Chapter 3: Glastieve's Household

The family of Glastieve was known to be unsociable to the public. They don't attract too much attention but they're power in nobility was in par in the kingdoms power just like the other three.

Glastieve dukedom didn't like public attention that's why whatever happens in the dukedom stay at the dukedom. All affairs are all been kept in the household and people outside won't hear a sentence of it.

The Glastieve household though really hard to see also attends is social gatherings and socialize. But, Duke of Glastieve is hard to approach. He only attends on parties when it's important. That's why he's picky.

Morin Gregory Glastieve, is the Duke of Glastieve. To all people he was known to a cold, heartless, unapproachable, cruel man. He descend on his position of duke when he reaches at his 17 years of age.

How young.

As soon as he was reigned as duke of Glastieve he went on war against the neighboring country. He was the leader that led the soldiers into victory that lasted for four years.

The achievements the duke made reaches everywhere even outside the country. Though everyone admires his greatness a lot of people still fear him within the rumors of him being a monster on battlefield.

Even a stare on him could make you shiver in fear. Truly a cold man. The moment the duke comes back at the capital a lot of letters swarm in his dukedom.

It was all about marriage proposals, congratulations, and many more. But, the duke just disregard it and order to burn it. Then, the duke reaches his age where he should get married. He was twenty three. Even though a lot marriage proposals were sent he only decide to choose a woman he particularly taken on his interest.

Her name was Aurelia Mircalla Sevonachiege. The eldest daughter of the marquis. Aurelia is kind woman. At first she didn't expect for the duke to accept her marriage proposal but it came to her surprise when the letters of Glastieve dukedom arrived.

The reason why the duke decided to marry Aurelia because she was not like other woman he saw trying to tie him up because of his power and wealth. Aurelia was different.

The news spread like a wild fire about the upcoming wedding of the duke. Some are happy and some are jealous to the soon-to-be wife of the duke and the future duchess.

The duchess and duke unbeknownst to people didn't actually love each other. The duke didn't love the duchess but cared like a friend. Same goes to the duchess. It was a political marriage, they said. The duchess also didn't love the duke but cared. They were mutual friends but not lovers.

Months after their marriage the duchess was revealed to be pregnant to the future heir of dukedom. Even the duke was overjoyed with the news. He will soon to be a father at last.

Aurelia, the duke's closest aids, and the duke's family butler only knew about the Duke's personality. He was good, gentle, kind man.

Yes, it true that he was heartless when it comes to the battlefield but no one will dare to hurt the ones he loved and cared. That's the man the duke was. A benevolent man despite all the rumors about him. Yet, to him the rumors are still helpful.

Morin and Aurelia's first born child was a boy. They named him, Raffaelo Arls Letonni Glastieve. And their second child after four months is Raffael Mavince Quin Glastieve.

It was one of the joyous days of dukedom. The birth of the two sons. But, it still lasted. The duchess died  after seven years because of the illness the duchess have in her heart that was too late to heal.

Morin, even though didn't love Aurelia he still deeply cared for her because to him she was his best friend. And that day, he lost her. Morin didn't drown himself to sadness because he still have his two sons to take care at.

His two sons despite if their mother's early death they grew up to be an astounding men. The first born is great at both his swordsmanship and controlling his powers. Raffaelo, the first born has the powers of ferrokinesis and air magic while Rafael, the second born has the powers of crystal magic and water magic, he's good at enhancing his mana.

It was then the duke adopted Evyterr. He didn't told everyone about the true background of Evyterr for safety. The reason the duke adopted Evyterr was because he was used to be like him when he was a child. The Duke, Morin

Gregory Glastieve, never experienced a happy family. He's parents always fight each other and they didn't care about him.

That's why he strive to give his full affection to his sons even though their mother is dead. The duke knew his sons didn't like Evyterr but he knew they will used to it.

And it was miscalculation. Because of the duke's busy work and going out of the capital he didn't give to much attention on his third son that grew distant to him. That made Count Beren took the opportunity.

The reason why the duke agreed to the count's deal was because it would made Evyterr grow to a good environment whereas he doesn't need to live with his sons. Morin knew that his sons hate Evyterr that's why he wants Evyterr out of the house to avoid feud between the three of them and give him a nice environment away from the two.

It was unknown to him what clearly happened to Evyterr the last seven years in the count's manor. The count was clever. To avoid suspicions about what happening to Evyterr in his house he send false information about Evyterr's condition in his care.

The count made learn Evyterr about arts, playing instruments, aristocracy, nobility, war, mana controlling, and many more. So, that the duke won't suspect that Evyterr inside his manor beside from torturing him was learning efficient too.

It's true that the count made learn everything but for every two months Evyterr was in his manor he was just lock up on a room where there are piles of book he needed to learn. And tools he needed for music and arts. He needs to finish reading and mastering everything the count gave him or else he will greatly punished.

