Chapter 80
She Approved the Split He Fell Apart
080 A Man In Love Scarlettâs POV I canât.
Even if I had to give the ambulance to Ava, I wouldnât go with her.
I canât let them know about the baby, not after this. Not when he would choose Avaâs life over mine. Not when Iâm still under the paw of Jack Fuller. God knows what horrible plan he would have for my baby who would be highly likely to share my rare blood type.
â
They can never know the babyâs existence.
âI have called the ambulance already, Jack,â Sebastian turns to Jack Fuller, âAnd Avaâs wound has stopped bleeding. She is not in danger.â
âSo?! Avaâs injured! She has to go to the hospital anyway!â Jack Fuller grunts in frustration, âAm I asking too much from her now, just to fucking share an ambulance?! Itâs the least to do for anyone who has any decency!â
Somehow I come off as the bad guys. Always. In their eyes.
âI think the basic decency is to at least say âpleaseâ when you are asking for a favor,â I stand up coldly, looking Jack Fuller right in the eyes, âinstead of acting as if the whole world owes you Mr. Fuller.â
âWhat did you just fucking call me?!â He turns to me with a shocked face.
Seriously? After our bad fallout, my addressing is the most shocking to him? I guess the truth that he raised me as a slave was too normal for him to notice how bad it was.
âJack!â Sebastian turns around, standing in front of me against Jack Fuller, his voice steady but dominant, âPlease, go attend to Ava. I need to talk to my wife, ALONE.â
Still dreaming of having Sebastian as his legit sonâinâlaw, Jack Fuller doesnât argue, but just leaves with an urging: âDo it fast.â
Sebastian turns to me, and Adrian folds his arms between us, apparently not planning on leaving.
âAdrian, can I have a moment with Scarlett?â Sebastian says to Adrian, apparently trying his best to hold his temper.
080 A Man In Love +25 BONUS âAnd let you take her blood for free, as if she owes you?â Adrian snorts, his tone icy cold. Thatâs why I never expected him to be âbest friendsâ with Sebastian. It just doesnât look like so.
âShe told you?â Sebastian cocks his eyebrow, more shocked than upset.
âWas she supposed to hide your horrifying doing?â Adrain ignores his question.
I didnât tell Adrian. How did he even know?
âScar, please,â Sebastian looks at me, ignoring Adrian. Sometimes I feel like he does feel guilty about using me as Avaâs blood vessel, in front of other people at least. Just not in front of me. I have no energy to deal with him, and I certainly have no interest in saving Ava this time, even if she wasnât cured.
But I should make things clear with him, once and for all.
âHmmm...â I hesitate, realizing I donât even know what to call Adrian, âCan I have a minute, please?â
Adrian looks at me with plaintive eyes.
âHe might not hurt you, but he didnât choose you,â Adrian furrows his eyebrows. deeply, pain written in his eyes, âplease...you donât owe him anything anymore...â
âI know,â I nod quickly, appreciating his care and worry, âI wonât go with him, and Iâm not giving them MY ambulance. I want to go to the hospital for a checkâup later. I just need a minute to clear things with him.â
If I didnât know better, Iâd say that the man in front of me is deeply in love with me, because his sorrowful puppy dog eyes light up with visible speed at my words.
âIâll go check with Jeremy. Call me if...â He glances at Sebastian with clear hostility, â...if anything happens.â
I only murmured thanks after he was too far away to hear me.
I didnât turn my eyes back at Sebastian until he cleared his throat. To be honest? Iâd rather stare at Adrian from afar for a whole day, versus talking to HIM.
Iâm angry at his choice, at his demand of my help, at this whole thing. And I donât like myself lashing out at people, even if I wasnât the one at fault.
Why canât these people see how horrible they are until pointed out by others in an ugly way? Why canât we just take our separate ways in a silent but less awkward +25 BONUS style?
âScar, how are you feeling?â Sebastian walks up a step, using a gentle tone that I have never heard before. A tone that says that he cares. He doesnât.
âSplendid. Havenât been better since your princess lured me to a death trap,â I turn to reach for the folder the police gave me, pulling out the divorce papers that the jerk. didnât sign, âI donât even want to know why you gave me an empty one. Just sign it here, please.â
