Chapter 106

Fucked up shenanigans

King Mafia and Mago

Through all the killing and chaos inside the building, the arrival of the fearful crime lord, brutal murders and screams, nobody noticed a man subtly weaving his way through those large hallways like a swift shadow. Carrying the air of power and falling every hurdle passing in his direction to the ground, Mr Xavier made his way along with his trustworthy partners Garnie and Alex in the building. They had entered from around the abandoned side of the old structure, the closed jammed doors that didn't open until used force, and made their subtle way ahead without a soul knowing.

The sight, was a great pleasure for the former lord as he smirked inwardly in satisfaction when the people inside were caught off guard while they fought with unity and projected their resilience against the King's imposing power.

Mr Xavier was although nonchalant while he killed mercilessly, but a storm of emotion brewed in his mind making him collect his composure every so often. Both his right and left-hand man beside him were efficient, as always, as they paced ahead cautiously but with blaring confidence, taking over half the burden of King so he could reach where he needed to be in time.

The weight of betrayal sat heavy in his chest while the whirlpool of sweet memories he had once shared thinking of mutual interest worked as a furnace, the heat of his actions turned out to be the worst luck of boss's men paying for the wrath of the former lord as dead bodies after dead bodies were what paved their way.

Clearing his passageway through blood splashes, knives and guns, Mr Xavier successfully stopped at the back side of the building where a crowd was already assembling, King had already arrived and the power show had begun. The sight of his small, pouty and clearly annoyed little son-in-law made the older pull an involuntary smile and he sighed in thankfulness seeing his child safe and sound, he then travelled his eyes towards the one behind the mask and his smile faltered gradually.

Betrayal hurts...

"Pardon my timing sire but.....Is that the boy?" Garnie hesitated beside Mr Xavier, curiosity getting the best of him, making the old man tilt his face in Garnie's direction. Alex remained silent on the other side, waiting for an answer as he scrutinized a faraway standing Mago with squinting but glaring, unsure eyes.

"Indeed he is. Why?" The older man chuckled with a raise of brow.

"He is just kind of s-small..." Garnie muttered lowering his gaze and Mr Xavier chuckled again. The right-hand man of Mr Xavier was ever so curious, his excitement to see the only son-in-law of his sire had piqued after being told about just once in life. The man was so eager that he couldn't wait to meet the precious queen of the empire and the one who had finally decided to steal King's heart.

But to his utter amazement and complete shock, Mago wasn't what he had expected.

Instead of the graceful, petite, shy and quiet boy Garnie had imagined, he saw a round, squishy, ethereally beautiful and in all honesty most annoyed with the world boy on earth making his jaw go slack with astonishment.

"don't let your thoughts reach my son Garnie......or worse that boy of his" Mr Xavier advised with a chuckle, he turned to face the crowd from their hidden spot and a frown etched his features instantly at the scene in front of him. Meanwhile, Alex caught the scenario where boss had grabbed Mago forcefully before placing a gun on his side. He turned to Mr Xavier with a questioning look but the latter held his hand up for them to wait. The former lord didn't deem it necessary to intervene yet since his son was more than capable of handling his matters alone and so he gestured his men to stand by side patiently.

From then it was a waiting game.

The banter between Mago and boss had begun and had started to take a peak. Like any other, Mago's fiery tongue had intrigued their interest as they watched how the little boy backfired each time with more intensity and left boss and Kangsu tongue-tied and offended.

While King stood their face palming.

Mr Xavier enjoyed the drama thoroughly, he leaned back on the wall as he watched the scene unfold in front of his eyes between the lovely Mago and the apparent boss who wasn't backing down a second of his life to get matters settled. He felt upset, well aware of the façade the boss had put on all this time, how he had concealed his true identity under the mask of the most caring and diligent person when came to family not to show his evil intentions.

The decision was not hard for Mr Xavier after getting to know the reality of someone he had cherished over his own life and accepted even after his son despised the mere idea of his presence around the house. That same man was behind the biggest conspiracies cooked against his only heir Raye Xavier and Mr Xavier was more than eager to put an end to it once and for all.

