Vile Boys: Chapter 65
Vile Boys (Spine Ridge University)
Caleb throws what looks like all the guns and weapons they have in their arsenal into the back of his car.
âAre you sure we need that much?â Blaine asks. âWeâre only three people.â
Crystal gulps. âI think I only count for a half, tops.â
âDarling, you have that all wrong,â Blaine says, and he chucks me a knife in a way that couldâve stabbed me, but I manage to catch it. He winks. âSee?â
Sighing, I tuck it into my pocket. âIsnât there a side entrance we can take to get in without getting in danger? There has to be an easier way than this.â
âNope,â Caleb replies, throwing even more in a box. âTorres has every exit guarded, and he probably knows weâre coming because heâll force Ares to talk.â
âAnd then heâll tell those Bonesmen all about us,â Blaine adds.
I shiver in place. Ares saved me and then killed those people for me.
I have to save him.
I push Caleb aside and steal more knives from his box, as well as a gun, loading it up. He looks at me like he canât believe his eyes.
âWhat?â
âYouâre serious?â he asks.
âDead serious. Heâs in there suffering because of me, so Iâm gonna be the one to pull him out, and if I have to kill a bunch of people to do it, then so be it.â
A grin slowly spreads on his cheeks. âNow youâre talking my love-language.â
âIâm already in love!â Blaine professes, running up to me to hug me so tightly I can barely breathe. âOh, I trained you so well, darling. Iâm proud.â
I physically have to pry my own body out of his hands, and I pull out my phone. âIâm not done yet.â I dial the number of one of my best friends. âPenelope, I need your help.â
âWhatâs up?â
âAres got taken by his father whoâs probably going to kill him.â
âWhat?â She sounds shocked. âWait, but you and Aresââ
âExactly. I donât want to ask too much, but since you helped free Lana ⦠please.â
âDonât. I donât need a please. You donât even need to ask. Iâm coming. Give me five.â
She hangs up before I can even reply. Well, guess thatâs settled.
âHey.â
I turn around to see Kai Torres from the Phantom Society standing behind us, peering into the car.
What is he doing here?
âWell, hello there,â Blaine muses, winking at Kai, who is unimpressed. âWhat brings you to the Tartarus House?â
âWhereâs Ares? Heâs not picking up his phone. Iâm worried.â
âAsk your goddamn father,â Caleb growls back.
âFather?â Kai frowns. âWhat does he have to do with this?â
âWe killed a bunch of those Bonesmen fuckers to free Crystal.â
âSo what? So have I,â Kai responds, shrugging.
âYeah, well youâre not the one getting punished now, are you?â Caleb retorts, grinding his teeth. âSince your father has a favorite son and one he wants to murder.â
Kaiâs eyes widen. âWhat?â
âDonât pretend you donât know,â Caleb growls, clutching a knife, ready to fight.
âWait,â I say, stepping between them. âMaybe he doesnât.â
âBullshit,â Caleb quips.
âCalm down, Caleb, we might need him,â Blaine says.
âCaleb, please,â I say.
Caleb takes in a deep breath through his nose, then retracts his blade. âFine.â
âI donât know what the hell youâre talking about,â Kai says. âAll I know is that my father sometimes summons him after heâs done some shit.â
âDo you know what his father does to him?â I ask.
âHe scolds him,â Kai says. âItâs not like theyâre on good standing. Ares hasnât exactly been ⦠willing to live by the Torres rules.â
âRules,â I scoff. âYour father hasnât just been scolding him every time he makes him come to his office.â I donât know if Iâm the one who should be telling him this, but I feel like I have no choice. âHe hurts him. Physically.â
Kaiâs face contorts. âWhat?â
âHe never told you?â Caleb asks, frowning.
âNo.â Kai shakes his head. âMy father woulââ
âBelieve me, he would,â Caleb responds. âEvery fucking time Ares makes a decision that doesnât benefit his screwed-up vision.â
Slowly but surely, the anger begins to take over every inch of Kaiâs face. âNo. I donât want to believe it. If thatâs true, then â¦â His fist balls. âI need to see this for myself.â
Blaine snorts. âGood luck getting in.â
âIâm a Torres,â he says.
âYou think your father will let you see what he does to Ares?â Blaine asks. âThereâs no way any of us are getting in there quietly.â
Kaiâs eye twitches. âWho says Iâll come quietly?â
He pulls out his phone and walks off to make a call, and I donât know if this is going to go well, but maybe heâll assist us. We can use every bit of help.
