Chapter Twenty-Three
Fallen From Grace | BOOK 1 ✔️
Pierce's P.O.V
"This is madness!" I yell putting some distance between the main doors and my pack mates. Tristan and Kenzie comes and stands beside me, but we're greatly outnumbered.
"They have your father Pierce! Does that mean anything to you?" Someone within the crowd of my packmates shout.
I can hear the screams and cries of the Northern men and women as more of my pack-mates left out to the sides instead of the main entrance. A lot of them already had gotten in before my arrival.
Cassius be all right, I pray to the Goddess above you are all right. My eyes look around for the harbringer of chaos, Isaac. However, he is no where to be found.
"It does matter to me. The North would never do anything to harm my father. He is a Beta for Goddess sake! Turn around and go back. We cannot leave our own territory unprotected!"
There are some muttering and descent yet some do as told. Others still continue to stick around with blood and chaos on their minds. A majority of them had lost many loved ones through out the year by them and they've been itching for another opportunity like this for months.
"Spilling more blood will not bring back the dead!"
"Sure as hell will make me feel better!" a woman shouts causing me to clench down on my teeth.
"Honor their memory!" another man shouts.
"Isaac is already in there, hell bent on killing that Alpha! Why can't we do the same with our own grudges?" another woman questions causing my eyes to widen. Kenzie looks at me with horror written all across her face and Tristan looks just as confused as he's always been.
Without another word I run off towards the sides and strip off my shirt. I immediately start my transformation into my wolf. After leaving Cassius I had picked up scents of my kin near by and found the pack of them close to knocking at the door of the Northern territory. Had I known Issac would lose all sensibility, I would have never left his side.
He was never stable to begin with.
I shake my head and rush through the plethora of trees down towards the burning houses and buildings. Cassius, please be all right. I pray to Goddess ,Avatea, above for your safety.
The smell of blood filled the evening air with nothing but the lives of both my kinsmen and his. My head turns left and right looking through the carnage for my mate. All I can do is look for him. Everything else just seems to fade into the distance.
My wolf becomes frantic, desperate almost so much so he forcefully broke down my wall of communication allowing me to hear every single Northern wolf in battle. I shake my head at all the sounds coming from dying wolves and their final goodbyes to their loved ones. Why would you want me to hear such things? I mouth bitterly to my wolf.
I sink my claws into the dirt as I see pack-mates slaughtering these wolves like cattle. None of them are Cassius, I think but the undying nerve to help them permeated through my mind. I don't have time for them!
Despite my thoughts, I end up grab one of the first wolves I see off of the smaller one. His mouth is covered in its blood as well as his fur. Even though he knows who I am he lunges at me. Once then twice he makes a grab for me, until I sink my teeth into his neck and turn it sharply before I hear the timely snap.
I release his limp body from my mouth as I taste the acrid, iron taste of his blood coating my tongue. "Get your family and go!" I shout to the she-wolf looking at me with wide beady-brown eyes. Hurriedly, she stands up on all four and starts off towards the burning wood buildings.
Not a minute after do I come across a scrimmage of both my pack mates and Cassius' fighting with reasons of their own. Dying wolves laid everywhere along with the bodies of the deceased. I turn my head at the contradicting values skewing my decision process as to what to do.
I have to find him! I stress, but my wolf will not allow it. I ignore him and sift pass the onslaught and into an even bigger one. Blood came gushing out of my comrade's neck as the were savagely tore into him. Too many scents are present for me to find his particular making me become sick with worry.
"Pierce, you're here! Fight with us. Let's end them now!" My green eyes pierce into the were mind-linking me. Soon, I turn my head and pace around looking for a wolf similar in color to his auburn hair. I want no part of this...massacre. All I want is to insure my mate's safety. It's what I crave...I can't help it.
My heart soars out of my chest at Gabriel's form covered in the blood of our fallen comrades. He eyes me with a glare that could kill if possible. "I told you. I warned you...Now...this is what you have to live with." His head turns away from me as I notice his voice is on the verge of tears.
Walking a little closer I see a dead she-wolf throat torn open. I back up and begin to shake my head as my eyes begin to burn at the thought. "Help me find him. I marked him, Gabriel. He could...something could happen to him because of me. I need to find him!"
"Lily is dead!" He whines out.
"I'm sorry. I really am...but Cassius...help me find him...please," I beg him with a voice threatening to break. My feet move a little closer to him as I nudge him with my muzzle. His eyes, full with tears, nods.
"Three days...Pierce...he'll be weak for three days...if he did not mark you because it's only half complete."
"I know. Goddess I know. That's why I need to find him. I have to." I can't hide it any longer. I'm scared.. I'm absolutely afraid of something happening to him... I ignore the cries of our injured comrades and focus on finding the scent of my mate through the chaos.
Soon enough, I spot Tristan and Kenzie nearby pinned under much larger weres. Our own packmates. I quickly pounce onto the back of one of the larger ones and sink my claws into his back as I trail down his back. He tries to shake me off, but it's too late. I sink my teeth into his neck and shake it back and forth until that familiar snap sounds and his body goes limp.
"The traitors! Kill them on spot! Isaac's orders!"
Once Gabe finishes off the other one I push Kenzie to her feet thanking the heavens I found them in time. "Go! The both of you! There is nothing here but bloodshed. Go somewhere...far far away and never come back." Kenzie nudges my face before licking it and taking off. Despite my order, Tristan fights to stay behind.