The discussion he had with his son stirred inside his mind, Mago's loud curses took his attention and he sighed disappointingly at the retorting man behind the mask.

It was truly messed up.

Flashback:

"How did you get suspicious of him father? I have crossed limits and stalked him more than once but never did we get anything until now........ Then how did you...." King admitted as he asked. Lowering his gaze down to his lap so he could avoid seeing his father's hurt face, King figured he would remain like that for the rest of the conversation. But as soon as Mr Xavier opened his mouth and started to speak, the son of his was at a loss for words at how serious and flat Mr Xavier's voice was.

"I didn't....not at first at least" the older started " Garry was going constantly missing and whenever I asked Jayce about his brother.....he would try to distract the conversation or completely shut the topic on me. Whatever answer he did give didn't justify it for me and so I started to pay close attention." The older continued and King listened to his father attentively as he shared a look with Charlton.

"Strange calls on his cell phone that I had never noticed before.......to his sudden midnight whispering in the balcony clicked my mind and that is how I traced him and his odd shenanigans to the events around us" Mr Xavier paused to take a sip of his wine, he wetted his throat and closed his eyes for a few seconds, as if in thoughts, while king sighed in understanding.

The crime lord knew how difficult was it for his father, it would be for anyone to get suspicious of the one you can never dream of a betrayal from. King knew his father was going through a jumble of raw emotions and he couldn't help but place his hand on Mr Xavier's knee silently before pressing them subtly.

Mr Xavier opened his eyes and through shining, glimmering eyes, he smiled at King.

"Garnie and Alex found it for you?" King asked, straying the conversation towards another direction so that the weight of the situation doesn't remain long.

The older man nodded his head with a sigh.

"but of course" Mr Xavier stated, slightly proud but at the same time teasingly as he glanced in Charlton's direction who was in the middle of an eye roll. The latter stopped in mid-act and looked down sheepishly as he was caught by the older being snarky.

Mr Xavier chuckled charmingly and then turned to face his son.

"but you should have talked to me Raye, should have confided in your father. Have I ever given you a reason not to?" there was a complaint behind his words that King was fast to catch, the frown on Mr Xavier's face pulled something in King and slid right beside his father in a quick motion.

"No father, never. You have never given me any reason instead, you always have my back whenever I need you even if I am this old" King stated honestly. Although tough and serious in nature, But he was a man who cherished and nurtured his relationships with care and necessary love, a trait very well visible and inherited from his father.

Xavier's, the protectors of the family.

"Then what stopped you, son?" Mr Xavier asked seriously, without a smile as he looked deep into king's eyes. King, on the other hand, hesitated a little, he was always cautious not to put any kind of strain on his and his father's relationship because of someone he didn't like but it seemed the time had finally arrived.

King had no other choice.

"I didn't have any proof of what I thought about him. He was always so collected and caring around the house, taking an interest in making everything perfect like he genuinely cared. It would have turned out as an accusation if I tried to confront him or talked to you. I didn't want the repeat of what had happened many years ago Father..." King stated his side of concern and the older man listened quietly.

Being reminded of the memories from years back, the great argument between a child Raye and the newly welcomed Jayce, brought the idea of king's turmoil to Mr Xavier. He never doubted Jayce's skills around the house, not because of blind love but because of how the other was perfect in portraying his diligent interest and investment in everything he did, but all that now displayed a dark intention of someone who was never intended to become a family.

"besides....you love him father and I didn't want to take that from you" King muttered lowly as if not wanting to be heard yet audible enough to be acknowledged. The former lord looked at his son and sighed with a tinge of fondness behind him.

King looked way more young and innocent than his reputation displayed him to be.

"I love you and that child who is in the claws of those cruel people as well Raye..." Mr Xavier started, King7 looked at his father heedful. "Love is a powerful emotion son. Where it should be unconditional for the ones who deserve it, it can be a lesson too for those who don't. Do you understand?" the older asked patting on king's shoulder.

"I understand father" King replied with a nod.

.......