âGuess thatâs it,â Caleb growls.
âCanât we bring more Tartarus guys?â I ask Blaine.
He shakes his head. âI donât want their deaths on our hands. We can do this. I have faith.â
âFaith wonât stop your head from rolling,â Caleb growls back.
âYou think Iâll let them get close to me?â Blaine flashes his katana from the umbrella he always brings with him wherever he goes. âNo one touches this delicious body.â
âGag,â Caleb says, making me chuckle.
âHey!â Penelopeâs voice in the distance makes me turn my head.
âYouâre here!â I yell, but then my eyes widen when I see three familiar faces behind her; Felix, Dylan, and Alistair have all shown up too.
âWho summoned those sickos?â Blaine asks.
âI did,â I say, smirking.
âYou rang?â Dylan says as he approaches, throwing a lighter up and down. âItâs been too long since our last barbecue.â
Caleb furrows his brows. âBarbecue? Are you for real?â
âOf course, I am,â he responds. âCaleb something â¦â
âPreston,â Caleb grits, visibly annoyed. âHow could you already forgetââ
âBecause I donât care.â Dylan narrows his eyes.
âWell fuck you too,â Caleb retorts.
âI just have poor memory, donât take it personal,â Dylan mutters.
Alistair waves at me and smiles awkwardly. âSo who are we killing?â
âWell, thatâs one way to say hi,â Blaine says, then he focuses on the last of Penelopeâs boyfriends. âAnd who are you?â
âFelix,â Penelope says.
âIâm only here because of her, so I hope for you itâs worth my fucking time,â he says, cracking his knuckles. âAs long as thereâs people to kill, Iâm happy. Where are we going?â
âThatâs all I wanted to hear,â Blaine muses. âTorres Casino downtown.â
Dylan makes a face. âWait, isnât that Kaiâsââ
âYes,â I reply. âIt is. Is that a problem?â
He shrugs. âNot my problem if Kai hates us all.â
âHe wonât,â I say. âHe already knows.â
âAnd heâd let us bust up the place without making a fuss?â
âYes.â Kaiâs voice makes us all turn around.
And Iâm not the only one shocked that both Nathan Reed and Milo Fletcher have also joined him.
âThis had better be worth it, if I have to join up with those fuckers again,â Nathan says, as he approaches me, and I run to hug him.
âYou came,â I say.
âOf course, I did. I told you, you call me when you need help, and Iâll be fucking there. I donât fucking care what it is.â
âFuck. Not these guys too,â Alistair says, rolling his eyes like heâs already tired before the fighting has started.
âWait, you have some issues with them?â I ask Alistair.
âDuh, theyâve been fucking around with Felixâs sister,â Dylan answers.
âHi, Blaine!â Milo says, waving like heâs happy to see him.
When I pull back and see Nathan staring at Felix and Kai at Dylan, I just know this whole thing is going to be awkward as hell. Half of these guys hate each otherâs guts, and the only thing keeping them from slaughtering each other is us girls.
âDonât start fighting, please,â I say.
âI wonât,â Nathan promises.
âI canât promise I wonât,â Felix quips.
âPlay nice,â Penelope tells him.
âYou still owe me a finger,â Nathan grits back.
Kai throws him a glare, making him back down. âDonât. Not now.â
âSo who are we killing?â Milo asks, throwing around his nunchucks like heâs mentally preparing himself.
âWait, what about Crystal?â Dylan asks.
âWhat about me?â I reply, folding my arms.
âWell ⦠isnât this like a little too much for you? I mean, you donât have to come. It must be a shock to see us with all of these weapons,â he says, pointing at the weaponâs stash.
I shrug. âNope.â
Alistair frowns. âNone at all?â
I fish two knives out of the stash and chuck them at both of them, catching them off guard.
Dylan smirks. âWhoa, whereâd you learn those moves?â
I point at Blaine who grins smugly and then wriggles his brows.
âIâm impressed,â Alistair says.
âThank you, thank you.â Blaine bows.
âHey now, donât take all the credit,â I say, shoving my elbow into his side.
A motorcycle drives up to the Tartarus House, and black hair spills from a helmet as itâs pulled off. âDid I hear the word kill?â
Lana commands attention the second she steps off her motorcycle and approaches the group, and I hug her too. âThank you.â
âDonât say thank you yet. I havenât killed anyone.â She snorts. âBut Iâm ready for whoever weâre going to murder.â She opens up her coat, revealing all the weapons she brought with her.