"Tristan go!" I shout as I feel the four of them nearing.
"I can't leave. Stevens he's...he's still here. I have to find him." My eyes widen then narrow before I hit him roughly with my muzzle.
"You idiot," I growl angrily.
"Says the one who falls in love with a rivaling Alpha!" My heart sinks to my stomach at the realization that if he knows, so does Isaac. Gabe looks at me with the same expression Kenzie showed on hers not too long ago. Isaac is going to kill him.
All my sentiments and upheld values of my pack diminish under the weight of the thought of losing my mate to someone I am supposed to honor and obey. He is my mate for Goddess sake! I can't have harm come to him.
"Isaac, where is Isaac Tristan? Tell me!"
"Over by the Garden of Life...the last time I saw."
I bolt down the cobblestone streets with Gabriel following close behind as well as Tristan. When their's Stevens their's Cassius. That is his main reason for coming with us and I don't care.
My eyes widen the moment I smell his blood hit my nose. I leap over the burning roofs threatening to cave under and into the center and see Isaac with blood coating his white fur. Instantly, I begin searching for him and find him in all his ravaged beauty along with Stevens.
Thank the Heavens for Stevens. For once in my life, I am thankful for his presence. I thought the day would never come.
Just as I am about to make my way over to him I feel teeth sink into my flesh causing me to yelp out. Another set of teeth bite into my torso as its body weight sinks on top of me. I do my best to wrestle them off once I see Stevens being distracted with fighting off Archer and Derrick.
In less than a second, I smell another gush of blood coming from my mate causing me to become frantic to get to him. Just as I am rising another set of canines bite into my neck bringing me back down onto the ground.
I watch as Cassius sinks his teeth into his neck causing him to cry out. He throws him off of him like a swatting a fly making me struggle more as I feel his murderous aura from here. As I thought he would, he gets back up and more and more of his blood comes pouring out.
"Watch me Pierce...I'll correct the error of your ways." His voice is filled with malice and dreadful promise.
I press upward with all my strength and shake two of them off of me. I ignore the pain and the blood coming from me and push to get them from on top of me. As soon as I try to dash off, Gabriel comes and tackles me down into the grass.
A quick swipe with my paw causes him to tumble off of me. I roll back on my stomach and get up in a rush trying to get to him as soon as I possibly can, however he jumps onto my back and knaws his teeth into my flesh till I bleed out causing me to yelp out in pain.
Before Isaac can land a fatale blow Stevens gets in the way taking the blunt of the blow. It only makes Isaac show a wolfish grin. "All you Northerners are stupid, little things. Pathetic." He throws Stevens away like a rag doll and continues his focus back on Cassius.
I move and wiggle to get up as tears start to burn through my eyes. "Get off of me! Cassius! Cassius!" He leans a little off of me opening up an opportunity to get from under him. In less than a second, I have Isaac pinned under me away from my mate.
"You would defy me?"
"He's my mate. I'd never let anything happen to him."
"All the more reason to kill him then."
Archer comes and knocks me off of him. Gabriel bites down against one of my hind legs, but I resist the urge to fall down; not when there is so much at stake if I do.
I hear Gabriel howl as Cassius tears into his fur. My hind leg is released but Isaac ends up swiping at my underside landing a few marks here and there. Archer begins to circle around me and tries to attack while Isaac had me distracted. I dodge effortlessly and get to Cassius' side after so long.
Tristan comes out from where I came from and pushes Gabriel off of the edge while fighting off Archer and Derrick. Isaac continues his circles around us making me stand instinctively in front of Cassius, but he pushes me out of his way showing him his fangs. Isaac shows his. I step in front of him again causing Isaac to wrap his teeth around my neck.
I yank away and ground mine into his shoulder until I can taste blood. He smacks me with his claws causing me to draw away, but only for a short moment. I come back and aim for his neck then his other shoulder. Each time I draw blood and each time he draws some of mine.
Cassius tries to go around me and attack him from the side but more of my pack-mates comes and charge towards us turning it into a even more uneven brawl. In a quick second, I lose sight of him causing me to become distracted leaving my neck open and vulnerable. It allows for Isaac to rip a good chunk of fur from my neck. I yelp out and muscle down the pain.
Still, I look for him.
Without me even noticing Isaac slips away from and go towards his direction. Once I notice what's happening I smell a gush of blood and a yelp come from him. My heart starts hammering out of chest as my wolf shuddered under the thought of someone harming him.
I look aimlessly around my surrounding until I see an arrow with a silver point directed in Cassius' direction. Without hesitation, I rush in between him and the arrow allowing it to pierce through to my chest.
Everyone stops once my body hits the ground with a loud thud. The wind escapes my lungs at the impact making it harder to breathe and keep my eyes open. I could feel every bit of the silver coursing through me causing an unbidden transformation to start in attempt to dispel the silver.
"Go." I try to communicate to him but all he does is whine and whimper beside me. Soon he begins trying to tug at the arrow petruding out of me. He does nothing but snap it and push it in further making me howl out.
"Stop what you are doing now or more arrows will come." A brown-haired man states before drawing another arrow into his crossbow. A human contraption. Five more of them come up with bows and arrows notched ready to fly.
The humans.
I growl nudging and pushing him away from me with a fervor, but all he does is come back.
I want him to go. I want him to leave. He has to.
"Transform, Beasts, before we launch more."
