looking indifferent, âthatâs when the rumor about us being nemesis started. I mean, you know media. Between good friends grew apart and good friends turning into enemies, of course, theyâd prefer the latter.â
âHow many years?â I demand. I had a crush on Sebastian since I was 7, and thatâs like, more than a decade ago! What he said doesnât sound like a decade ago.
âHmm...â Adrian hums, only to âforgetâ about the question. He could call me a beautiful lady, but THIS question he canât answer?
âI knew Sebastian since primary school,â I narrow my eyes at him suspiciously, âand I have never seen you two together, ever.â
âOhh, yeah,â Adrian seemed relieved when I explained my question, âI donât want to be seen with him, not after he turned stupid.
â?â I blink.
âYou know? He suddenly dropped fencing and started playing football,â Adrian rolls his eyes when he mentions Gabrielâs name, âWe were the fencing Gemini, did you 25 BONUS 058 The Fencing Gemini know that? And he dropped out on me all because of-
Ava.
Adrian gave a weird look when he pulled to that sudden halt, and I understood. Sebastian started playing football because of Gabriel, and that was when he suddenly became best friends with Ava.
Right after he saved me.
I didnât know Sebastian played fence though.
I feel like I see more sides of Adrian Dunn now besides Sebastian and Auroraâs views of him, and I like what Iâm seeing, is definitely still proud for being friends with Sebastian. I stared at his proud smirk when he said âFencing Geminiâ, stunned.
He is still that proud little boy who cared about his friend enough to be hurt by him, too.
âSpeaking of, did you know that Gabriel is starting a company? Footballer.â He says that name in a really funny way that I burst into laughter.
Sounds like the kind of stupid name that Gabriel would go with.
âGood for him,â I donât really care to know anything about Gabriel.
âWould you feel compelled to warn him if I tell you that he is in danger?â He looks at I me through the rear mirror, not directly at me.
âNope,â I let the âpâ bounce off my lips, ânot that he wouldnât ignore any warning from me.
but Iâd love to sit and watch.â
âI was just worried that you would feel guilty if you knew something but didnât tell,â He grins at me.
âWhy would I care about him when heâd open a champagne for my death? Do I look that stupid?â I roll my eyes. I was, not anymore.
Adrian Dunn has a look that says that he knew I was...
I Tsk. Does he know? There is no way...right?
But he dropped that topic anyway. In the end, I didnât get to know what âdangerâ Gabriel was in. Whatâs the worst that could happen? Lose the money for the startup, tops. His dear daddy has enough in the bank to cover his ass.
OSB The Fencing Gemini +25 BONUS He dropped me off downstairs of Auroraâs building, and under my insistence, he didnât walk me up like I was a child going home, but just watched me all the way to the elevator. He didnât drive off when I looked on from the hallway window on the 33rd floor.
He is leaning on the side of his car, looking up in my direction.
Seriously. I know he is being a gentleman, but he worries too much. I can literally hear Lilith and Auroraâs voices on the other side of her door. Damon would be happy- â his little trouble is having a sleepover with us.
But then my phone beeps. I look down, and see the worst happening-
A message from Ava: [Can you come out? We need to talk.]