Raffaelo, the first born, was not in a good relationship with Evyterr. Even though Raffaelo was a servant of justice he didn't like Evyterr for being a gold digger and his behaviors. Inside the dukedom everyone was talking about how violent and spoiled his new brother. Hurting his maids and attendants, punishing them from their incompetence severely and wasting their father's money on buying useless stuff.

He was used to the rumors about him and believed it was true. Raffaelo was a hardworking man, he's kind and smart with a cold face. He was 15 years old when he joined Iris together with his brother, Rafael who was 14 years old.

In Iris one of their goals was to hunt the people who are corrupted and doing crimes out if the law. And Evyterr was one of the suspected criminal in their list. It was unsure because they lack evidence and information about him. That's why they hired Theseus, also a member of Iris to eye on him. They find a few information about him because Evyterr's background was private.

They knew Evyterr was the reason of losing thousands of money in the casino and illegally purchasing items on the black market.

Due to the crimes Evyterr made he was bound to be arrested when there's enough evidence to point him.

Another member of the Glastieve family was the second born, Raffael, he was a jolly and cheerful child except the fact that he also despise their youngest. He was excellent at controlling mana and everything that involves in his powers. The Glastieve family is blessed with full control on mana through out their ancestors. That's why they are good in any aspects of magic.

"Where is my father, Mr. Frey?" Raffaelo asked as soon as he arrived at the estate after he came from the capital's plaza to buy some resources together with his brother.

Mr. Frey was a middle aged man, he is the household's butler leading all maids and servants in the house. He greeted the eldest young master of the house with full courtesy.

"Good afternoon, young masters. The duke is inside of his office. He just came back after his trip from the northern border of our land." Mr. Frey said accompanying the two masters to the dukes office.

"Frey, how many days that bastard departed?" Raffael asked. His demeanor changed when he talks about him. He was always sees as a merry person but it was not in his face today.

"Exactly one month already, young master." Frey answered. When they reach into the dukes office the butler excused himself and left them.

It was Raffael who opened the door revealing inside their father waiting for them on his seat.

Their faces became serious including the duke. What they about the talk about matters to the dukedoms future assets. "What findings did you saw, Raffaelo?" The duke asked.

The two sat on the couch in the opposite sides. Raffael gave the reports they gathered to their father.

"We knew that it was Count Beren who was responsible for the embezzling of our money. Also, we found out that he was the one responsible for the mess in our northern border and the attempt of poisoning you and brother for the second time." Raffael reported. They look at their father who was reading all their reports and listening to them.

As soon as he read all their reports his face darkened in madness. A realization hit him! Evyterr! Evyterr is in their manor!

"Your brother! We must get him out of there!" Their father screamed in anger. Why did he only realize this?! Evyterr's is in danger!!

"Father! What are you talking about?! Isn't he on the boarding school on the Valic's capital?!" His eldest was yelling in confusion. What? What boarding school is he talking about!?

"Who told you that, Raffaelo?! Your brother was not on the boarding school! He was staying on Count's Beren for almost seven years! He was home-schooled there!"

"W-what?" Both brother was surprised and confused. All this time they knew that the boy was on the Valic's capital and only came home after two months.

"I said who told you that, Raffaelo!?" Their father yelled furiously. Raffaelo was stunned and could not speak. And it was Raffael who answer this time.

"T-the reports! Their is also documents that the count gave when we asked about Evyterr's whereabouts! He said he was on Valic's boarding school!" Raffael was also distressed. He knew that the boy won't tell them anything! What if he was secretly abused in their household and he didn't tell them!?

Even though he was truly despised by them they were, of course, be bothered about his wellbeing! Shit! This is shit! Raffael cursed in his mind.

No wonder the reports from Theseus about Evyterr is suspicious!

"I'll kill that bastard! No one will dare to hurt anyone in his household! Both of you gather the knights and magicians. We will attack them on full force." The duke said trying to calm his anger. Both sons was troubled about the new information they heard.

They did what they were ordered. After gathering all the force, Raffaelo and Raffael asked assistance from the Iris. The count was one of their targets. Its better if they have a lot allies especially the Iris.

"What happened, Raffael?" Theseus who was confused about what's happening asked the troubled friend.

"We must hurry, Theseus. My father is mad about the Count's treason and...."

Theseus can see how stressed Raffael was. "And?"

Raffael took a deep breathe away from his thoughts. "Evyterr. Evyterr was not on the boarding school. He was on the Count's manor. We were given a false information." Raffael explained. Theseus was shocked. But how? The boy didn't said anything about it?! Oh, goodness! Why would he!

The butler fixed his expressions after asking again, "Where is Raffaelo?"

"Brother asked our members to prepare for our plan on sneaking at the count's underground during the chaos." Raffael signed after continuing.

"And a rescue mission for Evyterr."

Theseus frowned. "Who will take the lead on our rescue mission?"

"My brother, of course, we will find him after the our job on the underground."

Requesting the members of Iris. Involving at Mission Apocynum. Prepare and ready on stand-by.

That was the telepathy ability of Casimir, another member of Iris.

'I just wish nothing happened to that bastard.' Raffael thought with a small hint of worry for the first time.
