Vile Boys: Chapter 68
Vile Boys (Spine Ridge University)
âNO!â I scream, grabbing Blaine as he sinks to the floor.
Blood pours from an open wound in his chest, and he begins to gurgle.
âYou motherfââ Caleb smashes his fist into Mr. Torresâs face and knocks him to the floor. Kai kicks the gun out of his hand and cracks the bones in his fingers underneath his boot. His screams are the only consolation I have as I wrap my arms around both Ares and Blaine, bleeding out in my lap.
âNo, no, no,â I murmur at Blaine. âPlease, stay with me.â
âGUARDS!â his father squeals. âGUARDS!â
âThere are no more guards,â Kai growls at his father, gripping his collar. âWe killed them all.â
Mr. Torresâs pupils dilate. âWhat? No, no, that canât be trueââ
Kai snatches the whip from his fatherâs hand and starts lashing out, striking him with the whip just as harshly as he did to Ares. âDoes it hurt?! Do you think it hurt as much as you hurt Ares?â THWACK. THWACK. THWACK. âThe pain doesnât even come close to the years of suffering you put him through!â THWACK. THWACK. âYou motherfucking piece of shit, how dare you hurt my fucking brother!â THWACK!
Kai is out of control, completely unhinged by rage as he whips his own fatherâs belly and face while he screams in terror from the blood rolling down his body and neck.
âKai, please!â his father begs.
âDid you stop when he pleaded with you?â Kai responds, only to strike him even harder. âAll these years, I thought you were talking with him, getting him to change his mind, to prepare him. And now I find out youâve been torturing him all this time right under my very fucking nose?â
THWACK! THWACK! THWACK! THWACK! THWACK!
He doesnât stop.
Not until Caleb grabs his wrist midair. âEnough.â
âHe needs to fucking pay!â Kai grits.
âBut do you really want to murder your own father?â
Ragged breaths come out of Kaiâs mouth. âHe deserves nothing less.â
âKai â¦â His father groans.
Kai kicks him in the side. âEven now, you canât even think of Ares instead. You motherfucker, you donât deserve me.â
âGuys â¦â I mutter, looking up at both of them. âPlease, help.â
Iâm cradling two gravely injured men while blood seeps down my back, and I canât hold on much longer.
Kai and Caleb come to us, and while Caleb rips off his own shirt and wraps it around Blaineâs bullet wound, Kai lifts his own brother off the floor and carries him on his back.
âCall for help,â Kai tells me.
When both boys are off me, I get up and bolt through the door, rushing through the hallway until I get to the others. âGuys! We need help!â
Felix, Alistair, Dylan, Penelope, Lana, Milo, and Nathan run back with me and gawk inside the office. âWhat happened? Did you save hiâOh God,â Penelope mutters when she sees the pools of blood on the floor.
âJesus Christ,â Dylan says when he peers inside. âWhat happened?â
âKaiâs father tortured Ares and shot Blaine. We need help carrying them out. No time to waste,â I say.
But the moment they run past me to assist Kai and Caleb, Iâm the only one who looks at Mr. Torres. Heâs reaching for the gun on the floor and aims it at Ares again.
So I snatch Lanaâs gun from her belt, aim it at Torres, and shoot.
BANG!
One bullet and everyoneâs attention is focused on the body flopping to the floor, the gun still firmly clutched in his stiff hand.
Everyone takes a glance at me, but I canât take my eyes off the body of the man who murdered my father in cold blood. The burden of my vow to him ⦠has finally been released.
Caleb approaches me and has to pry the weapon out of my hand before he hugs me tight. âItâs okay. You did good. Itâs over now.â
I nod a few times and swallow away the tears. âIâm sorry. He was about to kill Aââ
Kai interrupts me. âI know.â He places a hand on my shoulder. âThank you.â
Iâm shocked. Completely and utterly shocked.
But he just walks away like I didnât just kill his father, supporting Ares together with Milo.
I turn around and look at Blaine whoâs hanging onto Felix and Dylan for dear life. âWill they be okay?â
Caleb wraps his arm around my waist. âI wonât allow them to leave us behind. So yes.â He briefly smiles at me. âLetâs go.â
Caleb
We race back to school in our cars, ignoring red lights everywhere. Felix, Kai, Dylan, and Nathan help me carry Blaine and Ares haphazardly to the nurseâs office even though itâs already way past opening hours.
Iâm already glad most students are in their dorms fast asleep, so they donât have to witness us dragging in two bloodied people and have their screams fill the campus.
Right as we place both guys down on the bed, the nurse marches in.
âWhat is going on in here? Iââ
She stops in her tracks the second she sees us all scrambling in her office, trying to find something to stop the bleeding.
