"hey" trevor said to me as we meet with him and jamie.
"hi, trevor right?" hehe.
"yeah, and you're dotty aren't you?" he smiled.
"mhm" i nodded my head.
"so how are you guys?" jamie voiced to both me and sherri.
"we're good. we had a nap before we came here because we were really tired" i said, trying to keep the conversation alive. they chuckled. "what about you guys?"
they looked at eachother and nodded, "we're good" they smiled. sherri and jamie started having their own conversation, so i asked trevor a couple of questions to make it less awkward.
"so..where are you from?" i asked looking up at him. i sounded stupid. "i mean i know you're from america but-"
"i'm from bedford, in new york" he chuckled. "but i work in california"
"that's so cool, i went to new york when i was in like year three or something" i remembered
"year three?" he tilted his head to the right.
"i think that's second grade in america"
"ohh" i giggled along with him.
"what about you? where are you from?"
"oh just a little town on the boarder of london.
"i've always wanted to go to london, you're so lucky." he smiled. his smile was so pretty.
"yeah it takes like five minutes to walk to london from where i live. but not the london your thinking of. that takes like an hour or so by train" i explained.
"you say 'like' a lot" he laughed whilst i looked shoes at my shoes, embarrassed.
"uhh you mentioned you worked in california? what's your job?" i acted completely innocent.
"well, me and jamie play for a professional ice hockey team over there. you interested in ice hockey?" i shook my head.
"no i've never been to one, like ever. they've never been on the telly at home. probably because it's not a very big thing over there" he stood in shock as if i had just killed someone, his mouth wide open like a cod fish. "what? did i do something wrong?"
"you've never watched an ice hockey game?" i shook my head. "how?"
"like i said it's not a massive deal in britain" i shrugged. he chuckled as we moved forward in the que. we were getting close to the front of it.
"do you have a job?" i snorted.
"yep. i'm a cat sitter" i chuckled. "i'm taking a gap year in school right now. i start college this september"
"you're a cat sitter?"
"yeah i know it sounds stupid, i prefer just like cats. i prefer them to dogs" i simply said.
"no, no, no, it's not stupid. but wait hold on, you prefer cats to dogs?"
"and what?" i defended.
"dogs are better"
"um no"
"um yes. i actually have one in fact"
"um no. and so do i in fact" i mocked him.
"oh yeah? well-" trevor was cut off by jamie.
"come on you guys, we're going in now" 'you guys' is the most american phase i've heard all day. i started to fiddle with the rings on my hand. i was getting really nervous. a hand grabbed mine, making me stop.
"you alright?" trevor asked me. i nodded back.
"yeah i'm fine. i'm just a bit anxious and nervous about the inside. i get claustrophobic sometimes" i weakly smiled. his fingers started to rub my hand.
"you'll be fine. plus you have me, your sister whose name i can't remember, and jamie with you" i laughed. "if you need air at any point, just tell me okay" i nodded.
as we entered the club i was hit with a cool breeze coming from the air con above us. that was nice. the place was massive.
