yes to heaven - trevor zegras

it had gotten to about 3 in the afternoon when we started to head back to our hotel.

"there's fireworks tonight" sherri said.

"how d'you know?" i asked.

"mum told me"

"how come she didn't tell me?" i questioned, knowing what she was going to say before it came out of her mouth.

"cause i'm the favourite" she said in a 'duhhh' way. to which i rolled my eyes. "so i think we should all go" she said looking in between trevor and jamie. but they were a bit distracted, as they were taking pictures of each other with the shot glasses they had gotten and giggling at one another. "helloooo??" sherri dragged which got their attention.

"hm?" sounded jamie.

"there's fireworks tonight and we're going" she simply stated as she had already decided that we were going.

"what time are they?" trevor asked.

"dunno, it has to get dark so around eleven-ish. we can ask someone at reception. we probably don't have to pay or anything." she replied and they boys nodded in agreement. that was when jamie decided to speak up.

"there are rocks around the edge of the beach, over there," he pointed not that far in the distance "and i think we should watch them from there. it'll be a better view watching the fireworks from there rather than standing with a whole crowd of people."

"we can find out where they're showing them when we get back to the hotel"

Time passed too quick after our trip to the market. As soon and i knew it we treading lightly on the sand, trying not to get sand in our shoes, on our way to the fireworks. i can remember how nostalgic it was. even though ri and i had never been here before, and we had only met jamie and trevor a couple of days ago. it's difficult to explain but it was just so much fun.

ri started cartwheeling down the sand towards a crowd of people, who were presumably waiting for the lights to begin. she was whooping and once she had stopped, she had to grab my arm to steady her dizzy self. she looped her arms through mine and skipped a few steps away from the boys. she was giggling away to goodness knows what.

"what's so funny?" i asked with a smile at her happiness. her shoulders lifted and fell.

"i dunno, maybe the fact that jamie asked me to be his girlfriend before we came out" she said ever so casually, her eyes wondering to our surroundings. i stopped in my tracks and gasped, now giggling along with her.

"shut up. did he actually?" she nodded her head and grabbed my hand and we once again carried on walking. i slapped her arm playfully and she laid her head on my shoulder.

"that's so sweet sherri. i'm happy for you guys" i said.

"do you think trevor will ask you?" she looked up to meet my vision from my shoulder. i didn't like this question. as if we were psychic we looked behind, back at trev and jamie behind us to see them in a deep conversation. they looked up and smiled. we turned back around.

"i'd like to think so. but i don't think he will if i'm being honest" i said looking down at the sand sinking beneath my feet, although a smile still lingered on my lips.

"why's that?" i wasn't even sure myself, but it was just a gut feeling.

"i just feel like when we go out separate ways we won't stay as much in contact as we thought we'd be" i replied.

we walked in a comfortable silence until the boys caught up with us.

trevor's pov

as dotty and sherri strolled ahead, jamie and i were left alone.

"look, if i'm being honest man, i don't think dotty and i are gonna work out once we leave" i admitted to jamie. it was the only thing i could do.

"i don't want us to be that couple who are long distance and only see each other once every two months. and also if we were still together during the season, people would find out and she wouldn't like all the attention and i'd get chirped about it and-

it just wouldn't work" it pained me so much to say it.

"have you told dotty about this then? i think you should do it pretty soon. we're leaving tomorrow dude c'mon" jamie said. kicking the sand gently as we trudged behind the girls. at this very moment, they turned around in sinque. i offered dot a smile and she returned it.

"that was creepy"

"they definitely planned that"

dot and sherri had made it to the crowd of people and we quickly joined them. i snaked my arm over dotty's shoulders and leaned into her warmth.
