Chapter 39

-39-

.Elementals.

"I never thought I'd see someone like you here." I turned my eyes to the side to meet with unfamiliar yet familiar eyes. (this is for you friend, remember what we said for your character.)

I stared into blue dragon like eyes.

Silver hair was possible to others but rare but eyes like mine I never heard off.

"How..."

"Yeah strange they let me come righty? Well it isn't that I wanted to anyway." She had long brown hair and didn't speak like a noble. I couldn't read her face as her mouth was covered with leather mask, her whole get up was black leather with a huge halberd axe on her back, she was Calypso's height but I had never seen someone like this.

"Your eyes."

"Yeah I know we the same but don't worry your head amma not say shit." I was confused at what she was talking about.

"Michell." A girl walked up to grab her arm. "Lets go the trial l start." Was all she said, dressed in a similar outfit without the mouth cover, I just watched them go.

"You know she came to size you up right?" Em said, walking up to me, having seen but not not heard what she said.

"Yeah I know." I said, thinking about what the hell she was talking about, maybe the eyes.... That could mean she is really powerful too... Do humans with a lot of power develop dragon eyes? I got to do research.

I looked around and raised an eyebrow, walking to a sleeping figure, nudging them with my boot.

"Who dares to awake me?!" Oh gods, she looks really young but from her get up and simply that remark I could say it wasn't the case.

"Trials are starting, wake or be disqualified."

"And who are you to talk to me like this?" She is arrogant and looks at me as if I was lesser, not another Ethan kind of person.

"The court mage, silver dragon."

"Well silver dragon you'll get ma boot in the shin!" And childish. "You don't fuck with Bonnie Brittle of Bravereá!"

"I don't care for whatever tittle you have, I was just being fair." I waved of the uneasy feeling I got for a second, glancing at her weird get up and bag before shrugging and turning away. "I didn't want to easy of a win."

"As if you could win, you'll see silver dragon." She crossed her arms with a huff and I was already done speaking with anyone else for the day, walking away.

"Em, end me now."

"I can't do that Mysty we got trials to win."

"Competitors!" Unlike yesterday today if was Calpso's voice that rang out over the crowd. "As you know several acres have been set up for this event but the next trial will not take place in here. The first trial was about mental strength and the second shall be abut you endurance! Each of you has been given a necklace with an orb, the orb will track you. The trial is of observation and direction along with endurance, each and everyone one of you will be set free on the obstacle course on which you need to navigate and search for the next obstacle, the first ten to complete the course will be exempt from the second part of the trial that will not yet be revealed."

I cracked my neck and fingers, ready to go.

"One rule my dear competitors, no casualties but anything else is in the rules! Remember this is elimination rounds like always so if you don't complete the course, don't follow the right way or get stuck somewhere you are out! Please and go!" She said, a confused whisper ran through the crowd.

My eyes widened as I created a gust of wind under my feet to send me over the crowd and running, first obstacle was getting to the obstacles.

Two bushes were grown to the size of trees so that was the 'exit gate'.

Soon enough the others realized this and I was caught up with fast.

I created a trail of flames from my feet and spun on myself, leg raised, sending the flames at those that followed close behind while I let out a blast of fire from my other leg still on the ground, sending me up in the air and over the shallow but wide river.

I waved my hands and I landed on a block of solid water, not ice, crouching before it burst to send me up again and onto the other side.

Tho right as I landed I heard other do too.

I saw a single lumberjack chopping at a tree truck before pulling his axe back and wiping his forehead, an arrow cut in the tree.

I ducked under a wind blast as someone overtook me, following the way into the forest the arrow pointed to.

I raised my arm to catch a low tree branch that sent me flying in the air and with a blast from my feet sent me further.

I slammed my foot on the head of the elemental mage that got my first place and used his head to push off it while letting a small lightning charge escape it so while I was sent forwards by my push he got shocked and fell over.

I rolled to keep my momentum and got too my feet, the course mustn't be too long as these orbs' don't do long distance.

I stopped, there was a pond that lead to a river and a waterfall lead into the pond.

My eyes scanned the area fast before stopping on the old wooden sword leaning against the rock side of the fall, the hilt was broken off so with the guard and blade it formed an arrow pointing down.

I took a deep breath and jumped in.

With magic I didn't need to swim, making the water push me.

I silently cursed the waterfall as I saw another sword, this time steel, pointing up, I needed to get through the wall of falling water.

I just blasted air to create a hole I shoved myself through with the water and emerged in a cave.

I took a deep breath before I heard splashes and saw Em and a few others go right through the waterfall.

I lifted my arm and threw it out, icing the whole stone ground and the Lazar that was in front of me fell over as I slide over the ice as fast as if I was still running, jumping when the ice stopped to keep me boots from grabbing the stone.

I yet again made a fire trail follow my feel to see in the dark cave system, Em a few feet in front of me but I had no wish to fight him as we were fighting for the same queendom.

We arrived at a crossroad of caves, crystals shining in the lights of my flames to hovering in small fire balls a inch away from my heels.

He seemed impressed by this, after all it isn't any day you see someone bend magic with a part of their body which isn't their hands.

I kicked out my feet towards the entrances to send new fire balls flying in them but nothing.

"That way!" I yelled to him, noticing something, he followed without a word.

One of the caves had a small purple crystal above it while the others didn't and this was the only purple gem, almost red because of the flames' hue, purple is what the princess has for her eyes so it must be the way.

Despite the advance we took each time, there were always soon someone on our tail, I let the fire trail set the stone ablaze to give us a bit more distance between the elf and orc that were right on our asses.

Exiting the cave led to a cliff with a huge ravine that was large but we needed to cross I am sure.

"Mysty!" I grabbed his arm as he spun me and sent me flying, I threw my arm back towards him and a vine seed from my pouch grew and wrapped around my body and arm to grab his and I yanked my arm in the other way, throwing him without letting him go.

He reached his other arm out and the branches of the trees answered, wrapping his other arm as he pulled on my vine to pull me with.

It was a bit of a crash landing but we made it through, I quickly put the vine away back as a seed and got up, sprinting like a mad woman with him in front.

The town streets were empty as we ran through them in a straight line, competition not far behind, those with a grasp on magic having surely gotten across.

Test of endurance this sure is that, sprinting through the whole trial with swimming and jumping with also a trial about observation.

It was a straight line through the town before a dead sprint towards the bush/tree entrance again.

Someone zoomed passed us... How the hell Ethan?!

Em threw his arm out for me to grab and I did and with an almost war cry he stopped his body and with another spin set me flying with all his and my momentum as one.

I landed both feet on Ethan's back and slammed him in the ground, my legs buckling from the shock but I shoved myself into a half-assed tumble roll through the 'gates' making me the first.

I had just given the tracking orb back and glanced at Em's score of being the 7th because he helped me before I walked away, not even waiting to hear the second part of the trial as I wouldn't participate because I won a place in the top ten.