No wonder those Phantom boys wanted her so badly.
âAnd I canât wait to watch you do it,â Milo says, all swoony.
God, I love my friends.
âWeâre going into the Torres Casino,â I say, and I show everyone a picture of the location in Crescent Vale City on my phone. âThere will be a ton of guards at every exit, and theyâre heavily armed.â
âRight. No problem.â Dylan says, licking his lips.
âWeâll butcher them,â Felix adds, chucking his knife up and down.
Butcher? Jesus. Wish Penelope wouldâve warned me about her guys.
âHello, has no one thought of our disguises?â Lana says.
âDisguise?â Alistair frowns.
Lana gives him a deadpan look. âYou think youâll get away with murdering everyone at a casino downtown?â
âOh shit ⦠I hadnât actually thought about that,â Dylan mutters, tapping his lip.
âI had,â Caleb says, and he pulls a few masks from the car and chucks them on the ground. âGrab one each.â
Penelope picks it up from the ground and stares at it. âIs this what I think it is?â
âThis has the Bones Brotherhood emblem on it,â Milo says.
âYes. Exactly the point,â Caleb says. âDo I have to spell it out?â
Lana begins to smirk. âYou want us to pretend weâre Bonesmen to set them up against each other.â
âSmart,â I mutter.
âBet you didnât expect that from me,â Caleb says with a smug grin.
Blaine holds up the mask with two fingers and sniffs, then winces. âEw, Iâm not wearing this.â
âBlaine,â Caleb grits.
âIt stinks!â
âHeâs right, it does smell,â Milo says, making a face when he smells it again.
âSee?â Blaine makes a face. âThis is going to ruin my skin.â
âDo you have a better idea?â Caleb raises his brow.
Blaine rolls his eyes and sighs out loud. âFine. But you owe me a new cream.â
âFuck your fucking cream,â Nathan growls, putting on the mask. âHow does it look?â
âExcuse you, darling,â Blaine mutters under his breath.
âLooks good to me,â Penelope says.
Dylan, Alistair, Lana, Milo, and Felix all put on their mask as well.
âThis had better not take all fucking day,â Felix snarls. âGet in, kill people, get out.â
âAre we doing a kill count?â Nathan asks everyone, licking his lips.
âMost definitely,â Blaine responds.
Dylanâs eyes sparkle. âCount me in.â He shoves Felix in the side. âWhat about you? You game?â
âI donât play, I win,â Felix growls back, making everyone grin.
âYou wish,â Lana quips, getting them all hyped.
âOh, itâs on,â Caleb says.
âKill as many as you like, but donât touch my father,â Kai growls. âI want to speak with him.â
âWhy?â Alistair asks.
âBecause heâs the reason weâre there in the first place,â I say. âNow letâs go get Ares.â
Ares
Another strike with the bullwhip has my knee caving in on me, and I slowly collapse but crawl up from the floor. I will stand. Each time he hits me, I come back up to my feet despite the searing pain.
THWACK!
Another one has me roaring out loud.
âGet on your knees, Ares, and maybe I will spare you.â
Blood rolls down my back in streams.
âFuck you,â I hiss.
THWACK! THWACK! THWACK!
I fall to my knees and crawl right back up again, but the second my feet push up on the ground, I collapse onto the floor.
Itâs too much.
My body can barely take it anymore.
Iâve already disassociated long ago, but now Iâm on the brink of letting go. Of just drifting off into nothing and surrendering to my end. Even though it didnât come by her hand, at least I know I did the right thing. If he truly intends to kill me, then I hope itâs a swift death because I canât stand this pain much longer.
BANG!
I suck in a breath.
That sounded like a ⦠gunshot.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Multiple.
The sound of screams beyond the door makes me blink rapidly.
I look up at the door and the guard standing in front of it, wondering whatâs going on behind that door.
âWhatâs going on out there?â my father growls at him.
The guard pulls out his walkie-talkie and says, âUpdate.â
âShots fired, shots fired, three down! We need backup.â
My eyes widen, and I lift my head.
âWho is it?â my father growls.
âDetails!â the guard yells into his walkie-talkie.
âGroup of fucking young kids, barely twenty, and thereâs two, no three fucking girls too!â
My heart comes back to life, and I get back up from the floor, invigorated by the mere idea.
Itâs them.