"Sire..." a concerned whisper, produced by Garnie, snapped Mr Xavier out of his mind-consuming thoughts and his eyes zeroed in on the commotion in front of him. The boss was fussing over, showing tantrums, flailing his arms wildly as he refused to back down. He was causing more problems than the Xavier's were ready to tolerate and so the matters were to be ended by imposing ultimate power.

It was enough.

A dark expression layered Mr Xavier's features and his face hardened with intense emotions while he watched the masked traitor trying to fight off Charlton and Lucca. Slow and subtle he crept out of the shadows and marched with commanding steps until he towered the back of the wildly fighting boss.

Meeting his eyes once with his beloved pride, Mr Xavier raised his heavily loaded gun and nudged it right across boss's nape roughly making him stop his incredulous act and still in his place.

And then his voice boomed over the scene, like a pure nightmare boss and Kangsu could ever imagine.

"Enough Darling,......... I think you should stop. It is over" Mr Xavier said, voice calm like usual and aura commanding and unforgiving seeping out of him.

The silence that fell around the place was deafening, all the people stared at the man under the mask with wide eyes and questioning gazes. Mago was confused too but the boy remained under king's protective embrace and watched quietly as the scene started to unfold in front of him.

Kangsu had taken in a sharp breath, the tremble he felt in his body was otherworldly as he shivered to his core at the pure nightmare standing in front of him. Despite the cold, Kangsu felt beads of sweat forming on his forehead at the sight of the man he was most scared of in the entire world and the man he knew wouldn't forgive him no matter what.

The list of his deeds is long enough anyway

Meanwhile, the masked man stood still in his place, muscles tensed and stiff as if the iron was installed straight in him. He never moved nor did he utter a breath after hearing the voice he dreaded to hear in such circumstances. Everything was ruined, everything he had built through the years had collapsed to the ground, scattered into horrifying pieces that he was unable to regain.

Hearing those commanding steps moving and then rounding his frame made his breath hitch in his throat, he lifted his wavering gaze with so much courage he did know he could muster and the man, whom he never thought would know ever about his double life, stood in front of him.

Nonchalant and cold.

The icy gaze of Mr Xavier clenched something in his heart as he watched the older from behind his mask. And then his dark, scared, pleading eyes moved to the raising hand of the former lord towards his own face, before he could stop or utter a plea, the mask on his face was removed gently.

Exposing him and his evil existence to the world around him.

"Mr Ash!!...." Mago gasped in king's hold and Kangsu closed his eyes, he clenched his jaw tight and fisted his hands not to show how fucked up he felt while Mr Xavier hurled the mask to the ground roughly.

Jayce's eyes welled with tears instantly, lips trembled in silent plea as he stepped up towards his husband but Mr Xavier was far gone to return when he stepped back silently making it clear that he didn't want to do anything with the man at all.

Seeing that, a painful cry bubbled in Jayce's throat and he sobbed with tears streaming down his eyes to his cheeks now freely.

"R-Rowan.....please, let me explain please...." He begged, trying to get the attention of someone he treasured in his life. Mr Xavier was Jayce's everything and he felt stupid to gamble that 'everything' after his greed. The way the former lord had looked straight into Jayce's eyes, like he usually did, except for so much strangeness, so much coldness, and so much disconnection, it was evident that he had hurt the man deeply and there was no going back now.

"Take him away now Charlton......." Mr Xavier's commanded authoritatively. Mago looked at his enraged papa and then looked up at the almost saddened king with big innocent eyes, silently asking about the mess he didn't expect to escalate that much but all he got in return was a kiss on his head and a rub on his back.

He will probe more when they will be home.

"Rowan please......" Jayce begged again, snatching his arm away even before Charlton approached him. Now, if it was someone else than the husband of the former crime lord, Charlton would have given him solid a piece of his mind and his strength just because of the unnecessary resistance.

Oh well....

"......and shoot him for good if he gives you a hard time" Mr Xavier's voice boomed over both Jayce's begging and Charlton's clever thoughts. Jayce stilled once again at the use of tone of his husband, humiliating and scarring, while Charlton nodded his head and gripped Jayce's arm firmly before dragging him out of the building.

Mr Xavier watched him go without an ounce of sorry for his husband.