âDear God,â she mutters. âAll of you?â
Dylan smashes his lips together for a quick smile. âHi again.â
Alistair waves awkwardly, and Milo just coyly smiles at her. Meanwhile, Penelope and Lana stand in the corner with their arms folded, while Felix and Nathan just donât give a fuck and simply shrug.
âAre you going to help us or not?â Kai grits.
âWell, whatâs going on?â The nurse steps in and places her phone down on the table. âI got another warning that someone was in my office, but I didnât think you guys had the balls to come in again after last time. Who got shot up now?â
Nathan points at the bloodied bodies on the beds.
âPlease,â I mutter as I grab Aresâs hand. âWe need your help.â
Crystalâs hovering over his face, checking his temperature. âHeâs heating up.â
Blaine coughs and groans. âDonât worry about me, darlings. I feel fine.â
âHeâs been shot,â Crystal says before she unwraps the shirt around his wounds to show her. âPlease, you have to help us.â
The nurseâs eyes widen, and she swiftly grabs her toolkit from her cabinet, puts on gloves, and sits on a stool near Blaine. âMove, girl.â
She shoves Crystal aside and rubs some alcohol into his skin. âThis is going to hurt.â
âFuck,â Blaine growls when she shoots him up with drugs.
âYou people are getting on my nerve,â the nurse says. âThis is the third time now youâre just dumping bodies in my office.â
âWeâre still alive,â Blaine replies, grinding his teeth through the pain as she digs into his wounds.
âStay still, boy,â she says. âI need to stop the bleed and suture it.â
She injects something into him and goes to work on the wound left from the knife, but the blood keeps pouring out of his chest every time he takes in a breath.
âThere, Iâve sutured this one. But youâre going to need to go to the hospital for this,â she says, pointing at the bullet hole.
âOh God,â Milo mutters, chewing his nails. âIs he going to be okay?â
âThat all depends on how fast you can get there,â she says.
âWhat about Ares?â Crystal asks.
The nurse rolls her little stool to his side and says, âWhere?â
Kai and Nathan help roll him over, and she gags when she sees the lashes on his back and all the blood seeping into the bed.
âOh God indeed â¦â she says.
âThat doesnât sound good,â Alistair mutters from the corner.
âHand me my phone, boy,â she yells at Dylan, who throws it at her.
Itâs impressive she manages to catch it at her age. She swiftly pulls off her gloves and dials a number. âRivera, itâs Daisy Lewis.â
âDaisy?â Dylan makes a face and grins, but a simple, stern look from Nurse Daisy shuts him up.
âI need you to call in a code at the clinic. Students brought in two injured, one with a bullet wound and a stab wound that I sutured up quickly, one in the peritoneum, one in the pectoralis major muscle. Another patient with major lashes and ruptured skin, possibly through the dermis and subcutaneous. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Yeah, got it.â
She hangs up the phone and turns to us. âAmbulance is on the way.â
âWhat? No,â Felix grits, stepping in. âWe all agreed, no hospitals. If we go there, theyâll fucking report us to the police, and then weâre done for.â
âMy fatherâs going to kill me,â Alistair mutters, staring off into the distance.
âRelax, no oneâs involving the police,â Penelope says. âAs long as everyone keeps their mouths shut.â
âThatâs going to be tough,â Milo mutters, tapping his fingers together.
âThey need help, guys. We canât just sit around and do nothing,â Crystal says.
âIâm with her,â I say. âIâm not going to let them die. If that means going to the hospital and risking jail time, then so be it.â
Dylan sighs, but then his eyes widen the moment he sees who steps through the door.
âNo one here is going to jail.â
Mr. Rivera, the dean of Spine Ridge University, has us all standing.
âDad?â Lana mutters. âWhat are you doing hereââ Her eyes skitter around the room. âItâs not what it looks like.â
Rivera raises a brow. âTwo injured students and my kids all covered in blood?â
âIt wasnât a fight between us, I swear,â Penelope says.
âFelix,â his father looks sternly at him. âTell me the truth.â
Felix folds his arms. âWe went to the Torres Casino to save Ares, who was being tortured by his father. We shot up maybe a hundred guards to get to him. Torres is dead.â
Their father groans in frustration and rubs his eyes, taking a pause. âAnd the guests?â
âThey ran,â Milo fills in. âWe didnât kill any innocent people if thatâs what youâre asking.â
âDid anyone see you?â
âWe wore masks,â I reply.
âCan we hurry up, please?â Crystal asks. âThereâs no time for any of this. Theyâre dying.â
âWhat if the doctors there tell the cops?â Kai asks.
Mr. Rivera clears his throat. âThey wonât because the specialist working there is on the goddamn board.â
âOh â¦â Dylan mutters. âWell, why didnât you tell us sooner?â
Suddenly, two people knock on the door. âWho called for an ambulance?â
Mr. Rivera steps aside. âYouâre just in time.â
